章 36: Outside
"Do you think it was necessary?" I hear coming from Talia in a quiet voice to my side. In her voice I hear a solemn sadness in it, as if she knows something I haven't realized yet.
Pausing for a moment I think about her question, confused a little bit by what I thought I heard in her tone. Brushing it to the side I respond to her question, "Probably not... But, I don't think I would have been able to move forward if I didn't. I had to much anger in me to not try and get some justice for me and those who died." A depressing atmosphere surrounds me as I continue to walk forward. Silence reigns as neither of us know what to say.
Putting her hand on my shoulder, I look over at her. In her eyes I see worry, worry about me and whether I'll be okay or not. There's something deeper there though, but I can't quite grasp it. Suddenly she pulls me in her embrace which confuses me. "Don't worry Tess, you'll feel better eventually," as Talia says that to me I realize my eyes are wet. Touching my eyes I realize there are tears in my eyes. When I come to that realization I can't hold It in anymore. The barrier keeping my emotions from flowing breaks like a dam.
Falling on my knees, I cry my eyes out as Talia just holds me. I feel her gentle hand rubbing my back as the other holds me close to her. I continue to cry as she just silently holds me, making me feel safe. Eventually, I've let out everything such that I can't cry anymore. "Thank you," I whisper quietly to Talia as I look her in the eyes. Those gold and green eyes staring back at me.
"I'm just helping a friend," she says smiling at me, as if it was only the natural thing to do.
'There's something about healers, they always know what to say,' I think to myself, remembering the healers I've had in my parties in games I used to play on earth. Pushing those thoughts to then side, as they we pointless to think about now that I`m in a new world, I continue to hold onto Talia.
remembering that we are escaping from the lab, I gather myself together so we can continue to move. Starring at Talia again I smile for a moment, before I nod my head at her and stand up. Sighing to myself I say, "I guess we should start heading out again. We probably don't have much time to be able to get away from here, so we need to move as fast as possible."
"Don't try to push yourself to hard okay? I want your mind to be safe as well, so don't do something you can't," Talia slightly scolds me so I don't overwork myself, which makes me happy.
With a smile on my face as I look at her, I respond saying, "Thanks Talia, I'll make sure to remember that, I won't push myself to hard." Seeing her comforted nod, I grasp her hand as we continue to walk our way through the passage in silence. strangely enough though, it didn't feel awkward just peaceful.
Not too long after we finished our conversation, we see light at the end of the passage. Looking to my side I smile at Talia, knowing that we will finally be free. Still remaining careful I search the area for traps and when I find none we walk outside together.
walking outside I revel in the feeling of the sun and wind against my body. I'm quickly reminded of my new body parts like my tail and cat ears as the wind passes over them. 'Thank the Gods that my clothing comes with an auto fitting function. Thankfully, the armor can only be taken off by me, so they couldn't take it.'
looking over at Talia I see a smile on her face as well as some tears in her eyes. "I'm finally free, I actually escaped," Talia whispers lightly, but I'm still able to hear what she says. "Thank you for helping me escape Tess, if I didn't meet you I'd still be alone and trapped. Now though I'm free," she says this to me as she again pulls me into a hug, holding me as tight as possible.
"I'm grateful that I met you as well, if I didn't I'd have probably lost my sanity from the isolation. Having you there made everything much easier to go through," I say as we hold each other. "We should head out so we don't get caught again, you coming with me?"
"Ya, let's go," Talia says as she smiles at me.
