章 80: Chapter 75
"We have to go now. Sorry." Bright said and immediately grabbed Brennan's arms that happily slid on the bag of fries that Nathan ordered. "I got your email. I'll beep you up as soon as I can. I promise."
Brennan took a handful of fries as he was dragged by Bright and muttered 'it was nice meeting you all' towards them as he ate and munched the fries good at his mouth. When the both of them ensured that they were out of sight, Bright let go of his arms and stopped running- then looked at the white necklace with his shaking hands. Deep inside of him, he wished that the person they were to save won't be Joy because he'd been worried the moment he first saw the scars she had been hiding under the long sleeves of her dress- and to actually fall into the pit of what the heavens would characterize as humans who need saving would break him to the point that nothing can ever fix him again because that would only mean that his sacrifice of not being able to see the person he thought of as brother- and his efforts to save her life would fall into insignificance. Bright clenched his first and sat down on one of the benches as she looked at his necklace and Brennan followed him and studied his appearance. It was his first time to see the fearsome expression in his face and he took time before opening the necklace. Brennan understood- and he was also afraid of what would happen to them if her face shows up on their necklaces. He saw that Bright can't manage to open his necklace so he turned to his own and opened it to conceal the nervousness that stirs up his tummy.
"The name's Kim on the next city." he said as Bright looked up to him with tears threatening his eyes.
"T-thank you." Bright replied and sighed in relief as hr opened his necklace.
"I like their group. Was that your predecesso-Light's circle?" Brennan said and gulped the juice he took from the table. The container was named Nick.
"Yes and I believe all of them were aware of his mission. Nathan was one of his missions and they accepted him on their group- though in sure he knows something about it." Bright said, and the smile he always had completely vanished on his face as the sadness had taken over him. "Joy's eyes are beautiful, right? They look like the moon- funny thing though - Light's eyes were gold- like the sun."
"It's a forbidden love." Brennan said and looked down on his feet. "So Yvan was the Joy before and I am now the Joy?"
"Stop. You are using redundant words it's making me sick." Bright chuckled and his face lightened up. "You are right. But I believe there had been 50 chosens before me- I'm like the 51st."
"That's a huge number of people who fell in love the wrong way."
"Not all of them fell in love. They treated each other as family but the disappearance of the chosens is something that was never explained to us." Bright answered and tried not to show him his pathetic side.
"You chosens are sort of like angels right? Maybe they all went to heaven." Brennan said and poked his shoulders. "As an angel you shouldn't be thinking like this at all."
Bright looked up at him like he saw a ball of light that came to him and showed him the way. He realized that everything he said was right and that there was also a huge possibility that the chosens really went to heaven.
" I'm glad... " Bright said and smiled genuinely as he looked at the ceiling. "I'm glad that the heavens sent you to me."
"Isn't that the reverse? You were the one the heavens sent." Brennan protested and threw his cup on the trash bin near him.
"It's not important anymore." Bright said and started walking on his own as Brennan caught up to him and spanked his back. "Ow."
"You deserve that."

"What are you doing, Nick?" Nathan asked Nick as he was busy typing on his phone. Nick seemed agitated and it was new sight to them. It took him a long time to speak.
"That Brennan- he took my drink away." he said. "I informed him that he owes me one the next time we meet. By the way, did you guys manage to buy everything there is to buy?"
"What an immediate change of character!" Mari said, impressed with him as Nick scratched the back of his head because he felt flattered. "We bought everything. How about you?"
"Yeah we did. Should we head home now?" Nathan asked but Joy's face looked grim. "You okay?"
"Yes I am. I'm just tired." Joy said and started cleaning all the mess on their table. "Let's go?"
"Yep! Let's head home!" everyone said and cheered.
However, Joy cannot remove the mental image of their necklace glowing in front of her. The sight triggered her of the glass that broke loudly behind her ear- the thing she saw clearly in her dreams. She wondered why. Their necklaces were made of glass and silver and it looked expensive - the glass kind of looked like diamonds- nay- it can even replace the stars in the sky..
Joy stopped walking. She remembered that Yvan also had the same necklace but it was completely black- she even deemed it to be scary- but seeing the white necklaces of the two gave her a sense of relief and she felt like some random memories flood back to her- like the dreams she had been seeing.
She thought of Yvan and formulated questions inside her mind and she was certain she'd be able to bombard him with questions the moment she sees him. However, she does not know where to find him because he just puffs out of nowhere- and he was so mysterious that she began speculating and connecting things.
