章 229: Levian (I)

(Levian View)

Levian was watching Snow contemplate. His serpentine eyes glanced at her up and down, observing what she would do next. He enjoyed watching her expression as it did not appear as often as one would think. Usually, her cold expression was what she wore most of the day. It bothered him that every time the name Dairen came up, her expression would change.

He leaned back, folding his hand in front of him. Either way, Levian didn't care about Dairen at all. Honestly, he wished for him to disappear in existence so he wouldn't be bothered by such thoughts.

If Dairen died tonight, he wouldn't even blink an eye. Instead, he would celebrate with a dark stain that he could help prevent in the future.

The Ferris wheel creaked loudly, telling them both that they have finally ended their full cycle.

With a loud clang, the door was pulled open by an operator.

Snow got up first, with Levian trailing behind. The operator was stunned at Levian's sudden appearance that he did a double-take, wondering if he saw correctly. Levian smirked, silently laughing as he passed him.

"I suggest we take my car," Levian spoke up. He didn't mind driving Snow to her destination. He needed to meet with Dairen anyway. This might be the best time to kill him so the same repeat of history wouldn't happen again.

It was already difficult enough in the past to get Dairen alone, but as if lady luck was with him, he had eluded him when he wanted to end his life. Now, he wondered if the God of Darkness would step up again to save their disciple.

Unlucky for him, he didn't have a backing of a God anymore. He didn't mind. He wanted it that way.

"I think not." Mike's voice was behind Levian. A dagger in hand as he grabbed Levian from behind. The wicked blade touched his neck, glistening underneath the moonlight. Red blood dripped onto the blade and eventually landed on his clothes. "What are you doing here, Levian?" A low snarl followed.

"Mike. What a pleasure to see you here." Levian didn't seem to be phased by Mike's threat. His hand was up to show that he meant no harm. A happy expression appeared on his lips that threw Mike off for a moment.

"What is a sleazy, murderous stalker like you doing here?"

"Just bringing in some news. Nothing more."

"I highly doubt it. I could smell blood on your hands even now."

"Well, there were a few unwanted, annoying flies that I was trying to get rid of. A few missing here and there wouldn't be a big problem." Levian said nonchalantly. "It was for the betterment of this world."

"I highly doubt that."

"You don't know me, Mike. But I know you." Levian reached over and gently caressed Mike's arm. He then winked, which Mike snapped.

Mike pushed Levian and kicked him with his feet. He bared his teeth, snarling at him.

Levian felt uncomfortable by how Mike had treated him, but he covered it up and threw such feelings away. He needed to leave the past behind him as they were now strangers. There was no point in bringing up an unwanted memory that he had stored away.

"Always got to you." Levian pretended to laugh. He was having a pleasant time, teasing Mike, trying to cover up the resurfacing memories. It took a moment for it to be pushed away and have better control of his cold emotions.

"Enough, guys." Snow spoke, breaking the tension between the two. She was in between them, her hand raised up to stop them. "We got a much more important matter to attend to than the squabble amongst ourselves. Let's go."

Snow turned around, leaving them behind.

Both Mike and Levian squared off for a moment. The intensity between the two intensified, but Levian quickly calmed down. He smiled, making Mike uncomfortable. Levian turned around and walked past Mike. Mike grabbed Levian's arm.

"I'm watching you."

"I know you are." Levian pulled his arm away. His smug smile disappeared, bringing with it a deep frown. He pushed Mike a bit too hard with his usual jokes. Mike's words left an ugly taste on his lips, souring his mood.

Trying to dodge Mike's attention was something he knew was going to be difficult. Cursing himself, he continued walking toward the parking lot.

Even late into the night, the parking lots were filled with cars. Levian had personally headed straight toward a typical economic car. He had a few collections of different cars that he had collected over time, but his work car helped blend him in with society.

Levian entered in first, and the others followed.

"Just wondering, did you guys bring a car?" Levian asked when he started up the engine.

