Yu Chen tried to force her mind to remember what had happened last night, but her head hurt too much.
Finally, she gave up and sat with her head in her hands. "It's no use. I don't remember anything! And I can probably guess what happened last night." Chen sighed to herself.
She deduced that she had gotten very wasted and had called Si Xia, the one thing she had been forcing herself not to do over the past few days.
"Anyway, I'll have to face the music now. I'll just apologize and leave. That's the best I can do. Oh god!! I don't even remember what I did last night!" Yu Chen muttered to herself.
Chen looked up when she heard the bedroom door open. She was very surprised to see Si Xia enter the room wearing casual tees and jeans, and holding a breakfast tray in his hands.
Yu Chen stared open mouthed as Xia set the tray on the bedside table and turned to her, "You're awake?" he asked.
Yu Chen nodded and climbed out of the bed.
But she was still a bit dizzy and her head hurt like crazy, she swooned as soon as she tried to stand up.
Si Xia caught her securely, wrapped his arms around Chen and asking in a worried voice, "What's wrong? Eat something. You need hangover medicine then. But first, eat."
Yu Chen said nothing as she wriggled out of Si Xia's embrace and held the bedframe to steady herself.
After she had taken a few deep breaths and was sure that she would not swoon again, Chen said, looking down, not meeting Xia's gaze, "I'm really sorry for whatever I did last night. I'll get out of your hair now."
Si Xia blinked and stared at Chen. What was she saying?
But before he had time to sort out his thoughts, Yu Chen started walking towards the door.
Si Xia caught her wrist and said, "What are you doing? Don't you remember anything from last night?"
Yu Chen pulled her hand out of Xia's and stood facing him, "I already apologised. I really don't remember what happened? My memory's a bit hazy. I'm sorry for troubling you. I'll make sure it won't ever happen again."
Among all this, the fact that Yu Chen had not once looked at his face did not escape Si Xia's notice.
He opened his mouth to say something when Yu Chen frowned. "Where's Hua?!?! She was more drunk than me!!! Where is she!?!?" Chen suddenly exclaimed. The next instant she held her head and groaned. Her own voice made it seem like her head would burst open any second.
Si Xia gently led her back to the bed and made her sit. "She's fine. Hua's fine. Zenghai took her." he muttered as he knelt down and peered in Chen's eyes. He could never get enough of those eyes.
Yu Chen's eyes locked onto his for a minute before she looked away. Disappointment flickered across Si Xia's face but he quickly masked it. He had brought this onto himself.
"Eat something and then take the medicine. You'll feel better." Si Xia said as he stood up and walked towards the breakfast tray.
"I'm sorry. I have to leave." Yu Chen's voice stopped Xia in his tracks before he had taken three steps.
