Hours elapsed, the sun slowly fell from its lofty position in the sky, sinking into the horizon. The afternoon brought with it a waft of clouds that created an overcast. The day felt long and dragging, monotone even. But Zhang Wang knew that he would return soon, eager to meet with Kai Kulan who he was eager to meet again.
And plus, it was probably better to drag Sikong Ren back as well. The Master of the Strays was stubborn and unrelenting in his search for answers, even if the scorched earth did not privy any information.
"Let's head back," Zhang Wang urged as the sky was turning dark. Purple and pink hues overtook the sky.
"You can head back first," Sikong Ren's eyes were still fixed to the ground, whatever he might have hoped to spot was nowhere in sight.
Zhang Wang sighed, "We're not going to find anything in the dark."
"I'm willing to take the chance."
