To say I was shocked is an understatement when I walked out of the house.
As I walked out, I saw a person wearing red leaning against a tree, asleep.
I decided to approach the sleeping figure and when I got close enough I realized who the person was.
"Old man?" I said in shock.
The old man slowly woke up and looked at me.
And he smiled.
"It's nice to see that you have succeeded in breaking my curse. A life without death is something I wish upon nobody." He said, the smile still on his face.
"But I saw you die!" I shouted, thinking back to the emergence of Skeletron.
The old man's smile visibly dimmed.
"Dying is something I have not experienced in years, and last night is not an exception. I may have been left as a mutilated corpse, but it is something I will recover from. Time is the only way to kill me, sadly." He said in a solemn voice.
I thought about his words for a moment before speaking again.
"So you're telling me that you are technically immortal, yet also not?"
The old man simply nodded in affirmation.
"That must suck."
He nodded again, this time speaking.
"As I said before, it is a fate that I wish upon nobody."
I was the one to nod this time.
"So how did you end up here?" I asked.
"I do not know. The last thing I remember is the conversation between you and my master. I was gone before I could feel or hear anything else." He answered.
"Thank the Gods that you were." I said.
"I agree, as I have had the displeasure of experiencing what the summoning felt like. Once was enough for me, as I still feel that pain today." He said sadly.
"well enough of the saddening things, care to introduce yourself fully now?" I said, interested in the former identity of the old man.
The old man's smile came back with a vengeance.
"Very well then." He spoke with a rather dignified tone, something I had not expected.
"My name is alfred, and I have had the pleasure of following the path of a clothier in my life, and that path still continues to this day." He said.
I looked at him for a moment and laughed.
"You don't have to be so formal around here Alfred. We only have one king here, and he is quite a humble person." I said.
'Though that's probably because he has no kingdom to be proud of anymore.' I continued in my mind.
{Wow. No need to mentally injure a person's pride like that, you know.} The Gods said.
'I am simply stating a fact that we have all accepted by now.' I said mentally.
{Just because it is true does not mean you should think about such a topic.} The Gods pointed out.
I thought about their words for a moment before realizing the insensitivity of my statement.
'You're right.'
"I see that you are talking with the Gods right now." I heard Alfred say, shaping me out of my conversation induced ignorance.
"Damnit I really have to fix this habit." I said, annoyed at my habit of ignoring the world while talking with the Gods.
"Everyone has their quirks, yours is simply your ignorance of things." Alfred said helpfully, most likely in an attempt to cheer me up.
"You know, calling me ignorant is really not making me feel any better right now." I complained.
"Ignorance is not something to be ashamed about, but being willfully ignorant is. As long as you try to solve that problem, you will be able to improve." He added, fixing his earlier statement.
"Now that actually makes me feel better." I said.
I paused for a moment and asked a question to Alfred.
"What kind of clothes do you make?"
Alfred looked at me in interest.
"All of them. Why do you ask?" He asked curiously.
"Well... My wardrobe consists of mostly sets of armor and 1 set of actual clothes at the moment."
Alfred looked at me in shock.
"How are you able to live with only one set of clothes?" He asked.
"Cautiously." I answered.
"Why do you only have one set? That's preposterous!" He asked, genuinely shocked at the state of my wardrobe.
"Well if someone didn't kidnap me, I would probably have more." I said accusingly, my accusations having been pointedly ignored by the 'person' in question.
~You should know that those idiots aren't known for planning anything.~
"When the hell did you get here?!" I yelled in shock, confusing Alfred since he couldn't hear Uni.
~I never left in the first place. I'm also here to fill in some empty space since the idiots are currently sulking in a corner from your jab.~
{We are n-!} The Gods were cut off before they were able to finish what they were going to say.
~Go back to the corner. Anyways, I also came here to say your next challenge is coming up.~
"Fuck." I said.
~I'll just give you a single hint as to what you should expect, but you may not like the implications.~
"And why is that? I don't think things could get much worse."
And that was when Uni decided to say a single word that made me regret saying that things couldn't get worse.
~Akira.~
My eyes opened wide in shock, for the second time today.
"Oh dear god no. Anything but Akira. Anything."
~It may not be the same as what happened to Tetsuo in the movie, but it is most likely worse. Far worse.~
"Can you please stop trying to give me depression? I want to expect to live to old age, not die so soon."
~I am simply here to bring a message. Do not blame me for what you will soon witness in the future.~
"Well I need something as an outlet, and you are not making me feel any less stressed." I said.
~Then go fishing. It is quite a relaxing pastime.~ Uni said, giving some actual advice.
"That's a good idea. I'll do that later."
~I have delivered my message, and I will leave you be for now.~
"Alright."
I looked at Alfred, who simply looked back at me.
"What just happened?" Alfred questioned.
I simply looked back at him and said two words.
"Nothing good."
Yeah... as I was writing this, I kinda drew a blank and started making the WoF much worse for me to imagine. I do and don't regret making my imagination connect the Wall and Akira.
I hope you enjoyed today's chapter!
Fun fact! I have never watched the movie but some scenes have scarred me as a child enough for me to remember them to this day, which is the only reason I remember that the movie even exists.
