Bitterly cold and humid - such an enchanting combination. Every surface, every blade of cargoes and steel were growing long ice crystals ten or more millimetres in length. But the cold licked at my face and crept under my clothes, spreading across my skin like the lacy tide on a frigid winter beach. With purple lips tinged with blue and gently chattering teeth I wrapped my thin coat around me tighter.
If I were to recall things, I was sent to the Cold Storage with Pierce to find details about a secret Team Rocket base. So far, we found none, or maybe there was, but our constant struggles to determine who is to command serves as a hindrance until I decided to let him be in charge. First of all, Madam Boss said I was in charge, not him, but he ended up being the one in charge. Secondly, I was tasked to do the fighting, after all, I'm a combat agent, but ended up spying for scouts while he does everything.
Above one of the frozen white cargo is where I wait, using this AWM-like gun for the first time. He taught me that all I had to do is to press the trigger and keep my shots accurate. The darts are not lethal but nonetheless, will cause damage to the mental health of the ones I shoot at. These yellow darts are one of the finest. It contains hallucinogens, and like what the name suggests, it hallucinates people.
So far, our progress is nowhere near a hundred percent. Still no scouts, nor did Pierce find anyone to fight with. It's plainly a room filled with Ice cream like Pokemon and frost shaped heads floating around called Cryogonals. They're intimidating.
"Found anyone?"
"Not yet." we communicated through our walkie talkies.
"Maybe there's none."
"Are you doubting our spies?"
"Everyone makes a mistake."
"But Team Rocket? I highly doubt." I boasted with a smirk.
Out of the blue, an interference occurred. The high and sturdy metal doors of the entrance were broken down in one blow. Smoke from the harsh coldness scattered outside, acting like stun grenades. We couldn't see who entered, but it's obviously not only one. I pointed the gun at the smoke. With its scope, I'd see who entered.
"What was that?" asked Pierce.
"Team Plasma's got a lot of enemies. I believe we're not the only one who's here."
"What?! I'm at sector three, I'm coming back there."
"Quit being a gentleman, I know how to fight. I happen to be the Combat Agent remember? Just go look for Team Plasma. I'll handle sector one."
I moved to a better location and lied down atop a higher cargo box. What I see is the top view of a maze made out of boxes, while on our opponent's sight, they see walls. Spotting me would be difficult since the height of where I'm at, is too tall for one to see that's if, you're looking at the wrong angle.
"Hurry and find Zinzolin." a familiar voice echoed throughout. From the frosty smoke, eight figures appeared. They look like gang members, wearing that cool motorcycle outfits. This could only mean, it's Jenny and her organization.
One stood out from them, their commander. She has a white cloak, the first I've seen since Sinnoh. Her voice, definitely not Jenny.
"Who's there, Luna?"
"O.E.B."
"Can you handle them?"
"Maybe. About Team Plasma? Have you found them?"
"No. I searched everywhere. No one's here, but by the scent. I feel like someone's been here before."
The seven members began destroying the cargo boxes around them with their Ice cream Pokemon. Jenny's team is organized. They've got an Ice brigandage, but then again, destroying the walls of the maze is a major felony.
"That's not fair," I murmured, pointing the gun at their commander. Like the old saying goes, why take down the pawn when you can take down the king?
Once I pressed the trigger, the dart traveled in high speed, incapable of being seen by anyone. At first, I was confident that it would hit, but whoever this familiar commander is, she was able to dodge it. Flawlessly.
"I missed,"
"You what?"
"I'm a Combat agent for God's sake! I'm running an errand for you."
"You sure you're fine?"
"Yes, she just dodged the dart."
"Miss and dodge are different. She knows you're there. Did you use the silencer I gave you?"
"What's a silencer?"
He let out a sigh.
"Was there a sound when you pressed the trigger?"
"Sort of."
"Hide quick."
He disconnected again from the walkie talkie. I left the cargo and jumped down to the second one silently. It was a few meters lower than my previous location.
"She's here," said one of the grunts.
"I know. Go find Team Plasma, leave her to me," said the commander.
"Who is she again?" I asked myself. "She sounds familiar."
The grunts separated and left the sector alone. The two of us were the ones left. She removed her motorcycle helmet, revealing her short black hair and the Yamask mask she has. Now memories start to return.
"Luna Evergreen, we meet again," her voice echoed, looking at where I was hiding.
I peeked out and gulped. "How did you know I was here, Zinnia? So, you've switched teams, or are you possessed?"
"The O.E.B's technology is second to none. You will face dire consequences for meddling with our affairs here."
"Oh really? The last time I checked, we were the first ones here."
"You've changed. What happened to your disorder?"
I paused. "H-H-How did you know that?"
"Team Rocket's database was stolen days ago. Haven't noticed anything?"
"But how did you..."
"We have our ways, our spies. It's simple to steal a member, to bribe one in exchange for money. I've heard of a man. Well, bad luck. Arlo isn't the only one."
"What do you mean, what are you talking about?"
"A wolf in a sheep's clothing. I wouldn't want to stress your mentality, so I won't name anyone."
"My what?"
"It was never gone, Luna. Your personality change? You thought you mastered it? No. You merely forgot about it, but it's still in you."
"Impossible, you can't know about it."
"Its simple to learn through social media. It's the weakness that leaves your strengths vulnerable. Your profile is another thing, but mostly social media. At times you were happy, at times you were playful, but haven't you noticed your anger and resentment? It's still there. You stabbed a member of Team Plasma, I've heard from your profile you murdered many Galactic grunts inside the manhole."
I clenched my fists and threw out Volcarona from her Pokeball.
"Volcarona, Flare Blitz!"
<Vol!>Volcarona disagreed and returned to her Pokeball.
My sudden rage accidentally made me spill harsh words. "What the?! Don't be a lazy ass! Fight now!"
No matter how much I screamed at Volcarona, she still wouldn't listen and get out of her Pokeball.
"You're feeble. You can't even learn how to train a Pokemon. They disobey you."
"No, they listen to me. I can prove it if you want." I looked at Volcarona's Pokeball. "It just appeared that I caught a naughty one by accident."
I gulped. Realizing that I spewed out words without thinking.
"I told you," she murmured. "It's been with you all along. Your friends, they keep you company, with them, you forget that you are on a battle against yourself."
"Commander, Team Plasma is nowhere to be found," the grunts returned.
"Such a shame. Zinzolin has information about the Entralink and the DNA Splicers. No matters, we'll look for the king instead. Let's leave."
"I'm not letting you away that easily after what you said." I shouted, my voice echoed to the point Pierce was alerted. He ran to sector one.
I was about to grab Zinnia's arm when suddenly she threw a stun grenade at me. I coughed, my eyes blinded by the smoke. I tried to shew it off but its thickness made it impossible.
When the smoke was gone, Zinnia and her grunts were gone. I tried running outside to see if they were still there, but not a single clue. I heard the sirens coming closer, the PIP was just nearby. I was so frustrated at what she said, I couldn't focus but to find her.
"Come, we've got to go." Pierce dragged me. "The police are coming."
"Is Zinzolin really gone?"
"No, but I found something better. We've got to report this to Madam Boss immediately."
I decided to abide and instead forget about Zinnia. Though it kept me wondering how and why she joined the OEB in the first place.
