章 24: Escape his madness
Running away was meaningless. All Reese could do was to listen to everything, since she wishes to hear the truth that only Kier could reveal.
Hearing something outrageous, it felt like Reese's been kept from secrets for too long.
"It's good that you calmed down a bit, Reese." Wika ni Kier sa kanya.
"Mukha pa rin ba akong kalmado sa ganitong sitwasyon? I think not." Bakas ang sarkasmo sa boses ni Reese at seryosong tinignan si Kier.
"It's great that you were able to find out the truth. It may be too late, but at least you still have things figured out."
"Let's not beat around the bush, Kier. What do you mean with that thing you said earlier? Me, being a clan leader's heiress?" Seryosong tanong ni Reese sa binata.
Kier gave out a sigh and he took out another book linked to the book she saw at the library back then.
"This is where all the prophecies were written. The book predicted that your real mother will die giving birth to you, an immortal."
Reese lowered her head.
"I know that my real mother died giving birth to me, grandfather told me. But, I did not know prophecies were still a thing." Reese said with a faint voice.
"But did you know that your mother was a mortal? Your father, who's a full-blooded vampire, married a mortal." Dagdag ni Kier.
Reese paused hearing those from Kier's mouth. Her mother was a human, she's not a full-blooded vampire.
"Then if I still have the blood of a human, I can still be the same as how I lived before, right? I can still go back and fix everything." Reese sounded really desperate.
"Young lady, you can't…"
Reese looked at the butler, she can see this pitiful eyes that Reese doesn't want to see. Reese doesn't need pity, she needs explanation.
"Why? Why can I not go back? Where will I go back to?" Reese asked them.
"You can't leave your people waiting, Reese. The Reklavion clan needs a leader, Reese." Mahinang wika ni Kier.
Reese laughed, she laughed with the way Kier begged her with something she won't do.
"I'm sorry, but I'm not fit for that. My biological father's alive, right? He's the current leader, then let him be the leader." Wika ni Reese.
"We won't be begging you if we know where he is."
Reese froze to hear the thing Kier spilled.
"What do you mean? He's also dead? But, he's an immortal too." Hindi makapaniwala na wika ni Reese.
"Your biological father disappeared when your mother left the ancestral house, young lady." Sagot ng butler sa gilid ni Reese.
"But still, making me a leader won't do anything good. Just please, let me go back and face the problems I left." Reese asked them.
"You can't." Simpleng sagot ni Kier.
"Tell me why I can't. Give me another reason beside the fact that I'm a clan leader's daughter." Wika ni Reese.
"Ever since you were born in this world, your life was already in danger, Reese. It would be great if you would be protected by your own men." Sagot ni Kier.
Hindi maintindihan ni Reese ang sinasabi ng dalawa sa kanya. She knew the fact that she's a vampire, that she's an immortal, but she can't seem to pick everything up.
"What do you mean?" Reese asked, puzzled.
"Your father loved your mother very much. He then knew the prophecy that lies ahead of your mother and you. Your father doesn't want to lose your mother to the point he was willing to give you up."
Reese felt cold and numb with what Kier just said. Even when she was still an unborn child, they already disliked her.
Wala pa rin pinagbago, from her biological and non-biological family… they didn't want her to live.
Why was she alive in the first place?
"Why was I even alive then? Kung hindi pa pala ako pinanganak, ayaw na agad sa akin ng totoo kong magulang." Bitterness can be heard through Reese's voice.
"Your mother was against your father's idea. That's why she left your father and gave birth to you, that's when your grandfather entered the picture. Ang kinilala mo na lolo ang nagpaanak sa totoo mong nanay. Your mother asked your grandfather to take care of you and keep you." Dagdag ni Kier.
"Then why is my life in danger?" Reese asked, once again.
"Your mother's death left a deep wound on your father's heart. Your father's love was too much to the point that he loathes you. Your own father wanted you dead in exchange to your mother's death."
Reese felt a shiver on her back, the secret Kier revealed was something out of the line.
Hearing that her biological father wants her dead was something surprising.
"That was kind of surprising…" Mahinang wika ni Reese at hindi niya alam na umiiyak na pala siya. "Should I blame myself for being alive then?"
"The talisman you have was owned by your father." Biglaang wika ni Kier.
Tila natigilan si Reese sa sinabi ni Kier sa kanya.
Hindi niya inakala na totoong ama niya na pala ang nakita niya nung gabi na 'yon.
That man who tried to strangle her, who tried to kill her was her own father.
"Then my mother's name was Rachel. She was the woman in that book I have. Then the man beside him was my father…?" Mahinang tanong ni Reese kay Kier.
"Yes. Elenore Marquis is your father, Reese."
Reese frustratedly combed her hair and she looked at Kier with this dull expression.
"After hearing everything, I guess the people around me won't be safe anymore. Then what should I do?" Reese asked Kier.
"You have to continue what your father left and escape his madness, Rebecca."
