Claire was in the middle of getting ready for the party when someone knocked on the door. She was already dressed but focused on doing her makeup in front of the vanity so she told Alex, who was already uncomfortably dressed in his suit, to go get it.
"Claire, it's Tim," he announced. "Should I send him away?"
She winced at his bluntness when the man was right there and offered him a neutral smile. "What is it? I'm a bit busy at the moment."
Tim's eyes went wide at the sight of her. "Where did you get that dress?"
"Isabella picked it out. Why?"
He muttered under his breath before collecting himself and holding out a garment bag. "Tonight's soiree is a black and white ball. You can't wear gold sequins. I have another dress for you…and I suppose I can let him borrow a different tie and pocket square."
