章 48: EPISODE 48: The Mighty Hyena Turf
There are a lot of Pokemons with different types of personalities. Some Pokemons prefer to be isolated, these are the Pokemons with a serious nature or those who live to train, to eat, and to sleep. Some Pokemons prefer to live with the same species which forms one turf, these are the Pokemons who are low tempered and determined. They exist to protect each other, to strive, to kill, to hunt, to reign tyrant over other turfs.
Both personalities have advantages and disadvantages. Those who prefer to be alone become strong but aggressive when other Pokemons disturb them. Those who prefer to stay in groups become protective but the group relies on each other, to give meaning, those who are in groups are not used to be alone, and if they're alone... They're vulnerable to different attacks, to different dangers.
But we cannot blame them for their personality, it was their choice and decision, and when we make a decision, we do not regret.
Today, me and my friends I accidentally disturbed a Pokemon turf, which made them frustrated and annoyed. This is where it all began:
When you travel, you're never too sure about what's to come. Especially route nine, a rocky and jagged terrain filled with dangerous lurking Pokemons. The terrain had a large canyon as well lurking with rock and water type Pokemons. It is fun to travel in canyons, your voice can produce an echo, and there were a lot of rocks which form an object or thing due to weathering and erosion.
: Rioluuuuuuuu! Riolu's voice echoed as we passed through the canyon. When I was young, me and my parents would visit large canyons even larger than those of route nine! We came there since mom and dad had to do some fieldwork. Every time I go to a canyon, Riolu loves to shout and hear his echo.
"Riolu! Stop shouting! It's annoying me to pieces." Kirlia aggravated as she covered her ears with her hands.
"Why don't you try Kirlia! Shouting is fun especially in a canyon." Riolu uttered and smiled with enthusiasm. Riolu won't stop shouting and Kirlia had enough. "This is my last warning! Stop shouting or I'll attack you with my Psybeam!" Kirlia irked as she floated in front of Riolu. "Yeah Riolu, Kirlia is right, shouting is indeed annoying and irksome." I agreed to what Kirlia uttered.
"Killjoys!" Riolu sighed in disappointment. "I heard that Riolu!" Kirlia badgered.
Camellia, who was beside me kept on staring at my hand. "Come on Camellia, you can do this... Just hold Kalem's hand." Camellia whispered through her mind as her hand shivered. "I can do this...I can hold Kalem's hand."Camellia was eager to hold my hands, in the meantime, Zhery... The mischievous girl went to Camellia.
"Seriously? What's so hard about touching a boy's hand?" Zhery queried in Camellia's here. "Shhh! I'm trying to focus!" Camellia irked as she looked at my hand again. "You really don't know how to touch a boy's hand do you? I'll teach you how. Watch and learn!" Zhery whispered and teased. "What are you planning to do Zhery?" Camellia queried. "Just listen, look, and learn!" Zhery charmed.
Zhery went in front of me and grabbed my hand then she pulled me while she ran. Camellia on the other hand got annoyed. "How dare you hold Kalem's hand!?" Camellia badgered as she chased the both of us. I got dizzy after Zhery pulled my hand and ran. "What was that for Zhery!?" I badgered. "Hee hee!" Zhery laughed. We continued our walk through the canyon.
"Why did you hold Kalem's hand!?" Camellia whispered and badgered. "You're obviously jealous! I just held his hand to teach you how to hold a boy's hand." Zhery laughed and explained. "I know how to hold a boy's hand!" Camellia badgered once more. "Prove it then? Hee hee." Zhery laughed and teased.
Camellia was about to hold my hand while I wasn't looking when suddenly we heard some howls. "What was that?" Glade wondered as he looked around.
The howling continued as Pokemons that looked like wolves surrounded us from the rocks in the sides of the canyons.
The wolf Pokemon looked aggressive, they began to show their wild sharp teeth as they slowly went near us. "Stay still... Don't move." I suggested with a soft and scared tone. "Hey Irys, scan the Pokemon please," Glade whispered.
"Alright no-"
"SHHHH!!!!!" the four of us interrupted Irys as she was speaking too loud. She began to speak again but with a low voice. "Alright, here are the datas about those Pokemon! [Mightyena! The Bite Pokemon! A dark type and the evolved form of Poochyena. MIGHTYENA travel and act as a pack in the wild. The memory of its life in the wild compels the POKéMON to obey only those TRAINERS that it recognizes to possess superior skill.]" The Pokemon looked like Hyenas but with darker and sharper teeth.
The Mightyenas surrounded us and there was obviously no way out. Kirlia was a brave Pokemon who defended me, while Riolu was scared and intimidated. "Leave my trainer alone!" Kirlia badgered as she went in front of me and blocked me.
"Heh? Can a tiny Pokemon like you defeat a turf like us? The name's Zozo and I'm the leader of the Mightyena turf!" Zozo, who is also a mightyena introduced himself to Kirlia. "I said leave my trainer alone! I don't care how many you are!" Kirlia fought back.
"Haha! The cute one is acting like a boss." Zozo teased and laughed. "I've never said that I was a boss, I can defeat you easily if you dare lay a claw on my trainer," Kirlia warned.
