章 35: Gubby's safe haven
Gubby, how old are you? she asked drying her tears.
" Am...am seven years old."
" No, no..no... Gubby, can you bring me Nigel?"
" I can't... am really hungry."
Samantha was lost for words or things to do.
Trying to look for things to make Acer's formula with, she had ended up breaking things in the kitchen and in the end failed to find anything.
"Can you help me hold the baby so that I can make food for both of you?"
" Am blind, so..."
At Gubby's touch Acer calmed down a little before he started crying again.
" I know that you are blind... Thanos told me."
" Yes, so I'll need your help ok?"
" Hmmmm.."
" Do you know how to read?"
" Yes..."
" Do you see anything written formula on it?"
" Yes..There is a bottle beside it with milk in it on the sink.
" Give me the bottle... hurry!"
The milk Nigel had previously made to give to Acer was almost cold but Samantha took it and feed it to Acer who was tired from crying to protest.
She lost any zeal to cook for Gubby as she sat on the floor with Acer in her arms.
" You can check and see if there is anything you like from the pantry or the fridge.
Gubby found a packet of crackers, biscuits and fruit juice from the fridge. He sat in the corner and eat as quietly as he could.
He was very timid, he reminded Samantha of Dustin,the second personality she had met.
"Gubby, where is Nigel?"
" I don't know."
" Why are you here then?"
" Because of them?they brought me here to get money from my mummy and daddy."
" Who are them Gubby?"
" The bad men...They said is i make noise, they will kill my mummy and sister."
When Acer slept, Samantha stood up from the floor.
"Do you want to go with me or are you staying here?"
" No Library..."
" You are going to the Library?"
" No, we have to hide in their before they find us."
Gubby's safe heaven in Nigel's house was the Library. Nigel would always leave things the way Gubby would like it and never changed anything. From all his personalities, Gubby was the one he cared for the most because everything started with him.
" I'll be in the bedroom if you need me."
" I'll go with you."
