Dawn broke over the horizon illuminating the cottage. Asmodious and Remy had been deep in discussion all night. They both had dark circles and looked haggard. Asmodious, for the first time, looked old to Ellie. She sat up slowly rubbing her head. It hurt. That's when she noticed a red sun on her hand, she looked at her other hand and a pale blue moon was upon it. She began to panic as the memories of the night before filled her head. Remy noticed she was awake and strode over grabbing her hands.
"You need to calm down. Don't panic. There is much we need to discuss." His tone was firm and oddly soothing.
Asmodious walked and stood by his side.
"My child, I need you to tell What you can remember of last night."
Ellie calmed down and looked at them both. Remy was still holding her hands. She recounted her dream in detail right up to the point where she woke up. Neither of them interrupted her. They just patiently listened to what she had to say. After she finished Asmodious spoke:
"I see. This is more worrisome. I had suspected that you were being targeted by the void and you had dragon blood but this is much worse."
Asmodious slumped into a chair and rubbed his head, his body shaking slightly. Ellie thought he was crying, it broke her heart. This was all her fault, if she wasn't a different from others then maybe..just maybe none of this would be happening. She glanced at Remy who had been silently holding her hands and her face turned pale. That look. That look on his face was terrifying, it was a dangerous look. Ellie tried to pull her hands free from his and he jerked his head towards her as if only just realising she was there. He released her.
"Last night you began getting quite warm. Asmodious was worried about you then symbols appeared on your hands then the fireplace exploded almost burning down the church. Asmodious got Miranda and the boys out and I carried you out that all that happened that we were aware of but from what you've said there is a greater force at work." Remy said with furrowed brows.
He turned to Asmodious.
"This goes beyond us. You know what we must do. We cannot hide something that endangers the land."
Asmodious nodded. He looked drained.
"I will make the necessary arrangements. Remy you made a promise to me to be her protector. I expect you to keep it."
"Whats going on!?" Ellie didn't understand.
Remy was her protector? Why? How did that happen?.
"Don't ask such stupid questions. When you wanted to leave the church Asmodious asked me to promise to take care of you. I am his family after all. I agreed."
Ellie was dumbfounded. She knew Asmodious would never let her out of his protection but she had always thought it was James who was her protector. She had no idea it would be Remy.
"I will take my leave. Stay with her and await my return. Don't let her out of sight. Not even for a second and stay here."
Asmodious turned to Ellie.
"My dear child, I know you are worried and curious about what's happening but I beg of you to have patience just for a little longer. All will be made clear soon."
Ellie nodded. He kissed her forehead and with that he left, leaving Remy and Ellie alone.