"H... Hurt your trainer? You're the ones who passed our turf! We're not going to hurt your trainers, we're going to savage them into pieces and eat every single bone left in their useless bodies!" Zozo teased as the whole turf laughed.
"You think that was funny? Fight me if you're brave!" Kirlia challenged. "No one challenges Zozo! And If they do, they'll die and suffer!" Zozo glared as he walked to Kirlia. Kirlia was afraid but she still stood strong. "Stay back!" Kirlia shouted and used Psybeam as a warning shot. "Grrr! You dare attempt to hurt me!?" Zozo badgered as she pounced on Kirlia but Riolu faced his fear and protected Kirlia and me with force palm. Riolu went in front of Kirlia and punched Zozo in the jaw with force palm. Kirlia started to blush after Riolu saved her.
"The blue one dares challenge our boss!?" One of the Mightyena's badgered as Zozo stood up. "I challenge you to a duel! You measly Pokemon! Protecting measly trainers! You'll have to face and fight me if you want to pass our turf!" Zozo badgered and bargained. "Alright then! Duel accepted, where shall it take place?" Riolu smiled with confidence. "Heh! Follow me!" Zozo ordered.
The other Mightyenas pushed us, we were like prisoners being forced to move to a death chair or somethin' "Hey, do you think we'll be safe?" Camellia whispered. "Yeah, I trust Riolu... He'll win the duel." I said confidently.
The mightyena turf led us to an area within the canyon. It was a large circular area just like a colosseum but made out of rocks. The Mightyenas asked us to sit properly and told us to watch Zozo and Riolu battle. "Hey Riolu, be careful out there!" Kirlia hugged Riolu and wished him good luck.
Zozo entered from the right, and Riolu entered from the left. We cheered for Riolu especially Petilil and Kirlia. "Let's make this a quick game shall we?" Zozo bragged. "If I win, your friends die! Your friends will suffer and they'll be our dinner!" Zozo explained.
"I'll win for sure!" Riolu uttered with confidence.
"Then, let the duel begin!" Zozo shouted as he rushed to Riolu with a high-speed pace. Riolu force palmed Mightyena from the side of Zozo's jaw. We cheered for Riolu as he was the first one to hit Zozo!
"Come here you baffoon!" Zozo shouted as he rushed to Riolu. Riolu smiled and smacked Zozo with force palm again! If Zozo doesn't stand in ten seconds, Riolu wins! 1... 2... 3.... 4.... And Zozo stood up!
Zozo tried to use takedown! Riolu knew that takedown was recoil move, so Riolu moved an inch to dodge Zozo just like a bullfighter holding a muleta. Zozo bumped his hand on the wall. "GO RIOLU!" we cheered as the Mightyenas were looking disappointed at Zozo. 1...2...3.....4.....5.....6.... and Zozo stood up.
"Foolish Pokemon! You dare underestimate my power!?" Zozo bragged. "You're just making a fool out of yourself! Look at your turf members they look disappointed." Riolu teased. Mightyena badgered and used takedown once more but this time, Riolu forgot to dodge. The Mightyenas began to cheer back for Zozo!
1....2....3....4.... and Riolu stood up! Zozo used takedown once more but Riolu grabbed Zozo's paw and threw him to the sky with a seismic toss! 1... 2... 3... 4.... 5.... 6... 7.... 8.... 9... and Zozo stood up!
Zozo was about to run but he fainted. The countdown started to tick, ten seconds has passed and Riolu one! The mighty ends were shocked. I guess they weren't so mighty after all. Zozo stood up looking frustrated. "Fine! Leave! All of you leave our turf!" Zozo badgered. "Leave our turf before we change our mind!" Zozo added.
Riolu went back and hugged me, the Mightyenas however looked disappointed. "I knew we could count on you!" I complimented as I smiled at Riolu.
We left their turf peacefully, but Zozo was having doubts. He was embarrassed after that duel, he got mad and anger conquered his soul. We were walking at the side of the mountain when all of a sudden Zozo ran and bit my arm. The bite was more powerful than Zorua's bite, my arm started to bleed and Zozo didn't lose grip. Kirlia reacted quickly and used Psybeam on Zozo. Zozo fell off the mountain. It was unsure if Zozo survived or not, the important thing is... The Mightyenas gave up on bothering us. "Kalem! Your arm is bleeding!" Kirlia warned. "I... I'm very aware Kirlia." I uttered as I tried to control the pain.
Camellia acted quickly as well, she grabbed her bandage and rushed towards me. "Don't worry Kalem you'll be fine." Camellia comforted as she placed some medicine in my wound and wrapped it with bandages. Sometime later, Scyther helped me ease the pain, he placed my wounded arm around his shoulder as we walked through the mountain. Camellia kept on looking bad, feeling worried sick!
"Don't worry about Kalem, he's fine. You can't even touch his hands!" Zhery teased. I was able to walk properly, but I'll surely have a hard time to eat, so that was how I knew about Pokemon personalities, some Pokemons were like Riolu the serious type! Some were like Zozo the aggressive type! This made me thinking, not all Pokemons are friendly, no matter how much time you spend on persuading someone to change, it won't work, because it was their decision to be like that and like what I said, there's nothing you can do. You can't please everyone, you can't change anyone, but you can please yourself, you can change yourself.
