I knew his temper wouldn't hold quiet for long, but before Quaid could open his mouth, Oliver leaned forward and patted the pregnant witch's hand. She met his eyes with her wide gaze, eyes rimmed with moisture and he smiled. I knew that smile, dazzling and sweet, had been under its influence a time or two and knew the devastating effect it could have on a female heart.

"How are you feeling, Payten? The babies must be soon to come."

So much caring in his tone, genuine and focused. Like she was the only person in the room, all that mattered to him in that instant.
