Yang Yi was taken to Owen's office.
As the senior officer heading the safety department, Owen could leave work at whatever time on any day. However, he hadn't yet left the office even though it was late at night.
For some reason, Owen was particularly excited to see Yang Yi this time, "It is you. I do wonder how it could be you though."
Owen was puzzled. Standing behind his desk, he asked doubtfully, "How could you survive? Is the Boxing King an idiot?"
Yang Yi gave a shrug and replied innocently, "The Boxing King committed suicide. It has nothing to do with me."
"Suicide? He committed suicide?"
"Isn't it right that everyone has their moments of weakness?"
Owen shook his head and lowered his head in contemplation. After some time, he shook his head again and smiled, "I thought I placed a sheep in a pack of wolves, who knew that it was actually a lion wearing a sheepskin. All this while I thought you were a docile and delicious prey. I didn't expect you to have hidden your claws and fangs."
Owen then spread out his hands and continued, "I thought you would become the inmates' plaything or commit suicide after you couldn't endure it any further. I intentionally arranged for you to stay with a swindler so that you would survive longer. After all, you were sent in here by Raymond."
Yang Yi was stunned by what he had heard. Owen stopped for a moment and sighed, "There are only the two of us right now. It's best I make things clear. I do expect a substitute that's been sent to prison to pass his time here quietly and leave once the prison sentence is up. On the other hand, I would rather the substitute die early if he causes trouble for me."
Raymond was the person who arranged for Yang Yi to be sent to prison. As the middleman, he was connected to Owen somehow.
What Owen said was easy to understand. It was best for substitutes to keep a low profile. The prison would have to quickly suppress any problems caused by them. If left unattended, it would become a major trouble when the judiciary system initiated an investigation.
Thus, it was definitely more convenient to get rid of this kind of inmate who could easily expose the prison's illegal dealings.
Since Yang Yi had an irreconcilable feud with the Boxing King, Owen had been willing to allow Yang Yi to be quietly killed when the conflict between the two of them erupted. Of course, Owen could have had the Boxing King eliminated or moved Yang Yi to the felony section to resolve the conflict.
However, why would Owen choose either of those options? It was much more beneficial to Owen if Yang Yi died. No one would ever ask about the inmate again and it would tie up any loose ends forever.
Both Raymond and Owen would definitely have the confidence pull it off since they dared to run an inmate substitution business. Moreover, a lot of people would be dragged under if the business ever came to light. So, they were always very careful who they chose to become a substitute. Generally, they would always choose someone whose death no one would care about. Thus, Yang Yi was an exception.
Owen pointed at Yang Yi and grimly said, "I told Raymond about your situation and my intention to get rid of you. However, I didn't expect him to tell me to spare your life."
Owen was a candid scoundrel. As such, Yang Yi couldn't come to dislike his straightforwardness.
"It's strange that when I told Raymond you would definitely die and it was best for him to arrange a new identity for his client, he beseeched me to save you. I have no idea what your arrangement is with Raymond, but his request was a real headache since I believed you were definitely dead. So, I'm very happy that you have survived."
Reaching this point in his explanation, Owen started to wave his hand about and smiled. "You knew to fake the Boxing King's death as a suicide. Things will be much easier to solve because of that. Most of the inmates here are simple idiots with well-developed muscles. They would rather get sentenced to a few more decades then use their brain. You did a good job. So, you don't have to worry about lawsuits and being given an additional sentence. You can go back to your cell and serve out the remainder of your sentence."
Yang Yi replied softly, "Thank you."
Owen shook his head as he replied, "Don't thank me. The person you should thank is Raymond. Keep this in mind. I will not tolerate you if you keep causing trouble for me. Do you understand?"
"I understand."
"Good. You can leave now."
"Wait. A moment please, sir. Can you transfer me to the felony section? The Boxing King has a lot of men. I will just end up clashing with them if I remain in this section. Can you transfer me over to the felony section?"
Owen smiled and mockingly asked, "You would rather transfer to the felony section than face the Boxing King's men? Are you kidding? The Boxing King's men are like harmless babies if you compare them to the madmen from the felony section. You won't have to worry about anything now that you have killed off the Boxing King. No one will dare to mess with you."
Yang Yi let out a breath as he asked again in embarrassment, "I really want to be transferred over to the felony section. Can you do me this one favor, sir?"
Owen frowned and solemnly asked, "Why? There must be a reason why you must enter the felony section."
Yang Yi laughed, "I'm going there to look for someone. Sir, I don't wish to cause you trouble but there are things I have to do here. I took advantage of Benjamin's identity to get in here. Do you get what I'm trying to say? There are some things you are better off not knowing. This will benefit both of us. I suggest you ask Raymond if you still want to know. He will give you proper advice on what to do."
Now that he had the credibility, Yang Yi had decided to scare off Owen. It might sound absurd but Yang Yi had easily disposed of the Boxing King and survived seven days of solitary confinement. He didn't seem like an ordinary person and didn't mind others thinking he was a hitman and a part of an organization.
After some hesitation, Owen replied resolutely, "I will transfer you to the felony section."
"Thank you, sir! Sorry to bother you but I have one more question. Just now you said you arranged for me to stay with a swindler. What does that mean? Is Chris a swindler?"
Owen nodded, "That's right. He's a notorious swindler. I arranged for you to stay with him since he's pretty much harmless. Is there a problem?"
What a shocking revelation!
Yang Yi swallowed and asked in astonishment, "He's a swindler? Why is he in prison then?"
Owen shrugged, "He's in here for fraud. Don't you know? He's very notorious. He deceived a lot of people and made off with a lot of money. It was all over the news when he was finally caught. What has he done now?"
