章 6: Chapter 5
Asmodious looked at Ellie sobbing in his arms. Although she was nearly 18 now, in his eyes she would always be his child. The gods had gifted her to him for he could not bear children. At least that's what he always believed. Watching her crying in his arms, his heart began to break.
"Shhh.. sush...be calm child I am here...your safe...shhh.." he gently wiped the tears from her eyes.
Her sobbing gradually faded and was replaced by soft snoring.. Poor thing must have cried herself to sleep, he thought. Asmodious turned and began to head home carrying Ellie in his arms. Why had she cried so hard? The last time she had cried like this she was 5 and had said the darkness was trying to eat her and the shadows were following her. He mulled it over in his mind again and again. At the time he had just dismissed it as a child's wild imagination. Could it have to do with the note? He thought about the note left with her.
*Keep her safe..Where she goes darkness will follow..Don't let her fall into darkness..*
He had assumed it meant she would always be in danger. Could there be another meaning?
Before he could finish his train of thought he had arrived home. Miranda stood outside.
"Was she stuck? The little ones arrived back so long ago, I was beginning to worry." She said in a concerned voice. Although she was harsh she did genuinely care for the children.
"I'm not sure what happened. We should let her rest and talk to her in the morning."
He walked past her and took Ellie to her room, he placed her on her bed and tucked her in. She whimpered softley as he tried to leave.
"Alright child I will stay,"
He softly held her hand and sat on the bed. Something caught his eye. On the palm of her hand was a black shape. It hadn't been there before. It was in the shape of a crescent moon. Where had that come from. Asmodious touched it with his finger. He snatched his had away violently the pain was excruciating it coursed up and down his arm, it took his entire willpower not to shout out in agony. But as quickly as it came, it was gone. What just happened? A black mark was now on Asmodious finger tip. What was going on? He braced himself, he cautiously touched his finger tip with his thumb...
