Destiny is something that is already fixed. It is bound to happen. 

We believe that there is force above our powers which we called universe or sometimes God. 

Destiny is also a similar kind of force that cannot be seen or have physical evidence but it is only based on one's belief.

" But now I am sure, that there is some force which gets us together. That's called destiny. I believe in destiny, because it's you. We were bound to be together. " he said in a low voice.
