"Oh my God! Amy!" Mel screamed and was about to dash towards her when she was held from behind.
Tears pour from her eyes like a raindrop.
Fortunately, Amy was shot at her left shoulder and could still survive if she was given immediate treatment before she bled to death.
"You bastard! Let me go! How dare you hurt her!" Mel trashed her legs and before she realized what was going on, chairman Charles went into the room by himself.
Her world fell apart at that instant.
Reality dawned on her.
There's no room for negotiation or a chance to talk to this man. He was determined to take her son today.
Her heart was split into two.
One that hurt from seeing her friend dying and another who wouldn't want her son to part with her.
She began to plead with the man.
She knew she was powerless.
"Please don't do this! Leave me and my son alone! I beg you, please." She kept pleading and Amy who was still in pain on the floor was shedding tears for her friend.
The man returned back to the room with Collins in his arms, still crying from the shock he got from sleep and not being pet before Mel ran outside.
He was smiling so sweetly at him and making a humming sound, while touching his cheeks to make him stop crying.
That sure did the trick because the boy calmed down bit by bit and fell asleep again, oblivious to the reality going on in the house.
The fact that he was able to make him go back to sleep brings immense joy into his heart and he could already see an obedient young man that will listen to everything he said in the future.
"He looks so much like his grandmother." Charles said, looking up into Mel's eyes.
Mel has gone silent like the ability to talk has vanished. She just kept shaking her head like she was losing her mind, while the men held her still.
"I will take it from here. You've spent enough time with him. He doesn't belong…" his eyes scanned the room.
"Here!" He added with a disgusted look.
Mel finally found her voice, the same as Amy who was near losing her consciousness.
Both ladies began muttering,"No! no!"
But that couldn't solve anything here. How much could they do against so many men and a cruel leader who just shot an innocent woman?
They are hopeless.
"Give her." He said and one of the men stepped forward, dropping a briefcase containing money in front of Mel.
She looked down at the money and lost it. She started raining curses at him, asking him to drop his son, but the man was already walking out of the house, while his men still held her still.
They finally let go of her after a few minutes, which of course was enough for the man to have driven off from the premises.
They weren't so gentle, cause it's no different from pushing her.
She staggered back and dropped to the floor, but quickly stood up and rushed after them.
She had gotten to the door before stopping in her tracks and looked back.
There is lots of blood on the floor now and Amy's vision was already blurry.
The fact that she still had her eyes open was her determination to see what would happen to her friend.
Mel knew that chairman Charles had left and her plan was to go to his house right now, but that meant leaving Amy to die.
She couldn't and wouldn't do that.
She's her family, just like her son.
For the second time in a day, she made a decision she never thought she would make in her life.
She would never have assumed she would care for someone like she cared for her son, but right now, she believed the confrontation could wait.
Those bastards wouldn't kill the boy, but Amy could lose her life any moment from now.
With tears streaming down her face, she rushed towards her on the floor and helped her into a comfortable position to rest on her body, while pulling off her clothes.
"No. Mel, go after them. Go get Collins back." Amy said in an exhausted tone.
Her lips were already pale and eyes half open.
"Stop talking. We need to get help for you. I…. I can't do this alone. Amy, I need you in this fight. Don't die on me, please." Mel sobbed as she began tying her clothes around her wound to reduce the bleeding that hasn't ceased.
Amy did as she was told and endured as much as she could, not to scare Mel.
Mel rushed to her room to get her phone and called for an ambulance, while a few concerned neighbors had started coming to their place to check on them after seeing the luxurious cars left the place.
Most don't talk to them, based on how Mel was suspicious of everything and everyone.
How she took everything seriously and didn't joke with anyone, but they knew a kid was with them and couldn't turn a blind eye.
The one with medical skill among them began giving first aid to Amy, before the ambulance arrived.
Again, she had the choice to follow the ambulance or go after her son, but she knew without Amy, the boy would have been taken away for a while now.
She cared for her, just as much as she needed her.
So, she followed the ambulance to make sure her friend was free from danger, before knowing the next step to take.
