章 11: EPISODE 11: Apprentice vs Master!
"Today Riolu we're going to do some special training at the Battle Stadium!"
"Fine by me Kalem, I want to get stronger and stronger... and soon enough we could travel to different regions and seek new places!" Riolu babbled in excitement.
"That's the spirit! But first, our main goal is to defeat Kahuna Hala and get that Z-Crystal!"
Observing above the battle stadium was Hala and Beatrice together with their Pokemon!
"That Kalem, he is such a spirited kid," Hala uttered.
"He got that attitude from his mother. His mother Lyra and I were rivals and best friends when we first started out on our journey" Beatrice recalled.
"Oh right, the incident in Silver-heart city, what happened?" Hala inquired.
"There was an explosion... The police and their head general detective Looker said that a Pokemon caused it" Beatrice said softly.
"Terrible... Why would a Pokemon do such a thing?" Hala questioned.
"I... I don't know, I called Lyra after I heard about the explosion, but she didn't answer her Rotom-phone... Then detective Looker told me that Lyra and Cypress were dead. I sobbed, I told detective Looker to go to their house, because I knew that Lyra and Cypress had a son..." Beatrice sighed.
"So that's why Kalem is here... His determination and spirit made me remember someone I knew who lived in the Kanto region."
While I and Riolu were training and boosting up speed, I was interrupted by Glade and his Shynx.
"So, training for the challenge are you?"
"Of course Glade, It won't just help me in the challenge, but it also allows me and Riolu to get even closer!"
"If that's the case... I didn't have the chance to battle you yet... You still owe me a battle remember?"
"Oh right, I remember! We were about to battle until I met Marley."
"So what do you say Kalem? Do you accept my challenge?"
"Glade... I accept your challenge! It will be a one on one Pokemon battle"
"Shynx I choose you!"
"Riolu show your best!"
"I'll attack first Kalem!"

"Shynx use volt tackle!"
"Riolu intercept that volt tackle with quick attack!"
*Riolu intercepts volt tackle*
*Shynx takes recoil damage*
"We can handle recoil damage, Shynx use Thundershock!"
"Riolu dodge that move, then use Karate chop!"
*Thundershock was dodged by Riolu*
*Riolu used Karate Chop but it missed*
"Shynx use volt tackle once more!"
"Riolu, then intercept with quick attack!"
"Not this time Kalem, Shynx... jump into the air then pounce!"
"Oh no, Riolu looks up then cover your head your arms!"
Shynx's volt tackle is strong indeed, but Riolu's defense is stronger!" Like they say the best offense is defense!"
"Now Riolu push Shynx up with your hands!"
Riolu pushed hard and tried hard, until the thorns on Riolu's hand started to glow.
"Riolu's arm wh... why is it glowing?" Glade face was in awe,
Then moments later, Shynx blasts off through the air landing on Glade. But I was surprised that Shynx could still battle.
"Me and Shynx haven't given up yet!" Glade told us.
"But... Kalem, your Riolu... It learned Metal claw!"
"So that's what its called, Riolu lets use your new move, use metal claw!"
All out of nowhere, Shynx started to glow. Riolu was so shocked that he halted his attack.
"Your Riolu's doomed now!"
"Wh... What's happening to your Shynx!"
"Shynx is finally evolving!"
"Evolving? Oh no... That's a disadvantage for us!"
*Glade's Shynx evolved into Luxio*
"Hehe he... Luxio use your powerful volt tackle!"
"Riolu use metal claw on Luxio!"
"Like what sir Copper said, its bond that matters not evolution!" I emphasized.
"Me and Luxio are very close too you know!"
Our attacks were about to collide when suddenly...
"Stop the battle!"
The headmaster shouted above as she slowly went down
"H... headmaster? You've been watching us?" Glade asked.
"Yes, both of you battled impressively... Me and Hala were in awe"
"Wait, Hala was watching too?!" I asked
"He'll be spectating our battle to Kalem?"
"Wh... what do you mean headmaster Beatrice?"
"Kalem, I want to see how strong you have become... So, Kalem! Accept my challenge! I want to battle you!"
"I was your mother's rival and best friend, I wonder... If you are as strong as her?" The headmaster added.
"Wait, so you have met my mother?"
"Yes... We were friends since grade school, your mother was a very strong trainer, but when she married your father... She decided to become a Pokemon professor instead!" the headmaster explained.
"Alright headmaster, me and Riolu accept your challenge!"
"Glade, please be the referee of this battle."
"Alright Ms. Beatrice... We'll be the referee."
"This will be a one on one Pokemon battle! Either side, please choose your Pokemon!"
Hala sat down, holding a cup of coffee and looked down at the stadium... He knew that Kalem would lose definitely but he watched... He wanted to see Kalem's bond with his Pokemon, he wanted to know... "What kind of battling style does Kalem have to offer?"
