章 56: Chapter 55 - Ice Shadow
Ernie sat in between the girls as he held one of his kids. His child was so small that it was just a bit bigger than his hand.
"What did you want to name them?"
Hina asked as she rocked the little baby girl in her arms.
Ernie shook his head, leaving it to him he'd name them after some sesame street characters. After all, that was the basis for his own name.
"You decide."
Ernie said as he grabbed the babies arm and played with it gently.
"Sumire. She's so beautiful, just like the flower."
Hina said as gently rubbed Sumire's soft silver hair.
Himari agreed.
"That's a beautiful name. Little Urek here has to be strong so he can protect his sisters."
Himari said softly as she showed a loving smile.
"Urek?"
Ernie asked as he looked in her direction.
Himari nodded.
"Yes. You don't like it?"
"Urek… it's different. Definitely worth keeping."
Both the girls looked over at Ernie.
"Why don't you pick the last name?"
The asked him in unison.
Looking down at his baby girl, Ernie couldn't really come up with anything. Suddenly, he was reminded of Vivi from One Piece.
A tear streamed down the side of his cheek.
It's been a while, but he hasn't forgotten about her. If he could, he would have stayed with her. However, the system had other plans for him.
Hina and Hiamri were silent, they didn't know what was wrong with Ernie. But, they felt they should give him a bit of space.
Ernie felt guilty, as if he betrayed his own family to start a new one. While it wasn't something he wished for, it still happened.
He hoped one day he would be able to unite with both Vivi and his child again some day.
Wiping the tears from his eyes, Ernie gently rubbed his baby girl.
"Vi. She'll be called Vi."
Vi moved her head in Ernie's arm as if she approved of the name.
Seeing this brought joy to Ernie's eyes.
Hina and Himari both smiled as they watched Ernie's actions.
They wanted to ask about the name Vi, but felt it wasn't the right time now. Maybe it was the name of his mother, someone he lost a long time ago.
That night, the three of them slept while holding their babies.
Although Ernie hated it, he had to part ways with them the next day. There was still meetings that needed to be attended to, exchanges that needed to be met, and plans for the future.
Ernie was a busy man, he wished things would dial down a bit so he'd have time to spend with the girls. Still, the hurdle was almost over with and things would become smooth sailing.
After hugging and kissing his family, Ernie left as he went to the village's center.
Five stories high, with each floor having its own department and employees.
The first floor was filled with documents and paperwork, mostly things that had to do with their village. Such as families, clans, finances, things like that.
The second floor stored information they gathered on various clans, such as jutsu's they liked using, core members and locations.
On the third floor was a map of the world, as well as various colored pins stuck on the map. Scrolls were flung all over and people were constantly in and out on this floor. It was where people were assigned missions to go escort, retrieve or spy on certain areas. After the completion of the missions, rewards were given out based on the mission difficulty.
There weren't any A or B ranked missions as of yet, but Ernie figured once other shinobi villages start being created he would see those missions then. For now, every mission was relatively simple thus being ranked D or C.
The fourth floor was used as a military focal point, but it wasn't being actively used considering they had no need to send out shinobi as of yet. But, when Ernie created his own Anbu blackops that included a few ninja from the Chinoke clan, they came to this floor.
Ernie kept it simple for them, they will live normally in the village until they were given a mission. At that time they may be gone for a long time, but once they return they live as they were before.
Most of the floors and departments were already functional before they moved to this location. But since the move, they haven't really had time to get them up and running. Now, after being here for a year, things were beginning to turn back to normal.
The top floor was where Ernie stayed most of the day. Sitting at his desk, overlooking various paper work and approving this and that. It was both exhausting and rewarding at the same time.
As Ernie reached the top floor, he saw Aito and Ryo standing next to the door.
Both men greeted him, and Ernie returned the greeting. Soon, he opened the door and the two men followed him inside.
"Lord, there have been a series of rogue shinobi around this area. There goals are uncertain at this time, but we should assume they mean us harm."
Ryo said calmly.
Ernie walked behind his desk and took a seat.
"It took them some time, but people are beginning to notice this place. We always expected this to happen, have the guards stay alert. Seeing us nice and cozy here, they are bound to start a little trouble."
Ernie replied to Ryo.
"What about clans? Have there been any appearances as of late?"
Ernie asked as he folded his arms.
Ryo shook his head.
"No, but we've got word that there have been movements land of sound. Three clans were devasted and are fleeing north as we speak, I believe it'll only be a matter of time before they cross the border and make it here."
Ryo responded.
Ernie nodded.
"When that happens, seek them out and find their leaders. Pry out any information you can, and if they are cooperative we can shelter them here."
Ernie said as he turned his attention to Aito.
"We've been in steady contact with the Maru clan, at this point the land of Earth is split between the Kizamaru clan and the Kamizuru clan. Since our alliance with them as been so good, they asked us to lend them support. Having lost sixty percent of their members, they feel it is wise to leave the land of earth."
Aito said.
Ernie laughed a little.
"Figures as much. The Kamizuru clan used them to weaken the Kizamaru clan, and now that they are low on strength they have no choice but to back away. If they didn't have ties with us surely they'd have to bow to the Kamizuru clan."
Ernie stated.
"Still, let them know we are here for them. If they want, we should still have land to give them. However, make sure they understand the rules of this place thoroughly, don't want them to cause us any trouble."
Aito nodded.
"Things sure have changed now."
Aito commented.
Ernie laughed.
"Indeed, but change doesn't always mean its bad."
"We are more advanced than the other clans out there, but it won't be long before others begin to see the prospect of creating a village. If we truly want to be the village shrouded in ice, we'll need to be covered."
"Don't worry about that, I have it covered. I was just waiting to see how things turned out before I created a wall that would cover our village. Now I can guage the size of the village and create it."
Ernie replied.
"As the leader of this village, don't you think we should give you a proper title? It's a little sad that you are being called lord as if you were the leader of a clan, when you are in charge of the entire village."
Ryo stated.
Ernie thought about it and nodded his head.
"Kōrikage, has a ring doesn't it?"
Ernie said as he's actually been thinking of an official title for a while now.
"Lord Kōrikage, not bad."
Aito said as he nodded his head in approval.
"Then i'll spread the word out."
Ryo answered.
