章 38: Secretary Talk
Grey cleared his throat before he started to talk.
"You know Ma'am, Mr. Alexander has no experience on being in a relationship. He had zero interest about love because of his parents. He thinks that its all just a big joke," Grey started. Sabrina listened attentively to what he was saying.
"Sir has zero knowledge about relationships so he has weird ways of expressing his feelings,"
"You mean his bossy attitude?" Sabrina asked and Grey nodded in response.
"He doesn't know the proper way to express himself and the only way he knows is to boss around. It can be really suffocating sometimes, but when you look deeper into his actions, you'll realize that all he's doing was only for your sake," Grey said.
Sabrina suddenly felt a bit guilty. Was she too harsh on Alexander?
"When Mr. Grande was little, he didn't know that his mom was sick. He only found out when he ran away from home and went to his mother. That day was the most tragic day of his life."
Sabrina remembered that from Alexander's story.
"The day he found out that his mother was sick was also the day his mother died. His mother was pushed and died in front of him. Imagine the horror of a seven-year old boy, witnessing his own mother die before him. The memory haunted him for years. He blamed himself for what happened to his mom. I think because of that Mr. Grande kind of developed a trauma," Grey placed his arms on the railings in the balcony.
"What kind of trauma?" Sabrina asked him curiously.
"When someone close to him suddenly becomes sick or injured, he'll sort of feel some panic inside of him. Then he'll become obsessed on taking care of that person until he or she feels okay. He'll do everything just to make sure they were alright," he answered.
Was that the reason why he's abnormally strict with her? Even though its just an arm injury?
"Its because of his mom that he developed this kind of trauma. He was so broken that he wasn't able to take care of his mom, so when people important to him are sick, he was the first one to step out to take care of them. It was like he wanted to do the thing he wasn't able to do for his mom when she was alive," Grey explained.
Sabrina felt her heart tighten. Who would've thought Alexander had this story to him? She felt extremely guilty after hearing what Grey said. Alexander was only trying to take care of her yet she was so hard on him. She even shouted at him!
A tear fell from Sabrina's eye. She felt sorry for Alexander. A young boy who wasn't able to take care of his sick mother and witnessing his mother die in front of him. It was too heartbreaking. She, herself, can't even imagine how Alexander was able to overcome all of this. He sure was a strong man.
Sabrina felt a pat on her back, "Mr. Grande is a good guy Miss Sabrina. Its just that he need time to learn things, after all he was a man who lacked parental love," she heard Grey say.
Alexander's mom died when he was 7 and his father took him in after. Although he was with his father, he didn't pay too much attention on Alexander because of his mistress. He had to learn things by himself.
"How did you know all this Grey?" Sabrina asked him.
"Years ago, we had a company dinner. He had drank too much that day and I was the one who took him home. Inside the car he suddenly bursted out in tears. He was telling me stories about a pitiful boy who turned out to be him," Grey smiled at the memory, "That was the day when I fully understood why Mr. Grande is what he is. He's a man with a lot of stories Miss Sabrina. His past made him who he is right now, the strongest person I know," Grey praised his boss.
In his eyes, Alexander was the person he looked up to. No matter how he bossed him around, he knew that it was just his personality. He wasn't a bad man.
"Thank you for telling me this," Sabrina wiped the tears that were about to fall from her eyes.
"No problem Miss Sabrina. I hope I helped you with your problem," Grey smiled at her.
"You did, thank you so much," Sabrina tapped Grey on the shoulder, "I better go look for Alexander now," she said.
"Good luck," Grey said.
Sabrina immediately went back to her room but Alexander was no longer there. She went down to check if he was in the kitchen, but wasn't there either.
Then she went to his bedroom and knocked.
Hearing someone, Alexander immediately extinguished his cigaretted and walked to his door. Upon opening it, he saw Sabrina.
"Uhm..." Sabrina started but Alexander suddenly pulled her inside and closed the door.
Carefully, Alexander hugged her.
"I'm sorry for being too overbearing, I just really wanted you to be well," he said.
Using her free hand, Sabrina patted Alexander on the back, "It's okay I understand, I'm sorry too for suddenly venting out," she apologized.
Alexander pulled from the hug and looked at Sabrina in the eyes, "I promise to control myself from now on. I'm really sorry if you felt suffocated with my actions," he told her sincerely.
Being carried away by the moment, Sabrina hooked her arm on Alexander's neck and tiptoed to kiss him.
It was just a quick touch of their lips, but it tasted sweet.
"Its fine now, let's not talk about it anymore," Sabrina smiled at him.
Alexander smiled back at her and held her face, "I love you baby," Alexander told her and she just smiled in response.
At this point, Sabrina was still not sure if what she felt for Alexander can be called love. But what she was sure is she's happy with this man. Although he could be pretty annoying sometimes, he was still the sweetest.
"I should go back to my room now, Goodnight Alexander," Sabrina said the turned to open the door but Alexander suddenly lifted her in bridal style.
"Put me down Alexander! My arm!" she protested but Alexander had already placed her on his bed.
"Sleep with me tonight," he said.
Sabrina's throat instantly went dry. He was asking her to sleep with him tonight, does it mean that they will...
A man and a woman..
"What are you thinking? Why is your face so red?" Alexander asked her, "Don't tell me you were thinking about.." he crawled on top of her, "this?" he smiled at her playfully.
"I w-wasn't thinking of a-anything! Get off me!" she tried to push Alexander but one arm isn't enough to brush this man off her.
"But why is your face is so red?"
"It's not!"
"I can clearly see it baby, I'm not blind."
"Get off me Alexander! You're heavy!" she complained.
"Tell me what you were thinking about first," his smile widened.
"At the count of three Alexander, move or I'm not sleeping with you!" she threatened him.
"Okay then," Alexander chuckled then rolled on the side and placed the blanket on Sabrina.
"Just sleep with me tonight, I promise I won't do anything to you," he said while stroking her hair gently.
"You really better not," Sabrina glared at him which made him chuckle.
Alexander leaned forward and kissed Sabrina on her forehead, "Goodnight baby," he said then positioned himself to sleep.
Earlier when Sabrina shouted at him, his heart became a mess. Right after she walked out of the door, anxiety grew on him. He wanted to chase her, but he also wanted to give her space.
He went inside his room and contemplated on his actions earlier. Was he really being too much? What if she changes her mind about me? About us? Questions like that popped on his mind.
Good thing, Sabrina was the one who first approached him. If not, he didn't know what to do.
After a few hours, Alexander was waked by his phone. Seeing the caller ID, he immediately stood up and picked the call up on his room balcony.
"What is it?" he asked
"Sir someone is trying to find about your whereabouts in LA, what should I do?" the man from the other line said.
"Who is it?"
"It's the secretart of the CEO of Lockwood Corporation Sir. He's been asking around about your home address."
"Give it to him," Alexander instructed.
"Are you sure Sir?"
"Yes," he answered then dropped the call.
He looked at Sabrina who was sleeping soundly.
"Your old lover looks desperate about you, what should I do about him?" he mumbled to himself.
How should he make fun of Jacob? Should he take it slow and enjoy every moment or should he destroy him immediately?