"Alakazam! Battle with me!" The headmaster sent out his Pokemon!
"Riolu, let's go!"
"The battle will end when either trainer's Pokemon has been knocked down!"
"Riolu use metal claw!"
"Alakazam use Psybeam!"
*Riolu's metal claw missed.*
"Riolu dodge the Psybeam then go closer to Alakazam"
*Riolu dodged the Psybeam!"
"I know what you're trying to do Kalem! Alakazam lift Riolu up with Psychic then hit Riolu on the floor!"
ALAKAZAM!!! (Alakazam followed the command!)
"Oh no Riolu!"
"Come think! think! You can do this Kalem!" I whispered to my mind. Glade however watched the battle with awe.
"Kalem I know you can do it!" Glade cheered!
"That's it! I know what to do!" I whispered once more to my mind.
"Riolu circle around Alakazam with Quick attack!"
"Alakazam, keep a close eye on Riolu!"
"Keep spinning around Riolu, but as you spin go closer to Alakazam "
"That's it, Alakazam use Telekinesis!"
*Alakazam floats in mid-air!"
"Riolu jump then use Karate Chop!"
"I knew it! Alakazam uses Psychic on Riolu before that Karate chop hits you! then throw Riolu back to the floor!"
*Riolu's Karate chop missed...*
*Alakazam throws Riolu back to the floor with Psychic!"
"Come on Riolu, stand up! I know you can do it. Show the headmaster how determined you are to win!"
"I see... Riolu's determination and Kalem's optimism is what makes them a perfect bond!" Hala observed.
"Alakazam finish the battle with Psybeam now!"
"Riolu is unable to battle, the winner is Ms. Beatrice and Alakazam!" Glade proclaimed.
"Oh no... Riolu!" I ran and picked up his body.
"Are you alright Riolu?!"
"I... I am, but I wished that we would have won!" Riolu Sighed.
"Don't worry Riolu, we'll become strong too... It's just a matter of time!" I tried to cheer Riolu up!
"That was a nice battle Riolu!" The headmaster said.
*Riolu smiled at Beatrice.*
"As for you Kalem, good luck on your island... I mean Region challenge!"
"Thanks so much, Headmaster, me and Riolu really do have a long way if we want to become a Pokemon master!"
"And never give up on that dream, Pursue and strengthen, then maybe one day you'll defeat me." The headmaster explained.
"Wow Kalem, that was an intense battle, me and Luxio were so nervous! But even though you lost, you still battled greatly." Glade complimented me even if I lost.
Then, all of a sudden, The Kahuna stepped out and shouted towards me.
"Good luck on my challenge tomorrow Kalem!"
"I will Kahuna Hala!" I shouted back with an optimistic look on my face.
"You two take a rest now, today has been one long tiring day!" The headmaster called it a day!
"Gnaaaaaaaaaw..." I yawned... After that thrilling battle I and Riolu wanted to take a nap, but no way we're missing dinner!
"You must be sleepy Kalem, but you know we haven't eaten dinner yet."
"I know Glade, I'll sleep right away after me and Riolu eats dinn-"
"Oh hey Glade, hey Kalem! How's training?" Zhery came and asked looking tired.
"Me and Glade battled, then Riolu learned a new move called Metal claw"
"On the other hand, My Shynx evolved into Luxio!"
"Wow Your newly evolved Luxio looks even stronger than when it was just a little Shynx." Zhery complimented.
"And I'm surprised that Riolu learned metal claw! That was amazing Kalem!"
"Thanks Zhery!"
"So how did your mom's errands go? Were you able to finish them all?" Glade asked.
"Yeah... I did every single one of them, now I'm tired" Zhery said with a sleepy voice.
"Oh that's right! I forgot to tell you, but I and Riolu battled your mother Zhery!"
"WHAT?! Awwww So that's why mother asked me to do those errands..." Zhery said with a disappointed look on her face.
"Come on, enough talking, for now, let's go to the dining hall and eat right away so we can rest right away!" Glade suggested.
"Walk faster the two of you!" Glade instructed.
"Hey... Glade we don't need to be in a rush, I'm tired from battling"
"And I'm tired of doing my mother's errands..."
Me and Zhery explained.
"Alright...Alright... I'm sorry I made the both of you rush."Glade apologized.
"So Riolu are you ready for the challenge tomorrow!" I asked Kalem before we slept.
"Yes I am Kalem!"
"Then let's do our best for mom and dad!" I told Riolu as I looked up to the stars.
Then all of a sudden, the Pokemon egg shook.
"Look Kalem, look! The egg, its shaking"
"I guess you know what that means Riolu, the egg will be hatching soon, we're about to have a new Pokemon!" I baffled.
"But aren't you going to tell Glade and Zhery about the egg?"
"Oh I forgot, I'll just tell them tomorrow... but for now, let's focus on defeating the challenge and passing the Grand trial!"
