章 8: Damsel in Distress II
*Boom!*
A small explosion came from the place where the two of them had been. Selina turned her body towards the drunken man she had managed to tackle before. The man had now stood up and walked slowly towards Selina and the little girl. Cold sweat ran down Selina's forehead.
'If only this girl hadn't hinted at me about the danger, I would have suffered a serious burn now,' thought Selina with a pale face.
"Enough of playing around, brats. Now is the time for you to accept your punishment," said the drunken man menacingly.
"Anávo!" The man cast a spell.
In his hand appeared flames as big as a basketball. He then threw the fireball towards Selina and the little girl.
"Shit!" Selina cursed then for the second time hugged the little girl's body and threw both of their bodies to the side to avoid the fireball.
"That's the way... You should know not to play with adults," said the man with a sarcastic tone while eerily smiling.
'Damn! What should I do? I can't keep avoiding the fireballs, right? Is there anything else I can do?' Selina thought hard about what she had to do.
Selina's forehead was wet because of the sweat. She frowned, thinking about what solution is best to deal with this drunken man. Before she could find a solution, the drunken man threw another fireball at them. When Selina throws her and the little girl's bodies for the third time to avoid the fireball, the hat she wears falls down and leaves her hair loose.
"Hoho... Turns out you're a cute little girl. I will not hurt you as long as you obediently follow me. How?" Asked the drunken man. His eyes ran through Selina's appearance from top to bottom.
Feeling the drunken man's gaze on her, Selina shuddered. She felt uncomfortable and disgusted at the drunken man's sordid gaze.
'Pedophile...' Selina thought.
Selina's heart pounded while her body trembled violently. Selina's instincts continued to send danger signals to her mind and made her body tremble even more violently.
'Looks like I'm not dealing with ordinary drunker...'
"Hey, kid! I asked how?!" The drunken man shouted, in his hand the fireball re-formed, ready to be thrown.
Selina realized she couldn't keep avoiding the fireball that the man would keep throwing. With her modified ignitorem being thrown somewhere else when Selina tried to avoid the first fireball, Selina didn't have any weapons for self-defense anymore. So she decided it was time to call for reinforcement. Because previously the little girl was still under the captivity of the three kidnappers, Selina could not immediately ask for help. According to her experience in her previous life, the kidnappers will lower their guard around a kid than an adult.
Because Selina knows the fact about the illusion mist which is not working anymore, she then opened her mouth and shouted out loud. Like really, really loud so people around can hear her.
"HELP! THESE PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO KIDNAP US!"
When people heard Selina's shout of help, they began to gather to see where the shout was coming from.
"Look there are two children there. Looks like one of them is the one shouting for help," said an old woman who holds groceries.
"Yes. They even tied up a child, we need to help them."
"Back off! I said BACK OFF!" The drunken man shouted in annoyance.
The drunken man then takes a position and throws a fireball in his hand at the people who come to help Selina and the little girl.
"Aaaah!!!" People screamed while trying to avoid the fireball the drunken man was throwing.
When the drunken man is busy with threatening people not to come closer, Selina's hands tried to open the mouth cover and the ties on the little girl's hands and feet.
"Are you alright?" Selina asked the little girl.
After Selina managed to untie the cloth that clogged the little girl's mouth, the little girl answered Selina's question in a low voice.
"I'm alright, thank you."
"Are you hurt?" Selina asked again.
"No. I'm fine," answered the little girl.
The little girl watched Selina then she asked Selina in a worried tone, "What about you?"
"I am okay, too."
Selina gave a big smile which the little girl also smiled back at. But a moment later the little girl's eyes widened to see what was behind Selina.
"Watch out!" She shouted at Selina.
Her shout made Selina look back. Selina saw the drunken man coming and one of his hands pulled Selina's hand. Now Selina's position is to become the hostage of the drunken man.
"Back off or I will hurt this child!" The drunken man threatened.
"Ugh!" Selina had difficulty breathing because the drunken man gripped her collar.
"Release the child!"
'I never thought I'd be a hostage here,' thought Selina, who was lamenting her fate.
When things turned more precarious, suddenly the drunk man's right arm which holds on Selina's collar caught on fire.
"Aarrgh?!" The drunk man was shocked and screamed in pain.
The drunken man loosening his grip on Selina's collar so Selina took that chance to escape. Selina then ran towards the little girl and pulled her hand. They both ran towards the people who came to save them.
The fire which burned the drunken man's right hand suddenly extinguished by itself and the man become careless. He was later paralyzed by a man in his twenties.
"Gilaví!"
The hand-shaped earth catches and grasps the man so he can't move.
"Are you all right?" Asked a middle-aged woman.
"We're all right," Selina answered.
The crowd of people who came to help later found two other drunken men who had been paralyzed by Selina earlier.
"Bring them to Union Guild, Blue Lyre can take care of these scums," said one of the citizens who gathered to help.
"Yes! Bring them to Union Guild. Let the knights from Blue Lyre take care of them," said another citizen.
"How about you two? Where are your parents? I can take you to your parents if you want," asked a middle-aged woman who had asked about their condition earlier.
Selina looked at the little girl. The little girl also looked at Selina then shook her head.
Selina turned toward the middle-aged woman and said, "Thank you for the help, but we can go alone."
"Are you sure?"
Selina and the little girl nodded their heads.
"Alright then."
Afterward, the three drunk people were then bound and taken to the Lobby of Union Guild. After the people left, only Selina, the kidnapped girl, and some merchants who want to return to their merchandise who are still in that alley.
