章 46: Celebration
Mo Kio's face brightened up at the sight of the caller ID and he picked up his phone. He answered the call saying, "Major General Mo reporting sir. I have successfully completed the mission sir." and did a mock salute. From the other side, Yu Chen laughed and said, "A very good work, Major General Mo. Report about the casualties."
Mo Kio scrunched up his nose and said, "Nothing very serious, just my innocence." Yu Chen, on hearing this, laughed continuously for five minutes. Then she said, with tears in her eyes, "So all went well?" "Yup." Mo Kio's happy voice came from the other end.
Then Yu Chen came to the topic for which she had called. "So how are your injuries?" Mo Kio was a little taken aback, he muttered, "All right."
Yu Chen said in her soothing voice, "Don't worry about Xia. I explained everything to him. Come by my apartment tomorrow and we will see the evidence." Mo Kio hummed and then cut the call.
When he finally came up to his room after his mother had fussed over him like he had broken a bone or two, and had fed him so much that Mo Kio felt that he was going to throw up, he fell on his bed face down. He was so tired that he instantly went to sleep.
But halfway through the night, Mo Kio woke up. He was drenched in sweat and panting. It had been a while since he had had that dream. He got up and went to the balcony, knowing full well that he would not be able to sleep anymore.
The next morning, Xi Hua, Huo Zenghai, Mo Kio and Si Xia had gathered at Yu Chen's apartment. They had all brought with them some snacks as they were celebrating the downfall of Yuan Zuan. Before anything else, Yu Chen made Mo Kio and Si Xia apologize to each other and become friends. They shook hands as a token of their friendship, bit were forced to hug by Yu Chen, who rolled on the floor laughing with Hua and Zenghai at the sight of their faces after hugging.
Before they could break apart, Huo Zenghai shouted, "Group hug!!!" and jumped on them, followed by Xi Hua and Yu Chen. They all listened to the recording made by Mo Kio, who had been wearing a small recorder when he went to meet Yuan Zuan. They all ate and laughed for around one hour, after which Yu Chen persuaded everyone to call Yuan Zuan and give her a final chance. Everyone gave in except Xi Hua, who was being forced by Yu Chen to agree when Mo Kio went out for some fresh air. He was standing there, enjoying the light wind on his face, when a voice came from behind. "Thank you for everything you did for our team."
Mo Kio turned to see Huo Zenghai standing there. Mo Kio shook his head and said, "It was nothing much."
Huo Zenghai came to stand beside him. "Well you know what, Chen once said to us that you looked like a normal high school boy, but I can tell that you do have a story."
Mo Kio smiled. Huo Zenghai continued, "Will we ever have the fortune of coming to know it?"
"When the time comes...." Mo Kio said, looking at the sky.
