His two eyes which was now twice David's size were completely purplish and they dilated 

"But sadly it is time to end this." The Dragon King finished his words and a puff of smoke escaped his nostrils upon his last words.

David had seen too many movies and read too many novels to know what a puff of smoke in the mouth of a dragon signified.
