章 46: Earth's Edge

Compared to the auction house, the town hall really didn't stand out too much. This building was also in the rich area of the city where all buildings were multiple stories high. And with all the buildings here looking pretty good the town hall didn't look different at all. The only differences were the widened entrance and the big iron number four that was nailed to the wall above the entrance.

This indicated this was the fourth town hall of the city.

Once he got inside he was rather surprised by how busy it was. People were waiting in long lines, he estimated most of these would have to wait for multiple hours at least. Above each line was a wooden board indicating what you would be waiting for.

The labels were quite divergent ranging from Public affairs, complaints and civil servants to Housing, magic, and appraisals. The housing lane only had 2 people before he arrived, yet despite this, it still took multiple hours for him to be helped.

Since he already had the great quality land deed the process was quite simple. He only had to give his name and a bit later another civil servant came from within another room holding a small portrait of him. This way they would always know who the owner was.

Thanks to the quality of the land deed he could get a shop on the main shopping street, after having a look at the available locations he picked one that was in the very middle of the street. And once this was settled he was given a small folder.

The folder showed small portraits of all sorts of specialists, salesmen, blacksmiths,... He even saw they had an A+ grade merchant available. But well obviously these were way too expensive.

Realizing he couldn't afford any of these right now, Jay headed back towards the warp gate, making sure he was in a heavily populated area all the way through.

The lot he had gotten would be available the next day, so he could only enter it at that point. So for now, he decided to head back to First City and see if they had any decent salesmen.

Back in First City, nothing had changed, they once again had a small pile of lightstone and a bunch of other minerals. The citizens were allowed to take some of the more common minerals whenever they wanted, this was in order to create more craftsmen, so obviously they couldn't be sold.

In the end, Jay picked 2 C+ grade traders he had acquired recently. They would be able to do a decent enough job for the time being. As long as they didn't encounter a B+ grade swindler they should be fine.

They were given some low-grade interspacial items to make travel cheaper and more convenient. They were also told to always keep on armor, Pangea was an empire which focused on the military, this was something he wanted to be clear.

Other than minerals, the traders also got a bunch of F grade weapons to be sold. He had already armed his own people and since he had a bunch of blacksmiths able to craft F grade weaponry now, supplying his own troops wouldn't be a problem.

So, after sending the 2 traders off to the main city, it was time for Jay to take care of some other business.

At this point, First City was bustling again, people were doing their own jobs during the day, training when it hit evening. It was so busy that at this point there were 4 different barracks. The 2 barracks in the inner city had the best quality of teachers while the other 2 barracks weren't of such great quality.

Jay obviously wanted everyone to be trained by the best but this wasn't possible right now due to a lack of experts, something he was afraid would always exist. So he decided to give those living in the inner city preferential treatment. For those who wanted to love there, they would simply have to get enough merit points.

But even now the true elite were considered to be those within the magic tower. Only those with great magical talent would be accepted and they would be able to meet their Lord regularly. Seeing the public opinion was as such Jay couldn't help but let out a breath in relief. The last thing he wanted was for mages to be discriminated against due to their lacking physique, but thanks to the magic tower and their proximity to him this didn't look like it would be a problem.

After spending a bit more time thinking of all the options he had, he decided to head towards the ruins again. Last time they had gotten a great amount of benefits from that place but they hadn't been able to explore everything. Now that both himself and General Green were Tier 1 warriors he was confident he would be able to safely explore that place.

His main concern wasn't really anything of the ruins themselves but instead the possibility of another Lord finding it, after all, it was possible the ruins would have a back entrance and he didn't want anyone else to get a legacy like Geralt had gotten.

For that reason, he wanted to clear the ruins fully, and if there was a back entrance he would build a silver grade village there, this way he wouldn't have to worry about being surprise attacked from so closeby.

Right now, he had 8 bronze settlement tokens, this would translate into 2 silver ones.

With these tokens, he could transform Twin City into a gold grade village but he decided against that. He would rather have 2 additional bases, one on the other side of the ruins and another west of First City.

He figured this way potential enemies would find one of his other settlements before First City, engaging in a fight against said city first. Then they would certainly be informed before any enemies would be able to get close to them.

And so soon Jay and general Green left, with thirty of their best men alongside them.

They had expected things to be like last time, going down the stairs would take a good while so they would take their time as to not get exhausted. Yet just as they started descending, they heard sounds from beneath them.

At the first door stood one of Jay's golems, this golem was here to protect the ruins. Yet at this point it was getting attacked fiercely, the door it was guarding had opened from the other side and spells were landing on the golem constantly. Even though golems had a high defense he wouldn't be able to hold on for long. After an hour it would probably get incapacitated.

Yet, just as the group decided to go down and prepare for the enemies something happened. A large explosion blew the golem back, causing it to explode into pieces

A Tier 1 spell!

Jay and General Green immediately went down as fast as they could, but even with their speed it would take them half an hour to get downstairs, and at that point, they would be exhausted.

Just as the duo cursed realizing they shouldn't engage the enemies rashly a few people stepped into their view.

A man with a sword and 2 women without weapons. The women were twins and were each fairly tall, yet there was an unmistakable air of elegance in their actions.

Jay who had halted his steps by now, looked down nervously. Each of these people were Tier 1 experts. Their aura made that much clear. The trio downstairs also spotted them, they too, got a bit nervous.

After seeing the huge staircase before them and the troops trailing behind Jay and General Green, they retreated out of sight, possibly to gather more troops themselves.
