Chapter 9. Favor
THE way Lexin's mom smiled widely had sent her some sort of secret signal that she definitely liked that man who just greeted them. It was like she lived up to her mom's expectations on choosing the right man who was going to be her lover.
She was also stunned when Kieffer came to their table and handed them the brown paper bag from C'est La Vie.
"We didn't order anything for take-out," it was her dad.
"It's in the house, Sir, since I am dating your beautiful daughter."
Why did he sound as if they had been seeing each other for so long?
They even got some of the customers' attentions and now they were attentive to them.
"Lexin," it was her dad's low tone.
"I like this young man here.
God, her mom was making up some love stories again.
"We aren't yet on that level, Ma'am."
"We will go now. Make sure to set a meeting with us soon."
"Give her some medicine, young man. She's not feeling well," dagdag pa ng mommy niya bago tuluyang umalis ang mga ito.
Now, what?
"Let's go to my office," anyaya nito sa kaniya nang makaalis na ang mommy at daddy niya. They didn't even let her see them off and her mom insisted she'd just stay there. With Kieffer.
"Why didn't you change your pants?" maliit ang tinig na tanong niya rito.
Saglit itong natigilan at namamanghang tumitig sa kaniya. "Is that what you've been thinking for a while?"
"Yes... and no," amin niya.
Ngumiti ito, bagay na nagpatigil sa kaniya. "Then, let's go to my office and wait for me while I change my pants.
"I am a Physician myself, Mr. Sandoval.
"Why did you tell your parents that you're not feeling good?"
Did I? You made me feel real good, Aniya pa sa sarili na animo'y kausap ang lalaki.
"I think I know the reason why. I'm sorry about earlier. I just couldn't resist touching you. You were so delectable."
"D-did you really have to do that?"
Tumikhim ito. "Next time, I won't do it without your permission."
"But that's not what I meant!"
He only snaked his arm around her waist and guided her in the lift. It was like he's enjoying the attention.
"Do you want some coffee?
She knew him as a snubbed person, arogante at mayabang.
"Wait for me, alright? I'll just change my pants and will be back in a few."
She suddenly felt comfortable sitting there.
She saw the pair of his pitch black eyes staring into her as if he could see her deepest secrets. Then, he flashed his million-dollar smile.
"I'll just take a quick shower, too. Can you wait for me?"
Why did he want to take a shower?
"Silly," nakangiting bulalas nito. Bahagyang kinurot ang kaniyang ilong. "It's for me. To calm myself down."
"Why would you want to calm down?" Then she noticed the tent already grew in her pants. "Oh!" she exclaimed. "Alright. I'll just wait here..."
And while she's waiting for him to finish showering, it was also a perfect timing for her to roam around his grand office. And would probably install some listening devices, or a small camera recorder the next time she goes back in there.
Everything happened tonight was in favor with her. Her job will get done soon and as promised, she could finally secede from them. Magiging malaya na siya.
When that happens, she'd probably quit all her jobs and would live peacefully abroad. Far away from everything. She'd start anew and would convince her parents to come with her. Though the last one was impossible, because of her father's businesses, she still wanted to try and persuade them.
She wanted to touch their young hearts through teaching.
Back when she was still in Liberi Orphanarium, the orphanage where she grew up with Nikolaj, she always taught her siblings—which were orphans as well—about some of the Good Manners and Right Conducts she had learned through reading some books. And she was only turning nine-year old that time.
She sighed heavily.
