章 42: A messy banquet (2)

Everyone could feel that something was wrong. What did Mrs. Vine mean by what she had just said? 

"A part of this family? What is that supposed to mean?" Louis was the first to ask Mrs. Vine before looking at where their parents were seated. 

The silence lingered longer before Mr. King spoke stiffly. "The food is going to get cold." 

That was the cue for them to eat, and he started, but many others around the table couldn't bring themselves to eat.
