"New beds, clothes, shoes, toothbrushes," Seokjin typed the things they needed to buy once they arrived at the convenient store, "What else do both of you need to buy-"
The older hybrid he did a double take when he looked to his side and both of the kids were nowhere to be seen, "Where the he—holy Merlin where did they go?!" he slapped himself internally when he almost cursed.
He ran back when he saw both of the kids squatted down, "Taehyung! Jungkook! Don't suddenly vanish like that!" he scolded. Jungkook picked up some snow and molded it into one small snowball before throwing it at Taehyung's face.
"Yes~" the kids answered him half-heartedly. Seokjin poked their foreheads a little bit harshly.
"Come on, boys," he offered his hands to both of them but instead of accepting them, Taehyung raised his hands in the air so Seokjin picked him up and held Jungkook's small hands, "we need to buy a lot of things."
It was hard going to the supermarket with two hyperactive kids. There were so many parents with their kids, whining and begging for new clothes and toys.
Taehyung and Jungkook were no different. The tiger hybrid jumped down from his grasp and ran to the kids' section, shouting he wanted this 'cool' hoodie. Meanwhile Jungkook tugged on his shirt and kept pointing at the black shirt and black trouser (the kid said he hated pink but when Seokjin talked about his pink bunny; he pouted and snatched that doll back from Seokjin's hand).
Seokjin grabbed Jungkook by his collar when the boy about to dash to the Gacha-pon's corner, "Let's pick some clothes for your older brother first, big guy," he patted Jungkook who pouted.
"It's not fair!" Jungkook whined, "I want that black shirt," Seokjin cooed.
Taehyung grabbed a bunch of shirts and pants, and Seokjin decided on some adorable yet fashionable clothes for him. It was weird when all Jungkook chose was dark colors, so Seokjin chose more colorful clothes for the little boy.
He watched his surroundings and saw one of the mothers guessing the sizes by matching the shoulder of her son with the shirt, "Both of you turn around," he said, Taehyung and Jungkook's backs facing him while he checked if their sizes were right by the length of their shoulder.
Both of them giggled happily when Seokjin chose a matching shirt he ended up buying for himself because Taehyung forced him to.
"Pajamas~"
"Underwear!"
"Shirts!"
"Socks~"
The three of them sang along some random melodies, five-minute lyrics and some stupid phrases Seokjin believed they invented today. Taehyung held his little brother's hand tightly, eyes sparkling as they passed the supermarket's shelves.
Seokjin waited patiently as the kids chose their own clothes, face too serious for a three years old kid and a five years old kid. The black haired hybrid held back his laugh when Jungkook couldn't choose between two baby blue shirts, the only difference was the one had a bear on it while the other had a plane. They bought two at the end.
Most of the ladies there giggled behind his back, whispering loud enough for him to hear.
'Look at that hot man,' one of the women said.
'Young father? Where is their mom? Single parent?'
'Hybrid family, no wonder; they're really pretty.'
'They are siblings, not father and sons!'
'He is too young to have one.'
'Maybe he is in his early twenties ?'
He looked at the list of the things he made in his phone, clothes; check , "Now let's see the bed section," he held Taehyung's hand. They ended up buying some unnecessary ornaments because Taehyung insisted they were for 'aesthetic' purposes. He wondered who taught this five years old tiger hybrid.
He never knew babysitting toddlers was this hard. One of them kept running while another one kept asking him weird questions. Weirdly, he felt happy and somehow warm; maybe because for years, he used to go shopping alone.
He used to love kids when he was a middle school student, he would go with his best friend that helped a nearby daycare for free. He loved how they laughed at his jokes, how they asked about his day and when he taught them how to draw an adorable white alpaca he named RJ; even though he was so awkward around kids.
One glance and you'd know Seokjin wasn't good with children. He was too awkward with them. But if you squint your eyes correctly, there's no doubt you will find fondness in his eyes.
Seokjin still had the touch. He heard from Namjoon that Taehyung was a crybaby. Once he cries, no one can make him stop until he goes to sleep, the only one who could calm him down was his grandfather. Now the only one who can calm Taehyung down is Seokjin.
Right, daycare, nursery school. He will tell both of the kids later about this, the problem was he had no idea of what kind of procedures he had to go through.
Seokjin paid for the shipping fee in cash. Luckily he still had some cash inside his wallet when the cashier said he had to pay for the things he bought such as beds, a couch, a coffee table, and a lot of other things for their new apartment first.
Yes, he moved from his old apartment. Not just that, he changed almost everything about his life since the day he took Jungkook and Taehyung in.
He stopped smoking, he stopped going out at midnight, he threw his cell phone and used his old phone with just Namjoon and Dongwook's numbers, as well as Yoongi's and Hoseok's.
His old apartment was located near downtown, a noisy place for kids. Also unfriendly, as he needed to pass dirty alleyways to go to his old apartment, there were many dangerous and filthy views. Unsightly for kids, he couldn't let the boys see something like that.
"I'm tired..." Taehyung rubbed his eyes as they went home, the brown-haired boy yawned.
Seokjin's right hand was already full with their groceries bags while his left hand kept Jungkook safe on his back. The little boy was sleeping soundly. "We're almost there, so stick it out," Taehyung nodded, trying his best to stay awake.
"I'm hungry," the boy talked again. Seokjin started to worry about his right hand because he couldn't feel his fingers at all, they started to go numb. He couldn't shift his fingers or change hands, as Jungkook might wake up.
"We'll be home in a minute, so-"
"Okay," Taehyung's small hand never let go the hem of his shirt, " Okay, dad. "
Seokjin stopped walking when the simple word slipped past the boy. Taehyung tilted his head in confusion before realizing what he just said, the boy's face turning crimson.
"I-I mean-" he stuttered. Seokjin found mixed feelings in his face, maybe fear? Guilty? Or embarrassment?
Taehyung was the type of kid who had cheerful nature but who actually hides a lot of feelings behind his boxy grin. It's rare for him to be comfortable with a stranger, but it's different with Seokjin. The little boy found it amusing to be with the older hybrid.
A soft smile from Seokjin made Taehyung go completely silent. "Better decide on what food you want before we arrive at our home, kiddo."
To be loved was something, maybe Taehyung really found a new family that would treasure him and not abandon him.
The tiger boy beamed with happiness, "I want fried squid!" his tail wagged side to side while his ears kept twitching.
"You better help me later," Seokjin added with a teasing tone.