"No. We took a taxi over." Snow took the front.

"Okay."

Levian pulled out of the parking lot in silence. He reached over, turning on the radio. Throughout the whole ride, they silently listened to the radio. They headed straight toward their destination, where their meeting would hold place.

They stopped in front of a seven-story apartment building in the middle of the city. It was a clean, high-class luxury building with a gated community. Parking his car, Levian exited out. He didn't rush behind Snow. Instead, he took his time, lingering behind.

He kept his distance but was still right behind them. He didn't enter, instead. He stayed behind for a moment. Watching for any suspicious activities. So far, he had found three, which he noticed for the past hour.

Slinking through the darkness, Levian snuck up behind each one. His hand wrapped around their neck, silencing them. It didn't take long for him to snap their neck in half, causing the body to crumble. He quickly pulled the bodies into the bushes, hiding it away. He then moved on to the other two.

One was behind a trash compactor. The other was talking on the phone, lingering next to a black car. Levian was able to move effortlessly and dispatch the one next to the trash bin without much trouble. He pushed the body into the trash bin. The last one was a bit more difficult.

Casually walking by, he stopped in front of the man, pretending to talk to someone on the phone. He slinked his hand into his pocket and pulled out a cigarette in between his fingers.

"Excuse me," Levian spoke up in front of the man.

The man looked over. "Yes?"

"I was wondering if you have a lighter with you. For some reason, I don't have anything to light up my cigarette with." Levian showed him the cigarette. He watched what that man would do next.

The man rummaged through his pocket, fumbling around until he was able to pull out what he was looking for.

Levian shot his hand forward, grabbing him by the throat. He pulled him forward toward him, and he grabbed the door of the car open. He then pushed the man into the open door. His hand reached over and silenced him with his hand. His hand fumbled around, grabbing a knife in his pocket and mercilessly slit the man's throat. Blood spewed out, causing him to thrash onto the ground and die choking on his own blood.

With a sigh, Levian pulled back. Pushing the rest of the body into the car. He pulled the jacket up to the neck, covering the wound. Searching around, he found sunglasses as he placed it on the dead body. Pulling out, he closed the door behind him.

"That should have gotten rid of all those rats," Levian said with satisfaction. These days, he had been slaying many of the rats that were following Snow. He didn't like that.

Quickly, he rushed into the building. He was able to catch up to them as Snow lingered in the lobby for a moment. When she saw him, they all went into the elevator. Levian had a feeling that she knew what he did.

They ended up in front of the door 555.

Snow raised up her hand, knocking on the door. It was a light tap with a rhythm. Levian purposely walked over, standing out of sight but behind Mike. He noted Snow's odd knock, thinking of it as some kind of sign that it was her.

The door creaked open, allowing them to enter.

Levian was the last one to enter. He looked around with interest. He did not expect the cleanliness of the apartment to be done in such an OCD manner. But, there was a tranquil feel to the whole apartment. The furniture was simple new age style, the black, white, and red color dominating the areas.

"Not bad," Levian spoke out first.

Dairen snapped toward the voice. His eyes became wide, realizing who it was. "You!"

"Me?" Levian pointed at himself.

"Who else?"

"Well, there is Snow and Mike here too."

"They are welcomed. You are not."

"Oh, really?"

"Yes." Dairen glared. "It was because of you, Snow, and I got into this mess."

Levian pretended to gasp. He then looked distraught, as if he was falsely accused. "That is a terrible thing to say to your savior."

"I highly doubt you are a savior."

"You'll be surprised how many spies I have gotten rid of. You know there were three surrounding this place. You think they don't know you are here?"

Dairen opened his mouth and closed them. "I have been keeping a diligent watch."

"Not good enough." Levian rolled his eyes. He walked over toward a sofa and plopped down on it. Leaning back, he got comfortable as if it was his place.

"Why did you guys bring him here?" Dairen's voice crack with annoyance.

"I didn't." Snow replied. "He followed."
