章 32: Chapter 30: Fading
Tristan and Quiela had ran away and Joy, together with Cammy just stood there - completely astound with his knowledge about them. He was able to see Cammy when all other people failed to see him. Moreover, what shocked them the most if his knowledge about Joy's necklace-
"S-Should we go to the playground n-now?" Cammy asked Joy and he stuttered because he found words hardly escape his mouth.
"Cammy..." Joy said. "About him. How could he... I mean..."
"We don't know for sure- but the fact that he knows about that necklace might tell us that he also knows about your mission. He can see me and hear me as well. He might have spiritual awakening~"
"Hey!" Joy said and spanked his shoulder but her hands just went through him. "Don't make it sound scary!"
"What? That's already scary for you? The fact that you are talking to a ghost should make you find things less scary ya know?" Cammy shrugged and combed his hair using his hand.
"Oh, yeah," Joy said and the thought caused her to look down and sir on the elevated part of the sidewalk. She treated him like a living being from the start and she doesn't have any idea if that made him feel bad.
"You know, helping people and sharing their pain with them is amazing. I wonder why Light chose you tho," Cammy muttered and Joy looked at him again "However, I believe that we should head to the playground where Doctor Tristan told us to go. Come on now Hope. Stand up."
Cammy tried to touch her hand to help her stand up but his hand just slipped and went through. Joy stood up quickly while Cammy looked at his fading hands.
" What's the matter? " Joy asked as she saw his hand.
" Oh, it's nothing. Let's just go. " Cammy smiled and walked first.
'Why... My hand... Why is it like this?' he thought and just went on. Joy ran towards him so she can walk beside him.
The playground was a huge one and it almost seemed like a children's park. There were numerous obstacles everywhere - but there were not much kids because it's already sunset.
"Remind me why we're here again?" Joy asked Cammy who was busy looking aroung the playground, but he wasn't listening. Instead, he started to fade again. Cammy was in pain and he collapsed on the ground holding his chest tightly as he gasped in pain. "W-what's happening?"
Joy came closer to him and tried to comfort him from his pain but she remembered that she can't touch him nor hold him. Cammy was shrieking in pain as Joy cried because of her aghast helplessness. She doesn't know what to do and she seemed frozen.
" Pl-playground... Ajan... Ajan... No.. No.. No.. Don't leave.. Ajan don't leave... Please stay... Stay with me.. Stay.."
"Cammy..." Joy looked around but there was no one else but them on the playground but Cammy is muttering Ajan's name again. "Stop please..."
"No... I can hear her laugh Joy... I can see her smile. I can see her. She's there! I am there..." Cammy said and pointed on the swing on their left side but no one was there. "She's smiling so wide... So beautiful... Her eyes are twinkling like the stars..."
"Cammy. Stop... She's not with you anymore...." Joy said and tried to hug him but she can't touch him and he is fading away.
"No.. I can see it. She's still here with me. She's in my heart." Cammy whispered and held his chest tighter. Joy was over worried at the juncture and tears started falling from her eyes. Cammy heard her sobbing and looked at her. "W-why? What's wrong?"
"Nothing, I just- I just can believe how much of your heart was given to another person. Seems like you didn't left some for yourself so now it's not beating for you anymore- it's beating for someone else." Joy cried. Cammy felt like he was slapped hard because of the words that Joy cried. For the first time in his miserable life, he realized how he lost himself- but now, it was like he found himself again because of Joy.
"Yeah, you are right, I guess," Cammy said and Joy looked at him. He is no longer fading. "Seems like the name Hope really suits you well."
Joy smiled and stood up while Cammy followed. He moved his hands towards Joy's cheeks, hoping he could erase the sad tears that made her look melancholic and worried.
'Just... Please.... Let me.. I don't like people crying because of me....' Cammy thought.
"Wha- how?" Joy asked. She felt a warm hand caressing her cheeks, erasing the tears that streamed there. "How?"
Cammy started to fade again and Joy held his hand. "You are fading again."
Cammy pulled away from her and looked at his fading hands. "So I fade away..."
"Come on, let's search the playground!" Joy said and pulled him by his hands.
" when I regret my death.."
