[Adrian's POV]

He couldn't sleep.

Adrian tossed on the bed for the umpteenth times. Sleep was far from his grasp, despite the dryness in his eyes because of Russell's presence in the living room. He should have gone home while Johan was away. For sure, his mother wouldn't mind, right?

The bedroom door creaked open and Russell came in, still holding the gun he was cleaning earlier. He sniggered at the obvious flinched of Adrian's body as he trudged to the bedside table, putting the gun to the lowest drawer. Russell threw him an amused glance. "Can't sleep?"

Adrian shifted away to the farthest corner of the bed and sat up, hugging Johan's pillow. He knew his apprehension was apparent in his expression. With just the two of them, he has no plan on playing dumb. Adrian sent Russell a scrutinizing gaze. "Why do you have a gun?"
