A pear wand is any wand that is crafted out of wood from a pear tree. More specifically, a pear wand is any wand that has a pear shaft, a pear handle, or both.
Pear Trees
Pear wands have traditionally crafted from the common European pear tree (Pyrus communis). Over the last century, the Chinese ornamental pear (P. calleryana) has become very popular and widespread dues to its great beauty when in bloom, and pear wands have been increasingly made from its wood.
Pear trees are native to coastal and mildly temperate regions from Western Europe and North Africa to Eastern Asia.
Pear trees are medium-sized, typically reaching thirty to fifty feet tall. They often have a tall, narrow crown. Pear trees get their first blossoms when they are four years old. Do not be surprised that there are no pears on the pear tree. Many varieties need cross pollination with another variety. You often can find such trees used as ornamental trees lining streets.
