章 48: Home Sweet Home
Shan's eyes slowly fluttered open and she had to squint in order for her eyes to adjust to the blinding lights inside the hospital room.
"You are awake?" Jinhai sat up on the chair beside her bed immediately and moved over to sit beside her on the bed.
"How do you feel? How's your stomach? Did you sleep well?" He threw her a string of questions that left her startled by his presence. She just kept looking at him as she waited for him to stop questioning her so she could ask hers.
"You... slept here?" She asked in a hoarse voice when she noticed he was still dressed in the tux he wore last night.
He said nothing and offered her a bottle of water.
"What are you still doing here?" She asked after having a few sips to wet her dry throat.
"I was looking over you." He answered as he touched her forehead to check her temperature.
"You feel better."
She gave him an amused smile before answering, "I wasn't really sick. Just my belly... and why did you sleep here?" She asked in a surprised voice.
"I didn't want you falling sick at night and there was no one to call the doctor for you. But I'm glad you slept like a baby and even snored deeply." He said with a cheeky smile that made her frown.
"I don't snore."
"Oh yes you do."
"I don't"
"Let's assume so." He said and laughed when she did.
"Thank you." She said politely. "And I'm sorry I put you through all thi–"
"You do not have to apologize for anything. I'll just go call the doctor and we'd know when you are to leave here." He said with a small smile and gently squeezed her hand.
As he was about to leave the room, she called after him..
"What about Lijuan? Did she return home last night?" She asked.
He had called his brother immediately Chairman Mei spoke with him on the phone to tell them about it and Yun had informed him that they were on their way home but when he called again to know whether they had gotten home, Yun told him they had and refused to say anything else before hanging up. He knew his brother well enough to know he was angry.
"She arrived home safely last night. And I think your friend must have annoyed my brother a bit." He informed her.
"Oh God! Typical of Lijuan." Shan muttered under her breath.
"And there is something else..." He said with a cheeky smile as he took out his phone to play the video that has been circulating online.
"Wait. What? Fiance?" She asked in surprise as she watched the news with wide eyes.

Chairman Yang was on his way to work the next morning and almost had a heart attack when he opened the door and saw his grandson, Yang Lei standing there with a big smile on his face.
"Grandfather!" He greeted as he hugged him tightly. "I missed you."
"Move away you rascal!" Chairman Yang turned to push him away even though he was pleased to see him. Lei didn't budge and just held on.
"Why are you here?" Chairman Yang asked.
"The auction went well. Was I not supposed to return once we were done?" He asked with a confused frown that made his grandfather glare at him.
"You are supposed to make sure the items get to the bidders and also ensure they're all paid for."
"But that doesn't concern us. The foundation isn't owned by you" Lei answered with a frown.
His grandfather had only mentioned that he was to handle the auction that night, he hadn't said anything else about making sure the foundation got the money and the bidders received their items.
"Grandfather, I am seriously sleepy. I couldn't sleep at the hotel because I missed you so much." He said with a sad pout and tried to hug him again but the Chairman quickly moved away and shot him an angry look.
Chairman Yang cleared his throat awkwardly and said,
"It doesn't matter. You are still going to do it from here.... I am actually surprised you did a good job." He said before clearing his throat again and moving towards his car.
He paused briefly and turned around to look at his grandson, "You'll find your keys and cards in my bedside drawer." Be told him before entering the car.
"I did it!" Lei said to himself excitedly as he waved his grandfather and went inside the house to get his keys.
"Home sweet home" He said throwing his house key up happily. He couldn't wait to return to his house and bed. He would just rest for the day, and then resume work the next day.
Once he got to his house about forty-five minutes later, he quickly took off his clothes and drew a hot bath for himself.
He had been so busy the past few days and he could feel all his muscles were stiff.
He dipped himself into the bath and moaned in pleasure.
As his body gradually began to relax, he closed his eyes and thought about the last day's event.
He remembered how he handled everything without letting his playful nature come to play.
Working wasn't bad at all. Of course, it wasn't bad when you are the heir of the corporation.
It was time for him to start being serious with his life especially at this age.
He suddenly remembered Wang Yun. They had both attended the same highschool and while Wang Yun had been the very quiet and intelligent kid who liked to keep to himself, he on the other hand had neither been too quiet nor too noisy.
"Ohhhhh... this feels nice." He said as he adjusted his body and felt the water rise.
He picked his phone by the side of the tub and decided to go through the news. He was pretty sure there would be some information about the auction last night and how 'boss-like' he had been, plus he also had to know whether any significant thing had happened during the 40th anniversary party of his father's company.
Once he opened his browser, he realised the trending news was all about Wang Yun.
His brows furrowed in curiosity as he sat up and clicked on the news. He also read out the headline which said...
"Wang Motors Vice President Wang Yun during an auction held at Yang Corporation's Hotel De Classique introduced himself as Mei Corporation's young mistress, Mei Lijuan's fiance."
Lei watched the news in confusion. Did it mean the both of them were not formally engaged before?
So the lady was from Mei Corporation? He asked himself.
Well, none of that concerned him. He was there to check whether he would find any news about himself. But after scrolling and scrolling, his face got darker when he couldn't find anything about him.
He hissed in annoyance and dropped his phone by the side of the tub but unfortunately, he had miscalculated and the phone fell into the tub instead.
"Damn it!" He screamed out.
