Roselyn's eyes flew open and she found herself drenched in cold water from head to toe which immediately evaporated as the man standing in front of her cast another spell on her.
Her gaze collided with Xander's fiery emerald eyes that were staring back at her and undoubtedly, there was anger burning in them. She would never say it out loud but the man succeeded in intimidating her way too much at that moment, she didn't even dare to confront him for casting the water spell on her.
In the end, she just looked away from his intense gaze and rested her back against the shelf behind her. Her brain was running at full speed trying to understand exactly what happened. There was no sign of Kaito anywhere around them and she couldn't even feel his presence in the library, the man probably left the moment he noticed Xander's presence.
"I thought you hated Kaito Takashi." Xander's words penetrated her thoughts and she found herself clenching her fingers into tight fists, not because she was offended by his comment but because she realized just how easily she gave into Kaito's lure.
"I will kill him the next time he will appear in front of me." She murmured through clenched teeth and was aware that even despite her voice being barely audible, Xander had clearly heard her.
The man smirked at her words as he stepped closer to her and came to stand right in front of her with only a little space left between their bodies. His tall frame towered over her, making her arch her head to look up at his face.
"You are in no position to kill anyone, Roselyn. You can't even control yourself around him, what gives you the confidence that you will be able to hurt him?" His words hit her sharp this time but she couldn't respond because he was eventually speaking the truth.
The man stared into her eyes with a look that was hard for her to understand but then she noticed him taking out a huge book from the section above her head and then he dropped it in her arms before stepping away from her.
The man went around the shelves, clicking his fingers without even taking proper looks at the books he was withdrawing from the shelves. But every time a book landed in her arms, she realized that it was one among the many on her list. It seemed like the man knew exactly where every book was placed in the library.
It took them barely five minutes before they had all the books that she needed and were already making their way out of the library. A fairy was assigned by Ms. Kylie to transfer all their books to their dorm.
Roselyn allowed herself to take a look around the empty hallways as they headed back to their dormitory. There were less than forty-eight hours left before the new semester at the Academy was supposed to start and she was still unable to spot a single soul of any student anywhere in the academy.
It was hard to believe the timing of her misfortune. She was able to make it to the Academy of Immortals, or Shadow Academy, right before the new term started.

Roselyn closed the book of Dark magic that she had been reading, or at least, had been trying to read for the past couple of hours.
She started sometime during noon after having her lunch and it was already half past five o'clock in the evening.
So many hours of reading and she still didn't understand how dark magic worked. It was nothing like her elemental powers, her natural essence.
Her body and mind were continuously rejecting the darkness that was still present inside her and it seemed like a part of her soul was even fighting against her bond with Kaito.
She also realized that as long as Kaito wasn't present physically around her, the bond remained silent and numb as if it wasn't even there to begin with, which was actually a good sign because there were chances the bond would disappear once the initiation period would end.
But as for her bond with River, the story was different there. Not only it wasn't a mere blood bond but a sacred soulmate bond, but it was far more active than her bond with Kaito.
She found herself thinking about Prince River on several occasions, her soul never reacted negatively toward him, and neither did her powers find him unnatural like the darkness moving inside her.
A sigh left her lips as she found herself cursing Kaito in her mind for the millionth time.
Her gaze landed on the shopping bags and boxes that were still piled up in one of the corners of the room. She still hadn't set up the room because she was reluctant to do so.
Even while knowing pretty well that she had to spend the coming few months, or maybe more than that, in the Shadow Realm and at the Shadow Academy, she still couldn't make herself come to terms with the reality.
Letting out another long sigh, she stood up from her bed and moved toward the pile of things that she had bought. She wondered just how much money River had lost while paying for these items. The thought helped make her mood change for the better.
She spent the next hour or so arranging her wardrobe, washroom, bookshelf, and study table. By the time she finished, her stomach was already growling in hunger.
Leaving her room, she walked toward the living room and heard several familiar voices coming from there, and was soon welcomed with a scene that she didn't like at all.
The living room was way more lively than ever as the Crown Prince and his brother were also present there along with Xander who seemed just as unhappy about their presence there as she was. Seemed like there was indeed something similar between them, they both didn't like the two royal dark fae brothers.
