Red Mountain Academy.
Xiu Ye's forehead met the wooden table beneath in front of him, muttering.
"I. Hate. School."
It was the next day after Xiu Ye had successfully forged his first ever weapon and metal, one that is thousand refined as well by him, which also made Mang Tian fainted on the spot from disbelief till he woke up this morning. The former had hung up his first ever forged weapon atop his front door.
He was also in disbelief that he had been able to do a thousand refinements, despite no knowledge or experience of pounding metal! He had just acted on instincts and hammer out the impurities out of the metal to reshape it. If Mang Tian heard what his foster son had just acted on his instincts in forging, he would have vomited out blood from indignation.
But, although Xiu Ye is such a monstrous genius in blacksmithing that can make him vomit out blood, Mang Tian would still taught his adopted son everything he could with his knowledge because he had sworn: if the former would still have interest in going down the path of a blacksmith, then he would take him in as his disciple!
Despite how much frustration and tears of indignation would cost him.
Also, Xiu Ye was still not well experienced and knowledgeable blacksmithing.
Before going to school, Mang Tian had explained to him the basics of blacksmithing.
"What is forging? Forging and casting are entirely different. Casting only requires a mold, and afterwards, the use of machinery to grind out the desired shape. That is casting. Well, you could cast metal yourself since you did make a goddamn dagger. As for forging, it requires a blacksmith to personally hammer the metal from start to finish. Of course, you could use a machine to pound the metal and forge it, but metal is a living thing. A machine will never be able to grasp the veins of the metal. Thus, all first-rate machine components were forged by a blacksmith. A good blacksmith is a true craftsman that possesses a status no less than that of a Soul Master."
Then time went to now, with Xiu Ye complaining about school already in the soul master classroom. Though the source of his complaints came from his sore body and spirit however.
He had both drained his entire soul power in his body and used spiritual power for the first time, without any proper guidance. So he reap what he sow, his body; specifically his arms, and head felt like a truck continuously rammed itself to them. Right now, more than half of his soul power has already filled up but his spiritual power, soul and arms would need a couple of days of rest to recover properly.
Aren't attending elementary and intermediate academies compulsory? Then, can't I just skip elementary academy and wait out till I'm at the proper age to attend either an intermediate or advance academy? Oh wait, I need a recommendation letter from the elementary school to enter the intermediate academy, which, unlike other kids, I need to attend school for an entire three years and graduate successfully. Xiu Ye grumbled inside his mind at the unfairness of the world.
Due to both stress on his injured spirit and body; headaches and several body aches, Xiu Ye's temper is at a high time right now. Any sudden great disturbance would ticked him off immediately.
Sadly, he was in a room filled with six year old kids.
This year's soul master class only had 16 students, Xiu Ye included, the number of children who had awakened soul power were simply too low. It was even more apparent in a small city like Glorybound City. This year's arrivals could actually be considered a lot.
"Hey, what's your martial soul?" A chubby boy who wasn't too tall asked, happening to be beside Xiu Ye and on the his other side was the familiar boy Tang Wulin.
They were all the same age, all brimming with curiosity and anticipation for the soul master class.
Xiu Ye didn't answer, pinching his temples, he was concentrated on managing his painful body aches and trying to not lash out on the child besides him, hoping that he'll just go away.
Thankfully he did. The chubby kid shrugged and turned to asked the other person besides him, Tang Wulin, the same question.
Suddenly, the teacher walked in the classroom.
"Hello everyone. I'm your homeroom teacher, Lin Ximeng. I'll be teaching you the basic knowledge required for soul masters over the next three years. How about you all introduce yourselves now? Tell us your name, martial soul and innate soul power rank."
There were only 16 students, so the introductions went by quickly. At Xiu Ye's turn...
"My name is Xiu Ye, martial soul is the Flowing Blade-like Flame. Soul power 11." As proof, he raise his right hand and summoned Ryūjin Jakka along with his spirit soul and yellow soul ring, shocking every student and the teacher into silence.
Xiu Ye quickly waved off his martial soul and, without waiting for his teacher and classmates to say anything, immediately rested his forehead on the table and crossed his arms on front of his head to act as a pillow and a guard. He already knew about what the teacher is about to explained and he just wanted to use that time to rest instead.
The students immediately went into crazed murmurs and whispers.
Lin Ximeng quickly regained her composure and silenced the students with a glare. The students obediently shut up. Smiling prettily, she said. "Today is your first day of class, so I'll be explaining the different classifications for martial souls first. In the afternoon, I'll teach you how to meditate. Meditation is the only way to temper and improve your soul power. If you want to become a true soul master, then you all must strive your hardest."
"As you all know, everyone in our world has a martial soul. One's martial soul awakens at the age of six, and it can be anything. If one also awakens soul power, then they can cultivate to become a Soul Master. Now a question for all of you, what classifications are there for martial souls?"
"First of all, the two main classes are tool souls and beast souls. Among them, all of the martial souls that appear on the body are beast souls. If they appear separately from the body, then they're tool souls. By cultivating your soul power, you're able to upgrade your martial soul. After your soul power reaches rank 10, then you're able to become a Soul Master like student Xiu over there sleeping." She pointed out, literally, at Xiu Ye. Shaking her head, she continued on her explanation.
"There are also two main classes of Soul Masters. The Battle Soul Masters and Utility Soul Masters. Those who cultivate with the goal of fighting are Battle Soul Masters. Regardless of what someone's martial soul is, they are still a Soul Master. There are also many minor classifications…" At that, Xiu Ye went into his dream world, made of fire and steel. Not noticing a certain protagonist glancing at him once in a while.
....
"...Remember, don't sleep in class again student Xiu!" Lin Ximeng strictly reprimanded the standing thinned lip Xiu Ye in front of her.
"Yes teacher!" He loudly said with a two finger salute.
The teacher let out a long resigned sigh and waved off Xiu Ye to get out to have his lunch, to which he happily nodded and skipped towards the cafeteria.
Xiu Ye's headache had slightly subsided for now, which was the cause of his change of mood, and he headed towards one of the empty tables of the cafeteria with a small lunch box on hand.
Earlier in the morning, Mang Tian wasn't awake yet to make both their breakfast and his lunch. So he decided that he would be the one to cook for them.
Xiu Ye doesn't understand why, but he was always good, like, really good in cooking and a slightly protective of a kitchen he decided was his. Thus earned the nickname God of Cooking from the other occupants in the orphanage.
Sitting down on a chair and putting down his lunch box on the empty table, completely devoid of other students, Xiu Ye slowly take a deep breath in at the relax atmosphere and was about to open his lunch...
'Xiu Ye.' The boy flinched in surprise at the sudden voice in his head, blinking his eyes, he slightly bit down his lower lips to prevent a groan to come out of his mouth. 'What is it old man? Can't you see I'm trying to eat here?'
Completely ignoring the snapping tone of Xiu Ye's voice, Ryūjin Jakka said.
'I haven't acknowledged you yet.'
'...Wut?' Xiu Ye's eyes turned into a pair of black dots.
Ryūjin Jakka snorted.
'You have not defeated me in battle, thus, you still haven't earn the right to be my master and know my name.'
'...Okay I can understand the first, but what the hell's with the last one? Isn't your name Ryūjin Jakka?' Xiu Ye quickly snapped out of his state and asked in confusion about the situation with his martial soul.
'You may know my name, but I haven't told you my name with my acknowledgement.'
'...' Xiu Ye's face blanked.
What?
'You'll understand one day.' Ryūjin Jakka sighed.
