It had been a week since Yu Chen had left for her parents' home.
Si Xia sat in his office staring at his mobile. "She said she would call me whenever she wanted to come back. I don't want to force her...but.." He sighed, "It's been so long since I met her."
Si Xia played with the pen in his hand as he stroked the two oil paintings sitting on his desk with the other hand.
"Oh to hell with this!!" Xia thought as he threw the pen away and picked up his phone.
He typed, 'Hey, what are you doing?'
Yu Chen immediately replied, 'Just got up. Brushing my teeth.'
Si Xia looked at his wristwatch, it was 11:00 a.m. 'You got up just now?'
Yu Chen: 'Yup. Something the matter?'
Si Xia thought for a long time before saying, 'I miss you.'
Yu Chen's reply did not come for about two minutes. Just as Si Xia was beginning to wonder if he had said something wrong, if he was being too clingy, his phone buzzed.
Si Xia opened his phone and his eyes lighted up. Yu Chen had sent him a selfie along with the words, 'Don't miss me too much. I'll call you after breakfast.'
Si Xia replied with a 'hmm' before focusing his attention back on the selfie.
In the photo, Yu Chen was wearing one of her signature oversized sweaters. It was red with white snowflakes. The sweater was so big that it was slipping off one of her shoulders, showing her collarbone and shoulder.
Si Xia's eyes trailed up to her mouth, a toothbrush was dangling from it, and her messy hair. Si Xia's mouth curved into a loving smile as he noticed that despite the disheveled hair, Yu Chen was still wearing the two butterfly clips.
As he saved the picture in the 'Chi-chi' folder, Si Xia mumbled, "Damn! Now I'm even more distracted than I was before I texted her."
Yu Chen quickly gobbled up her breakfast and headed out, shouting behind her back, "Mom, I'm going for a walk."
"You're 23. Act more like it." Her mother's voice came from the kitchen as Chen giggled and thought that her mother would have found the newest prank she had pulled.
Yu Chen had become a prankster during her stay in London. She and Hannah, her best friend, were partners in crime of most of the pranks that happened in their college.
Yu Chen skipped out of the small garden and along the road. She admired the natural beauty as she walked along her village, towards the main road.
After reaching the bus stop, Yu Chen whipped out her phone and called her favourite number.
As the call connected, she said, "Muuuaaahhh. Did you miss me?"
There was no way that Yu Chen could have known that Si Xia was in fact in a meeting and he had picked up the phone on front of all his executives. Hearing such a cheesy greeting, his lips curved into a smile as he said, "You bet I did."
Yu Chen laughed as she sat on a bench and began swinging her legs. After chit-chatting for some time, she asked, "So, aren't you in the office today?"
