章 8: Press Conference
"The room is now open for questions." the host said and the reporters broke into chaos. Everybody's eager to get their questions answered first, "The reporter in red, you may go first." the host pointed.
"Good day, I'm Harry from CLB News. I wanted to ask Miss Sabrina's thoughts about joining this film. Since you are new, how do you find your workmates?" the reporter asked.
Sabrina picked up her mic and answered, "I was initially a little scared, I'm a foreigner here after all. But after meeting my co-stars, it all went away. They were very welcoming of me even though we all just met today." Sabrina looked at Jessica who shot her a smile.
"We heard that you were personally casted by Director Walker, what are your thoughts?"
"I'm extremely grateful to Director Walker for paying attention to someone like me. Hollywood is a dream come true for me, and it is all thanks to Director Walker. I will work hard in this movie." Sabrina answered.
Another reporter asked, "What pushed you to cast Sabrina Mr. Walker?"
"Encounter was actually already planned several months ago, we already casted Kevin and Jessica but we still can't find a suitable actress for the female lead so the production was postponed. One of my daughters was a fan of Sabrina, and she forced me to watch her movie with her. At first I wasn't interested, but after watching the movie I was captivated by her acting. It was so natural that you wouldn't think she was acting at all! Then I told myself, I have to cast this woman." the reporters laughed at this.
"Then send my gratitude to your daughter Director Walker." the people broke into laughter after Sabrina spoke.
"But we heard that Sabrina climbed your bed just to get this role! It isn't normal for Director Walker to suddenly cast a foreign actress. Can you explain this?" one reporter shouted. It was the same reporter who questioned Sabrina in the airport. The reporters suddenly began to whisper to each other, some looked at Sabrina with disgust.
"I see you're here again," Sabrina said, which made the reporters look at each other with confused faces, ths Sabrina continued, "When I was about to leave for LA, this man was also in the airport. He also asked me the same question. I'm curious, why are you so desperate about this question? I answered it already the last time and you came here again just to ask the same question? Isn't it a bit weird?" Sabrina said hinting others that the reporter was just here to slander her. After all, why would a reporter travel far for no apparent reason? It was to ruin her image for sure.
The reporter suddenly looked awkward and didn't know what to say, Sabrina had a point. The other reporters looked at him with disgust, he was defaming someone in broad daylight!
Then Mr. Walker suddenly spoke, "If you have doubts about my ability in casting my artists, then I can't do anything about that. She's a new actress here yes, but her skills are beyond average. It is a reasonable thing to cast her don't you think? As a person from the same country as her, shouldn't you be proud that she is representing all of you? But here you are stirring up trouble for her."
Jessica also spoke up, "Meeting Sabrina, I'm certain that she has a good character and good morals, if I'm wrong I will definitely bow down to you!" After she spoke, Kevin went next.
"I also think the same as Jessica, if she's such a person, why would she reject me? Earlier I tried to flirt with her, but I was turned down immediately. If I, a handsome man were rejected by her, what more do you think of Director Walker?," then he turned his head to look at Director Walker, "I'm sorry Director, but we can't deny that I'm more handsome and have a more capable body than yours." then the crowd suddenly broke into laughter. The tensed atmosphere a while ago felt lighter now, all thanks to Kevin.
After a few more questions from the reporters, the press conference finally came to an end. The cast were gathered backstage.
"Thank you for standing up for me a while ago and I'm also sorry for being the cause of the trouble." Sabrina apologized to them.
"Hey there's nothing to apologize about, that reporter was clearly trying to slander you." Jessica replied.
"Yeah, I don't believe you'd choose Director over me." Kevin said that made both women laugh.
After bidding goodbye, everyone left the venue one after another. Sabrina was the only one left standing outside the hotel. She was waiting for Kenzie who fetched their car. After waiting for a couple of minutes Kenzie arrived.
Sabrina got inside the car immediately.
"Hey I think that reporter will cause trouble for us." Kenzie suddenly spoke.
"Yeah I think so too, I need to be wary of my surroundings from now on." Sabrina answered.
"Don't worry, I'll keep an eye on him," Kenzie assured Sabrina, then she changed the topic, "What do you think of Kevin?" Kenzie teased her.
"Oh please, I'm not interested." Sabrina rolled her eyes.
"Why? He's hot! Don't you find him attractive?"
"No. Not at all."
"But why?"
"Men like him are just attracted for now but will fade sooner or later, he isn't a guy that's into serious relationships." Sabrina answered.
"Okay fine." Kenzie sighed defeated. She actually wanted to matchmake them. After learning about Sabrina's past, she thought that it's time for her to move on with her life, meet someone new and get married. She's already 25 after all, it's a nice age to get married already.
"Oh my gosh!" Kenzie exclaimed in panic.
"What happened?" Sabrina was flustered by Kenzie's sudden reaction.
"The brakes! It's not working!" Kenzie tried to step onto the break but it is still not working. Panic grew inside Kenzie, she didn't know what to do.
"Switch seats with me," Sabrina removed her seatbelt and held the steering wheel. Kenzie was hesitant to do it, she was scared.
"Just trust me okay?" Sabrina assured her. She kept a calm composure.
Kenzie, not having any other choice, removed her seatbelt and switched seats with Sabrina. In Front of them was a car with children inside. Their car's speed is not slowing down and if it continues, it will hit the car in front of them who was driving at a slow speed.
Sabrina reached for a pillow behind and gave it to Kenzie, "Use this to protect your head, I'm crashing this car." she said. Kenzie was flustered after hearing her words, but there was no other way to stop this car.
"But what about you?" Kenzie asked Sabrina worried.
"The airbags should work fine. Cover your head!" She turned the steering wheel sideways then she punched the steering wheel and a big white bag appeared. The car crashed to the sidewalk hitting a pole with a big impact.
The front of the car was completely smashed. The glass of the car was shuttered and glass pieces were everywhere.
"Kenzie are you okay?" Sabrina asked worriedly.
"Yeah I just have small cuts I think." Sabrina sighed in relief. Both of them got out of the car. Sabrina led Kenzie to the sidewalk to sit down. She called the police and called a tow truck company for her wrecked car.
"This was all planned isn't it?" Kenzie asked Sabrina.
"Yeah, I think we'll have to go back to the hotel and check the CCTV footage of the parking lot. My car breaks were obviously tampered." Sabrina answered.
"Ah! I'm so angry! Whoever did this! I'm going to skin him or her alive! I thought I was going to die today." Kenzie broke into tears as she remembered the moment when she realized the breaks of the car weren't working. She really thought that it was the end of her! Luckily Sabrina was there, if not she would've died.
Sabrina sat in the side walk with Kenzie waiting for the tow truck, then suddenly a black Audi parked in front of them.
"What happened here?" asked the man who got out of the car.
