章 58: Chapter 58

It was only a moment later that the two wolfmen take their time, standing right behind him, as if waiting for the cub. Not really giving him the chance to decide to ask and have their assistance. Both talking with each other, catching up, or at least appearing to, without letting him get a word in towards them. Their conversation seems to push him out of their mind, every exchange pressing him right out, acting as if they were plows, pushing snow to the side of the road.

He waits there, moving his head back towards the door, and then to the pair of Blaine and Tench, neither seeming to have any concerns as to him attempting to enter. He does, however, start to realize that they were willing to wait. Especially when he sees an apple being held by Tench, that was definitely not there before. The dark furred wolf man daintily nipping at it was disturbing, to say the least. Just barely carving off each piece and moves to chewing, his mouth barely opens, teeth grazing easily cutting a slice with how sharp they are, even as he hears words being spoken in his mind.

Tench was a lot more vocal while Blaine seemed to be more expressive, seeing the brown furred wolf move with a bit of action, happily acting out previous hunts and other antics. Sometimes taking a moment to form from dirt statues, while not very detailed, were obviously opponents, or prey, and one was himself.

He stares for a moment, thinking to himself, realizing that they might have been expecting him to either change, or use another method to open the door. His mind runs through what he knows, there is the basic, where he could shift his form, or use ice. While changing to a different form might have been easier, he didn't really have an idea where to start. The first few thoughts are to just try a different method, forming ice around the handle, and then trying to delicately turn. That was a failure before long, the ice was amazingly smooth, and that didn't have enough traction, spinning endlessly with the attempt.

A couple of chuckles from the peanut gallery reminds him of the pair that is right behind him. Turning to glare at the pair, who are watching him with amusement. "Would work better with dirt if your going to try it that way. But don't think that your going to be able to 'mingle' when your on other worlds if you learn to do it that way." Blaine says with Tench bobbing his head in agreement, the motion looking sort of like a cobra's head getting ready to bite.

It was a moment more for him to stare and huff, thinking about how to shift forms, it seemed like a trigger had been pulled with just the strongest intention, it wasn't a pleasant sensation. Feeling like his bones had turned to liquid and his whole body was being poured into a mold. His body stretches, it wasn't a painful sensation, more of a numbness towards it, though there is a sort of pins and needles as the nerves reconnect. The sensation felt like it was drawn out for a few minutes, but if he had timed it, would have been less than a minute. Not one of those quick shifts that are popular in movies and books.

He took a breath, slowly adjusting as the pins and needles faded, staring at the doorknob, taking in shallow breaths. A hand rests on his shoulders on both sides, a show of support, "Deep breathes now, don't want you to pass out due to hyperventilating." Blaine says just patting on his left shoulder. The cub adjusts his breath, taking in one deep breath, sucking in air for as long as possible, then, slowly exhaling. With that, it seemed to press out the final bit of lingering awkwardness and pain in his mind, letting him focus more on the changes.

The first thing that was noticeable, while he now had fingers, they were all the wrong lengths, his middle being the smallest, while his pinky was sized at least twice the length. As he thought about how wrong his hands looked, they slowly shifted, it felt for the time of the change like his fingers had locked up, not even able to shift an inch.

It wasn't painful, but it was like his limb had gone to sleep without any notice. It took until his hand looked a bit more natural, fingers at a length that compared to a human hand would look right, the real difference between a human and his were his nails, they were an inch longer and slightly curled over the top.

Blaine had been on his left looking down, chuckling a little, "Takes a while for a smooth transition. I had a leg that was half the length the other for my first time. And yes, this is the first time, even though grandfather, along with our inner worlds, allow a more humanoid form."

The cub nods his head, "First time actively attempting might be a better way to put it." He says taking in more of his body. Tentatively standing, both Blaine and Tench actively supporting him, unsure if there wasn't any other possible ways that he had messed up yet. There was a few times with sharp pain while moving, that suddenly caused him to lock up. Luckily his brother's were there, quick to catch him, not letting him fall flat on his face.

Each time that he seemed to need to make a correction, it seemed like there was a lock up. The strangeness of the action made him check over his body a bit with his hands. Playing his fingers through his fur, he realized how soft it was, almost like a down pillow. His arms are a little more pliant, allowing him to almost touch his neck with the palm of that hand on the same side. It also let him explore the slightly more pronounced spine, his chest had a natural curve to it, just enough to look like he was perpetually leaning forward now.

His hands stray between his legs, not too long, just enough to appreciate the fact that he is still male, even if the anatomy had changed. His hands fall over his legs, it isn't easy, stroking over his thighs and moves down to his lower, finding that his calf were a bit lengthened, it feels like he is trying to stand on his toes. He stands, taking his moment to let himself gain his feet. Both wolf men stand back, letting him take and adjust himself, "Think I can finally stand without falling." He says standing and taking a few steps.

His hands move to wrap around the door handle and squints a little, noticing how the familiar door frame now rests barely an inch over his ears as he steps into the house. Taking a moment of realization to see while there are some changes, most things seem to be as they were previously in his old home. The man that he thinks of his new father was standing in front of the stove, preparing something in a skillet. His head bobs, "Make yourself a seat, they really don't make anything in this world that can seat us." His hands take care to stir the food that is placed in the skillet.

Blaine and Tench are soon climbing in and nodding towards him, a solid stool of stone with a cut that would let his tail go in between, appearing underneath Blaine. Tench has a solid seeming darkness, the type that would have been like staring into a black hole. For a moment, while breathing in, taking in the scent of the meat sizzling, causing his stomach to gurgle, a little scent of vegetables and fruit that were not familiar, but mixing with a somewhat sweet scent.

The cub shakes his head, putting his mind to the task that needed to be sorted first, he is quick to see about trying, like Blaine, if he could make a chair of dirt. The next few moments made clear, he wouldn't be able to finish it quickly. He moves onto a more familiar option and forms a similar stool as his brother's out of ice, taking a tentative seat, he finds out that the ice, while a little chilly, didn't have the coldness that he usually associated with it.

His brothers and him were quiet as they watched the oldest wolfman finish preparing the meal, dishing up the meal into bowls, with a spoon for each. Instead of forming like them, he seems to pull one out and plops it on the ground, a cushion resting on top of a carved stump, that seemed to detail different animals and people. "Dig in, we'll talk when were done." The order seemed forceful, making them quickly start eat, not even questioning what was before them.
