章 17: A not-so coincidental meeting.

"You're really bent on moving?" Madam Wang asked Yun from the doorway. She stood watching him as he arranged his clothes and other possessions.

"I'm only leaving the house, you'll still see me at work everyday... There is really no reason for you to worry." Yun said going over to hug his mother.

She moved away from his hug and moved farther into the room.

"What about the Kleptomaniac? Why are you moving into the same estate the Mei family lives in if you're really not interested in her? Or you thought I wouldn't make enquires about where you're moving to and the people who live there?" She asked giving him an accusatory look.

"Not again mother! And why do you keep calling her Kleptomaniac. She has a name for goodness sake, please use it." He said with a disappointment laden in his voice.

'Hypocrite! You call her pen thief yet you're telling your mother to not call her a Kleptomaniac.' A voice in his head chided him.

'I don't call her that in the presence of people, I only call her that in my head.' He told himself defensively.

"See? You like her! I can tell you like her. You're even defending her already." His mother said feigning a sob.

When she looked up at him and found out that he wasn't paying any attention to her and had returned to packing his things she quit acting and walked up to him.

"You have a date tomorrow. I already arranged someone suitable for you." She said and waited for him to argue.

"Okay. Text me the time and location and I'll be there. Now mother, if you'll excuse me I have to get busy." He said before leading her to the door.

"You're coming down for dinner right? You hardly share a meal with us." She said with a disappointed frown before turning to leave.

Jeez! Yun exclaimed immediately she left. Was he ever going to have peace until he left the house? He asked himself after shutting the door.

The door opened almost immediately and he groaned inwardly when he saw Jinhai carrying a bag.

"What's that for?" He asked with a frown.

"I figured since WE are moving tomorrow, I'll drop few of my things in here." Jinhai said with a grin.

We? Yun looked at him in confusion and could almost feel an headache coming.

"I never agreed to accommodating you at my place." He pointed out. Couldn't a man just be alone and have his peace? He groaned inwardly.

"So I'll be taking over your room after you leave but I'll move with you. I want to be here and there" Jinhai said giving him a wink. He had been looking for a way to leave the house and he wasn't going to let go of such opportunity now.

"Suit yourself." Yun told him without sparing him a glance.

"Don't you think we should join them for the last supper? That reminds me, I overheard mother talking about the pretty lady from the club living in the same estate we are moving to. Is that true?" He asked with curiosity as he unwrapped a lollipop.

"What about it?" Yun asked knowing Jinhai was going to say something stupid.

"Are you sure you're not stalking her? You're always showing up everywhere she is. Or do you like her by chance?" Jinhai asked with a cute smile. Nothing interested him more than love stories.

"Why should I like someone like her?" Yun asked uninterestedly as he looked round his room, hoping he wasn't leaving anything behind. He didn't want to think about the pen thief, he was still trying to figure out the best way to deal with her and also to take back his pen from her! He reminded himself never to forget about it again.

"Why shouldn't you? She is pretty after all." Jinhai said sucking noisily on his sweet. "Really pretty.." He added for emphasis sake.

"You're so noisy, please leave my room." Yun said throwing his pillow at Jinhai.

Yang Lei scowled when he recalled his conversation with his grandfather. He wondered why the paparazzi had to make every move he took into a scandal.

He had simply been giving a female friend a friendly embrace in front of an hotel and they had put the pictures everywhere saying he was having an affair with her.

Now his grandfather was pissed and insisting on him settling down. He was supposed to pick a suitable girl during the anniversary party or he'd be forced to start going on blind dates.

He had blurted out that he had a girlfriend without thinking and now his grandfather was giving him two weeks to introduce the girl to the family. Could things be any more complicated than they are already?

A girlfriend? He thought for a while and smiled when the right person popped in his head. Immediately, he picked up his phone.

A big smile spread across Rong's face immediately the phone call disconnected. She would see how Lijuan was going to succeed in marrying Vice President Yun without the approval of Madam Wang..

EARLIER THAT DAY.....

Madam Wang looked through the collection of jewelries in her favourite jewelry store and sighed when she couldn't make a decision. Everyone who knew her knew she was a lover of jewelries.

"This one... or that one?" She asked herself as she pointed at two really expensive limited edition necklaces.

One was made with white gold while the other one was a diamond.

"This or that?" She asked herself again as she considered the options. They were both costly.. worth over thousands of dollars. Even though she was rich, she couldn't spend so carelessly.

"I think both would go well with you." She suddenly heard a young lady's voice behind her and turned around to look at her.

She looked at her with familiarity and after a few seconds, she recognized her.

"Aren't you the eldest young mistress of the Mei family?" Madam Wang asked.

"Yes Madam Wang. I am Mei Rong." She introduced herself with a smile as she walked closer to check out the same necklaces Madam Wang was looking at.

"I do not think anyone else can pull these off the way you would. I think you should take both."

Madam Wang smiled at the compliment. Women always loved compliments.

"I know. But right now, I only need one." Since she was mad at her son, she could only relieve her anger by shopping and she didn't want to over do it.

"How about you take this one..." She pointed at the white gold necklace inside the show glass before pointing at the other one beside it...

"While I buy you this one."

"Really?" Madam Wang looked at her in surprise.

She didn't understand why the lady would offer to buy her such an expensive gift in their first meeting.

"This is actually a secret... but I.." Rong moved closer to whisper in the woman's ear.. "I admire you a lot. You are my role model."

Madam Wang grinned when she heard her.. "Really"

"Yes.. you actually inspired me to do well in running the affairs within the company and it has earned me countless promotions. I think this is a little gift compared to what I have learned from you just watching from afar." She said with a pleasant smile before she asked the saleslady who have been closely following them to take out the jewelries from the show glass.

"You are such a darling my dear.." Madam Wang said with a smile as she looked at her with probe eyes.

It was a good thing meeting a Mei who was nice and respectful. And even though she hadn't really cared about that family, this Mei Rong was really an adorable lady.

"Thank you my dear. I wish there was a way I could repay you." Madam Wang said after her secretary took the bag of jewelries from a saleslady.

"Never mind about it. But whenever you are free, I hope you do not mind having tea with me so I could learn a thing or two more from you." Rong asked humbly.

"Oh my dear.. no problem at all. We can even have tea today... that's if you are free of course."

"Of course I am!" Rong said with a bright smile and made to follow her out but Madam Wang asked,

"Aren't you getting anything?"

"I wanted to get my mother and sisters some jewelries, but I guess I can just return for it later."

During their tea session, she had indirectly hinted to Madam Wang about finding a 'suitable' hushand and that was after stating all her accomplishments of course.. and now... here she was! A blind date had been set for Wang Yun and herself.

She smiled at her reflection on the mirror. If there was something she wanted, nothing ever stopped her from getting it.

She hoped Madam Wang would continue to think their meeting was merely a coincidence.. She was going to keep surprising them all till she had Wang Yun to herself.
