章 52: A Siblings' Bicker

Fei eyed everyone that were in the area, looking for a possible perpetrator that dared harm her master. Soon, she found her target.

"Ca-Rol! Why in this galaxy are you so good at this? It's not fair!" Carlos wailed, throwing away the headset in frustration.

She had beaten him in all of the games they've played so far! Carlos had intently practiced by himself over the previous few days, playing against robots. He had thought that he would finally be able to beat her, but once again, he had been utterly thrashed by her…

The blond girl smiled gloatingly and crossed her legs in arrogance as she watched her brother roll around the sofa. "Hah! I'm so awesome, you'll never be able to beat me no matter how hard you try!"

She knew that her little brother tried very hard to defeat her; but that's all the more reason for her to try to win. He isn't the only person that knew how to improve by practicing.

Carol laughed and continued to tease the poor boy.

"And as I am your sister, I shall remind you out of goodwill, never swear at the galaxy! Who knows, the one in control of this galaxy might get angry and send someone to kidnap you to torture you and...-"

"Oh, stobb* it!" Carlos wailed even louder as he shot a glare at his despicable sister, who lived her life's purpose to mess with him.

He wouldn't be able to sleep at night after hearing such frightening words.

Carol smiled innocently at her brother's adorable display of defiance. "Stop what? It's true though."

The young boy harrumphed in contempt as his bottom lip quivered. "Whatever. Fei will protect me no matter what. She won't allow me to get kidnapped and tortured."

He had blurted those words out without thinking, but after saying so, Carlos found that he no longer felt so scared. He turned to Fei and smiled affectionately.

"Hey, I'm still here, you know?" Carol was getting a little annoyed at being so blatantly disregarded by her own little brother for a servant.

Flustered by her words, Carlos turned to him and announced, "Playing with you is no fun. I'm g-gonna go play with Marcus, my a-awesome online friend that I made. Enjoy your loneliness, my oh so great sister."

The targeted oh so great sister's eyes widened in amusement and said in a serious manner, "Hey, since when did you learn sarcasm? Who tainted you?"

"You did, Ca-Rol." Carlos turned around and made a funny face at his sister before breaking out in a run towards his room on the 2nd floor.

"I have online friends as well, dimwit. I won't be lonely." Carol muttered under her breath.

Seeing her little brother off with a fawning smile, she suddenly thought of how much he had grown over the past few years, from a toddler who couldn't even walk properly to a young boy who knew how to think for himself.

Feeling a burning glare on her back, Carol turned around.

Fei was still staring daggers at this perpetrator who harmed and mocked her master.

The smile that was on the second miss of the Rochester family's face was wiped off immediately, replaced by a cold sneer.

Carol had long wanted to reprimand this insolent servant.

It dined, frolicked, and lived with her family of nobles because of their kindness. Was that treatment not good enough for its tastes?

What gave it the right to shoot such a glare at her, one of the masters of this house? To show such brazen disrespect?

It didn't know its place.

Previously, she had endured her rage and disgust for the sakes of her elder sister and younger brother, who seemed to be enjoying themselves in playing house. They treated that mutant like family, caring for it, holding it in their hands as if it was some sort of rare treasure.

That disgusted her. But as they were family, she never showed any expression against their actions.

Despite her discomfort, Carol had also protected it from guards and other malicious servants who didn't know their places, keeping in mind that this was Carlos' bodyguard and friend.

Yet… the mutant didn't seem to understand nor appreciate her kindness.

The mutant was only a servant. A servant. What gave it the right to step onto HER head? At this rate, it would only be a matter of time before it would be emboldened enough to carelessly poop on top of her.

Carol couldn't allow that to happen.

She was a noble, and she had to hold up that pride of her family. Even if the rest of her family became dogs, she still had to remind the world of the greatness of the Rochester family.

And after that disregarding glare, she couldn't withhold the dam within her that had finally burst.

It was the final straw.

"So, little mutant, what are you staring at? How dare you, a mere servant to look at me, one of the masters of this house, with such strong killing intent!"

The sudden outburst startled the surrounding servants, causing everyone to stop their actions and look at the two women in unplanned unison. The bustling corridor became so quiet one could hear a pin drop.
