It was the next day when I went to pick up the cart from my father, along with gathering a pair of girls. There is some truth to the matter, in that I have not been spending much time with them. I now have my own life to create, and it has been needing me to spend nearly all my time to establish it.
There is also some truth in that my sisters rarely ever have a chance to mingle with the villagers. A trip of a significant amount of time, each way, makes social engagements difficult to become involved with them. So, there are few opportunities afforded to them to nourish there social identities. Father was being considerate of them, with their chance to spend the time with me.
This was also the first time that any of my family members had visited my nearly completed domicile. I was still living in the basement of my house. That was only for the reason, in the have not completed the roof that would offer me some protection from the elements. But the house that I had envisioned was now able to be recognized by someone other than my own self.
"You have been living in a hole. Are you some type of groundhog?" (Katarina)
"I can't deny that. But, I shouldn't be down there for too much longer." (Rehor)
"Why aren't you going to live there anymore?" (Sofija)
"I won't be living in the cellar. I will just be able to spread out to the ground level." (Rehor)
"Is your wife going to move in with you then?" (Sofija)
"When did I get a wife?" (Rehor)
"Well… you have your own house. You have to be married to have your own house." (Sofija)
"It doesn't work that way, Sofija. He'll have to find a woman that would want him before he could get married." (Katarina)
"Is there something wrong with him, that a woman doesn't want to be with him?" (Sofija)
"Yeah, is there something wrong with your bother, that a woman want to marry me?" (Rehor)
"Everything is wrong with him. Other than that he has two cute and adorable sisters that he ignores." (Katarina)
"He doesn't ignore me. He plays with me every time he comes over." (Sofija)
"Is that so? So I am the only sister that he ignores?" (Katarina)
"He's a meany." (Sofija)
"I only ignore her because she hits me whenever she sees me." (Rehor)
"That's not good Katarina. You shouldn't hit him." (Sofija)
"Thank you, Sofija." (Rehor)
"Now I'm the villain?" (Katarina)
"You reap what you sow." (Rehor)
"Jerk." (Katarina)
"You are what you are, an hermana." (Rehor)
"What was that?" (Sofija)
"It's the truth that describes her perfectly. And she doesn't know what it means." (Rehor)
"What's it mean?" (Sofija)
"I'm not telling. You'll never know." (Rehor)
How easy it is to interact with my sisters. With of the both of them there, I have more chances to contemplate my response, instead of forcing out an instant reply to each utterance. There is also the lack of questioning of my inability to seem normal. They are my family, they have to accept me. Tough luck for them.
"Is that enough needling of each other? Or should I continue going along with it, and not get any work done?" (Rehor)
"I think you have been insulted the least, so more mocking is required." (Katarina)
"Fair enough. I will stand here and take any such barbed words coming from you. I don't need to go to town today, anyways." (Rehor)
Aghast, Katarina stared at me. My threat had struck her in a sensitive area. She did really want to go to the village today, mindless of the joy that she would receive from hassling me. Having some sort of power can bring some benefits, I guess.
"I'm done with the jabs. And so are you Sofija." (Katarina)
"No I'm not. Rehor has been mean to you. I need to stick up for you." (Sofija)
"You are such a gallant knight, protecting the innocent damsel in distress." (Rehor)
"I know. Teeheehee." (Sofija)
There are times when I do not know if Sofija is joking or being serious. She is young enough in that she is still ignorant and innocent. She is also starting to get old enough, where she fathoms ideas that I did not know that she knew.
"Give me a few minutes to load up the cart, and we can head towards the village. Look around if you would like." (Rehor)
"Aren't you going to show us around?" (Katarina)
"Maybe once we get back. I told Mommy and Daddy that I would let you stay over tonight if the trip took too long. I think we have some time later on today." (Rehor)
"We can stay here tonight? I've never stayed overnight at any place than with Mom." (Sofija)
"You can stay, only if you protect me from your evil sister." (Rehor)
"What about me?" (Katarina)
"If you want, you can stay over." (Rehor)
I am not able to say that I would be adverse for them to spend the night in my company. I am content enough to be content with my solitude. Yet, there are times where I would like someone to accompany my reclusive lifestyle. My sisters would help scratch that itch, at least for one night.
While I left them to there own devices, I started to load the cart with Girts' new pots. With luck, I was able to produce eight pots successfully, out of the nine that I had made. The only one that was not successful, was accidentally dropped when I was loading up the kiln for the final firing, after I had glazed it.
While I admit that I was still developing my own set of glazes, when I applied it to the pots, I was able to find a batch that produced a yellow tint to the work. Letting the yellow glaze intermingle with the ash glaze that produced the silver-like color, had a pleasing impression.
I would like to find some more colors of glaze for my work, but as of yet, I have not been able to find anything that would give me some more impressive colors. I know I have seen blues and greens on some pieces or pottery, but I do not know how they were produced. Even if I did know, I am not sure if I could find what was required to produce those colors.
I was doing some very quick research on pottery glazes, and found that the blue color that I was thinking of, came from cobalt. With how few deposits that I saw were available on earth, I realized I couldn't just let him find cobalt ore just for pottery. As for green, it might be possible. Random stones might allow for that. So some of the more vibrant colors will not be available to Rehor. At least for the time being.
For reading the story, I say thank you.
