Haruto, Karin and Chibi chased after the pure white swallow. It was shockingly fast, making them realize if they chased it they'd never catch up.
Haruto noticed that the swallow only went a set distance never going more than one mile away from Gin. It's done this two times already, so he assumed that if it went further it'd be unsummoned.
"Karin, try to guide it's movements back towards us."
Haruto said and Karin nodded.
She created hand signs before she placed her hand on the ground, and walls of earth appeared in front of the swallow.
The swallow saw the walls appear and shot up in the air.
Haruto thought of this and was already a step ahead of the swallow. Having the higher ground, he placed his hand against his mouth after making hand signs.
"Fireball Jutsu."
A ball of fire shot down at the swallow, but the swallow twisted it's body evading the fireball.
Seeing the swallow dodge, Haruto clicked his tongue. He envisioned the creature to change direction and head towards Chibi. However, it didn't.
Chibi threw two kunai at the swallow causing it to turn and face his direction.
The swallow noticed Chibi's reddish colored eyes and stayed flapping it's wings. It wasn't moving very quickly.
Haruto looked down and saw Chibi's eyes change.
"Nice!"
Haruto shouted as he took this chance to jump towards the swallow, hoping to end this test.
However, the swallow made a cute little noise as it broke free from Chibi's genjutsu. Flying towards Chibi it twisted its body creating a cyclone of wind.
Gin smirked in the background as he observed the three of them.
The swallow hit Chibi sending him flying, while Haruto landed on the ground.
Karin shot a few rock pellets towards the swallow but each missed.
As the swallow changed direction, it's speed increased and in a flash it hit Karin knocking her back.
'Was I underestimating it…?'
Haruto thought to himself as the swallow proved to be more cunning than he first imagined.
He planned the perfect scenario and had imagined things working out, but something went wrong and his plan was ruined.
After knocking Karin down, the swallow flapped its wings towards Haruto creating two small gusts of wind.
It was easy to dodge as he simply needed to jump backwards. While evading, Haruto glanced at Gin to see what he was doing, and saw he was still reading his book.
'If I were him, what would I do?'
Haruto asked himself.
Before he knew it, Haruto was on the ground huffing and puffing with cuts and bruises all over his body. He was exhausted, this was the first time in a while that he's been this drained of energy.
Gin closed his book and walked over to the three as the swallow flew and landed on his shoulder.
Playing around with it for a short moment, Gin praised the swallow before he unsummoned it.
Haruto rolled his eyes.
"Go on, tell us how we failed."
Gin ignored Haruto as he looked over Karin and Chibi who were both tired. The two of them showed a bit of promise, but there was always room for improvement.
"Karin, you need to work on strengthening your body more. You get startled too easily when you can't keep a visual of your target. Getting hit is part of being a shinobi, don't care about how you look. You were easily blown away multiple times when you were given a chance to grab the swallow."
Karin opened her mouth to speak, but shut it as she couldn't find the words to say anything.
"Chibi, you can't always rely on your Ketsuryugan in battle. You'll face skilled shinobi who can break out of genjutsu as soon as they are put in it. Not to mention, it puts too much of a strain on your body right now leaving you vulnerable to attacks. Work on learning less chakra demanding genjutsu, but don't forget that genjutsu isn't the only way. You also have talent in ninjutsu."
Chibi nodded his head. He used his Ketsuryugan because he didn't think the swallow would be able to break free, but due to using it, it caused him to stand in place. He wasn't as skilled as other members of his clan at using his dojutsu yet, but that could be attributed to his age.
"You, you're a lost cause. What made you give orders before you even know all there is to know about your opponent? Controlling the field of battle is a lot more complicated than you think. Focus on your strengths and your teammates strengths while you cover for each other's weaknesses.
If you know yourself, you know your enemy.
However, you did decent for a genin. Figuring out that the swallow was only limited to a certain distance."
Gin told Haruto.
"Until you're able to catch the swallow, none of you are going on missions."
Gin stated.
"What?!"
Haruto shouted.
"Sensei, isn't that a little too harsh? How are we going to grow if we don't undertake any missions?"
Karin asked while Chibi nodded.
"Guess you better figure out what you need to do to catch the swallow. You can try again tomorrow."
Gin told them before his figure vanished.
"Ah! That bastard!"
Haruto yelled.
"I swear he's doing this on purpose! All the other teams will definitely go on a mission within the next three days. While we'll be sitting here trying to catch a stupid bird."
Haruto complained.
"We just need to do better next time."
Chibi said.
"I agree, you two could use work. Especially you."
Haruto said as he eye'd Karin.
"What? If anything, you're the one who needs work! What did you do besides shout orders?"
"My orders was what got us close to catching the swallow!"
"Your orders are what made us fail! I knew I should have just followed my instincts. Listening to you gets us nowhere! Geez, why did I want to team up with you in the first place?"
Karin shouted towards Haruto as she pointed her finger in his direction.
Chibi stepped in between the two.
"Guys, we all need work, no one is to blame. We all have our faults, let's just figure out what we need to do tomorrow."
Karin crossed her arms and refused to look at Haruto. Haruto put his hands in his jacket pocket as he shook his head.
Seeing the both of them, Chibi did not know what to do.
As all this was going on, Gin laughed to himself. He was watching all of this happen as he hid himself.
Seeing that things settled down, he actually left them this time.
When he appeared again, Gin was at a large shrine. The shrine was destroyed as debris were everywhere.
Gin noticed a black haired young woman standing in front of the destroyed shrine.
"You following me?"
He asked her as he came up beside her.
"Hardly. I told you I was in town for a while, did you not think I would visit the shrine while I was here?"
She said to him as she turned to gaze in his direction.
Gin kneeled down and touched a piece of a broken pillar.
"Sad isn't it. The things people do for power."
Gin said softly.
Izumi could sense the sadness in Gin's heart. It pained her.
"Not everything is sad, look what happened in return. You got the three tails blessing and it allowed itself to be sealed in you."
Gin looked up towards Izumi.
"Not like I wanted to be chosen."
"No one chooses the life they have, it's more of what you make of it that counts."
Izumi responded.
Gin dust his hand off as he got up from kneeling.
"For a Uchiha, you're not half bad."
"For an Asagao, you need to show a bit more pride."
Izumi placed her hand on Gin's shoulder.
"Now, about that money you owe me."
Gin chuckled a little.
"Didn't you enjoy the drink?"
"That's besides the point!"
