章 13: An unexpected invitation
Si Xia was worried sick. "This is so unlike Chi Chi, I wonder if something is wrong, maybe she is sick, I will go and check."
Thinking this, he waited for a while more and then got up to go to the place that Chen was renting. But as he was halfway, he received a message.
Yuan Zuan: 'Hey, I need to talk to you. Can we meet?'
Si Xia had never liked Zuan, so he ignored the message. But then came another.
Yuan Zuan: 'It's urgent, really. Can we meet? Please??'
"Now it sounds bad. I wonder if something is up?" thought Si Xia. But Yu Chen came first.
Thinking this, he replied.
'Yeah sure. We can meet tomorrow.'
Yuan Zuan: 'Not tomorrow. We need to meet today.!!!' was the reply that came.
'Sorry. No can do.' messaged Si Xia. Then he slipped his phone in his pocket and started walking. But then another message came. "That Yuan Zuan. What does she want??" Si Xia thought angrily and took out his phone. The message said only one sentence but it was enough to completely change his attitude.
Yuan Zuan: 'It is about Chen.'
'What Chen? Did something happen to her.??' was Si Xia's anxious reply. All Zuan asked him to do was come to hee home.
Thinking that something must have happened to Chen, Si Xia quickly went to the Yuan's.
A guard came out and asked his name. When he gave his name, the guard said, "Ah Mr. Si. Young miss is expecting you." Then he called a maid who took Si Xia in.
"What pretentious people." thought Si Xia on his way inside. The maid let him into the living room where Yuan Zuan was waiting for him. Xia noticed that Zuan was dressed as if going going to a social event. Wearing an evening gown and lots of make-up, her hair curled and a tiara pinned on her head. He rolled his eyes but did not comment on it. Instead he said,
"What happened to Chen?"
Yuan Zuan: "Why are you always worried only about her?"
Si Xia: "I'm not obliged to answer you. Just tell me. You said something was wrong with Chen?"
Yuan Zuan: "I never said that. I just said it was about Chen."
Si Xia: "Yeah. What about her?"
Yuan Zuan: "Well, nothing really. I just needed you to come to my house."
Si Xia: "Yes I did. And now if you're going to keep spouting nonsense, I'm gonna leave."
Yuan Zuan: "....."
"You will not talk to my daughter like that!!" thundered someone from the next room.
It was Mr. Yuan and he did not seem pleased with the way Xia was talking to Zuan. But Si Xia remained calm. " What does he think I am, some normal boy who will let him walk all over me?" he thought and said.
" Well no offense sir, but I would love it." he said.
Mr. Yuan: "???"
Si Xia: "Not talking to your daughter, sir. It was she who called me here. And Zuan," he said turning to Yuan Zuan, "if it's nothing important I will be going."
