Beep!
Beeep!
Beeeep!
I roll over to turn off my alarm with a feeling of excitement because the day is the day of our get together and Mekhi's game. I almost forgot that Mekhi publicly announced our relationship last night so today will be interesting to say the least. I get out of bed, check the weather, and begin my morning routine dressing according to the incoming confusing spring weather. I wear a white boyfriend v neck tee shirt with black deconstructed jeans and black moto boots with a long silver pendant necklace and minimum make up. I check myself out in the mirror and like yesterday morning I take a few selfies and send one to Mekhi as well. I head downstairs to the kitchen and see the twins sitting peacefully eating cereal.
"Good morning," I say to them with a smile on my face deciding to have cereal for breakfast as well.
"Good morning," they say in unison.
"Did you guys see Dad this morning," I ask them grabbing a bowl and pouring my favorite cereal into it.
"Yeah, he left out a little while ago," Journee says between mouthfuls of cereal.
"Oh okay. How was he," I ask.
"He seemed alright. Trying to keep himself busy because Mom's not here and we'll be out tonight," she says.
"Hmm," I say.
"How was your conversation with Mom," Jackson asks.
"Straight to it huh? It was alright. She didn't really say too much of anything besides making sure I'm okay and that I'm sure about my relationship with Mekhi given the situation yesterday. After I reassured her she just offered her support and told me about her trip so far," I say to him.
"I didn't think she would make a big deal out of it," he says shrugging his shoulders.
"Why would she? It only spread so fast because Mekhi's name was brought up," Journee says.
"Exactly," I say supporting her stance.
We continue to eat our breakfast chatting happily about the gathering this evening. After a second bowl of cereal we was our dishes and prepare to leave the house. Once we're ready we load up into my car and head towards the high school. The ride there is pretty smooth as we continue our conversation from breakfast. I pull up to the drop off line and wait as usual.
"Pretty soon you guys will be getting your licenses! Are you guys ready to become drivers," I ask them as we wait in line.
"Yes and no because we'll be able to drive places on our own but we'll probably have to share a car," Jackson states.
"Yeah, I feel the same way. I feel like we won't really have freedom to do our thing because we'll be waiting for one another," Journee adds.
"I guess, but you guys might get your own cars because you lead different lives," I say nonchalantly.
"True, we'll see when our birthday comes up," Jackson says.
We finally pull up to the drop off spot and they get out of the car.
"See you later," Jackson says.
"See you," Journee follows.
"See you guys later! Have a good day," I say as they close the door.
I pull off and decide to head to the café to study and a small bite to eat even though I had cereal I need something a little more filling. I sit in the traffic exiting the school for about ten minutes before I am able to make my way to the café. I turn on my radio and let whatever is playing fill the silence of the car ride. Once I get there I order a smoothie and bagel with cream cheese. My purchase is covered by Mekhi again. When I get my food I find a place to settle in and take out my phone and books. I finally look at my messages to respond to Mekhi.
Mekhi: Good morning, baby! 6:02 am
Mekhi: You look beautiful today 7:46 am
Me: Good morning! Thank you!
Mekhi: Did you sleep well?
Me: I did, I felt amazing when I woke up this morning! What about you?
Mekhi: That's good to hear…I slept well enough. Which reminds me to show you where my dorm is when I get back to campus.
Me: I thought you forgot! I won't be napping today, I can't make any promises about tomorrow since we're going out tonight d^:
Mekhi: I didn't forget, just wait for me to get back tomorrow if you feel the need to nap.
Me: Alright…will do! Thanks for my café meals by the way!
Mekhi: You're welcome!
Me: You've got to stop spoiling me like this!
Mekhi: Can't do that!
Me: What am I going to do with you?
Mekhi: Just accept it. I want to spoil and take care of you.
Me: Fine. I'll accept it.
Mekhi: Have a good day baby, I have to go so I'll talk you later.
Me: I hope you have an even better day! Ttyl! <3
When I finish texting Mekhi I eat my bagel and begin to study. I set an alarm to give me time to pack up and head to campus. I review my Biology notes and try to retain as much information as possible. If anyone is paying attention to me they might think I'm crazy as I mumble some of the notes to myself to help me memorize the information a little better. I read, write, and mumble to myself until my alarm goes off. I pack up my belongings, get rid of my garbage, and leave out the door after thanking the staff.
Once I get into my car I turn on soft classical music to decompress my mind from the study session and drive to school. I park near the building holding my Literature class and mentally prepare myself for what may lie ahead. After a few minutes pass I grab my bag and head towards class. I keep my head held high and try to be as natural and nonchalant I can possibly be. People are whispering and looking, but no one actually approaches me which is a relief. When I reach my class I sit in my usual seat and take out the essay we were assigned to work on as part of our midterm grade.
'Spring break is right after midterms and I'm so ready for it. I'm going to relax and probably sleep in. The sleep in part is definitely enticing.' I think to myself happily throughout the day and use is as extra motivation.
After the first class the rest of my day breeze by with no problems. People are looking, but that's to be expected after the bombshell that was dropped on them last night. I head home and text the girls as I lounge around before our outing. I eat a light lunch of grilled chicken garden salad and some fresh fruit only because I know how terribly I will be eating tonight.
When the twins come home from school they do as much of their homework as they can before we start getting ready to leave. I text our parents and let them know that we're getting ready to meet up with the rest our group. Before I leave I straighten myself up and check my appearance to make sure I still look good. I text the girls to let them know we're on our way to the wing place. We are the first ones to arrive so we get a space big enough to hold twenty people in case we have more guests.
After taking our seats we pass around the menu although we already know what we're going to eat and decide to just get drinks until the others arrive. Sure enough a minute after we receive our drinks our friends begin filing in the door one group at a time.
