章 39: Thank goodness for that

"Only if you change that attitude of yours, you know people hate you for being rude and arrogant. At this rate you'll run Camelot to the ground" Anberine said as she braced herself for his comeback.

Skye hearing this almost lashed out in anger except he stopped to think about her words.

'She has a point... stupid girl' Skye rubbed his temples weakly.

What is a truth is a lie?

What is a lie is a truth?

Which is the honest you?

Skye almost swallowed his bile thickly as the words from the lake echoed in his head once more, looking at her cautious look he sighed before unfolding his arms slightly.

"Fine" Skye relented to her shock before waving for her to bring out her study book.

'Um... what?!' Anberine almost gulped in shock but kept calm.

Taking out her potion book she began chapter one only unlike their teacher she added more information and answered his questions when he enquired about a few things.

Surprisingly Anberine slowly relaxed at how normal he was being.

"Please tell me that it is a phase" Anberine said before taking a break from helping him, she soon noticed that their ice cream had gone leaving her to wonder on how long they had been in the area.

Startled Anberine nearly jumped as she saw how dark it was outside, Skye on the other hand stretched causing his bones to click in protest.

Feeling the pops Skye groaned before getting up to pay for the food leaving Anberine perplexed.

"Ready?" Skye's voice alerted her that he was next to her, getting up she grabbed her bag only to tilt her head as he grabbed it and slung a strap on his right shoulder while his left hand held the basket.

"Might as well" Skye said sounding reluctant to even help before she could ask.

Silent but thankful for the help she followed him back to the castle, spotting the fountain containing the fairy Anberine smiled faintly at how well made the statue was.

Even with all that water it still remained undamaged and never showed signs of worn or decay.

Skye as he eyed her staring at the fountain kept to himself even as they arrived at the floor leading to her dorm room.

"Thanks" Skye muttered lowly before handing Anberine her bag, without saying a word he walked away briskly to his dorm room leaving Anberine completely confused.

A yawn soon interrupted her train of thoughts reminding her that it was night time, rubbing her eyes she went to her room and locked it so she would not be disturbed.

Spying her wardrobe she grabbed a plain white nighty and changed before getting ready for sleep.

Skye meanwhile as he walked briskly to his room felt his face burning, even his ears were victim to the constant unwanted burning sensations leaving him wanting nothing more than to hide or place his head in an ice cold bucket.

'What is going on with me? What even is going on?' Skye's mind buzzed frantically as he slammed his dorm room door behind him.

His mouth to his concern started to stretch into a smile leaving him more disturbed at how it could end up like that.

"... did I actually enjoy going out with her? No I couldn't have! She's-" grumbling Skye grabbed his bowl from the bathroom and filled it with cold water.

Splashing his face numerous times till it was numb he grumbled a bit more weakly, memories of her helping him filled his mind leaving the prince with unwanted feelings.

"Helpful" was all Skye said before sighing heavily, looking at the sky the prince was left baffled and concerned.

This was just bizarre, did he pass out and end up with her at the lake? Or worse- did she try to drown him?

"No way" Skye shook his head sharply, quickly denying the notion "she's not that type of person"

'And yet...' Pursing the corner of his left lip Skye placed a hand to his tired face.

"Tomorrow, I'll get answers out of her tomorrow" Skye vowed before getting ready for sleep.

~

Anberine as soon as she opened her door the next day peeked out to see if Skye was in the area, seeing that he wasn't she sighed heavily in relief before grabbing her bag.

'Thank goodness for that' Anberine muttered.

'It was annoying that he would do that' Anberine clenched her bag strap tightly as her nerves started to bundle up at the thought of him popping up out of nowhere.

'I don't miss him popping up, I don't! Why would I when it always leaves me uncomfortable' Anberine steeled her thoughts before making it towards Potions class.

Once there she sat at her seat beside Merlia, Merlia seeing that Anberine was alone was left the Dark Dweller confused before brushing her thoughts away.

"How are you?" Merlia said softly as she pushed away Anberine's fringe to see a light mark, her eyes dimmed at how she was unable to prevent the incident from happening.

"Bit tired but okay, so what happened when I was out?" Anberine asked as she took out her study and notebook.

"Well-" Merlia paused as she saw Skye appear beside Anberine and took the seat that was empty leaving the girls now shocked.

Saying nothing the prince nodded at them briefly before taking out his notebook shocking the girls even more.

"Excuse me you're in my seat" Marcus said just before the girls could speak.

Looking up Skye raised a brow.

"And I'm sure I would like to give it back but I'm afraid I have extra studies to attend to, surely the desk behind me is sufficient enough?" Skye challenged Marcus who glared angrily at how rude Skye was being.

"You-!" Anberine cleared her throat causing them to look at her.

Resting on her folded arms Anberine gave Skye a look which left him feeling upset at how quickly she would go against him.

Surely she knew he needed help.

"But-"
