All five of us left the Express, joining the crowd. It seemed that we would all be arriving by the castle shore by boat. We haven't seen Lily nor Severus yet. I wonder how they are...
A professor, as it seemed, called out for everyone to gather. When we did, I looked around for Lily and Severus. When I couldn't find them, I sighed and focused on the Professor. He said some things about going to boats. I didn't listen as I didn't care anymore. Luckily, Nora was there and told us what to do.
We all boarded the middlemost boat. Sirius and James at the front, Peter and Remus behind, and Nora and I. I was on the right.
I looked around the lake. I wonder if anyone ever drowned here? Or if there are any magical creatures. How fascinating. The waters were dark and murky; maybe mud-like? Oh well. I shrugged and looked upfront. Seems like we're nearing the castle, huh.
I looked at Nora, wondering if she had the same thoughts as I. Honestly, we talked a lot, and it was fun. "Hey, Nora," I called out. She replied with a "hm?". She looked at me and our eyes locked. I couldn't get the words out of my mouth. I staggered for an answer. "...Uh-"
"Okay, students! Gather together and we'll leave," he announced, as the boat hit the shore.
I blushed in embarrassment. Ah, how did I not know what to say?! What's happening to me..?
Everyone was leaving the boat, thus I rushed to get out. Once I did, I hit someone.
"Ah, I'm sorry!" I bowed. I couldn't see the person, thus I prayed it wasn't a pure-blood.
"Nalesh?" The voice sounded familiar; so soft and gentle. I looked up to see Lily.
"Oh, Lily!" I grinned. "How are you?" I walked up to her side, asking questions.
"Ahaha..." She smiled and scratched her cheek.
~
"GRYFFINDOR!" The Sorting Hat screamed. Honestly, it's voice reminded me of Petunia, a bit.
I watched as the Gryffindor table cheered, and the girl walked down to the table; cheerful. I looked back up at the hat, questioning everything about it. How did it live? How does it sort? Blimey! So many questions.
I watched countless students being called, it was somewhat boring, aside from my friend's sorting. Nora, James, Sirius, Remus, and Peter have all been put in Gryffindor. There were some interesting pure-bloods, too. Like Malfoy! Unsurprisingly, he was put in Slytherin.
I was cut off by Professor McGonagall calling out, "Lily Evans!" I looked up almost immediately; expectant to see my sister's House.
The Hat muttered under its breath. It seemed that way, as his mouth kept twitching and moving.
"...Hm, I see! GRYFFINDOR!" It yelled. I clapped my hands!
Suddenly, the Gryffindor table erupted in cheers, they were getting lots of students this year!
"Next, Nalesh Evans!" Prof. called. I shook. Right, it's my turn...
I looked at the steps; and from the corner of my eye, I see Severus looking at the Gryffindor table forlornly. I sighed.
Poor guy...
I stepped forward, onto the first step of the platform. I continued walking; until I reached the front of the stool. I inhaled and sat down. As I exhaled, the hat was put on my head.
How do you work, anyway?
"Easy, kid. Magic." It replied. I froze.
You.. can read my mind?!
"Duh, I'm a magic hat!" It retaliated. I blushed. Ah, so embarrassing... A hat scolded me...
I covered my face with my hands, my ears dusted red.
"Hm... likes reading... but helps friends... This is a hard one," it murmured, so low only I could hear.
I-is this the legendary Hatstall?!
As far as I know, Professor McGonagall was one of them!
I gasped in definite shock and excitement. I opened my eyes and saw Lily staring at me worriedly, from the table. The rest of the gang looked expectant.
I calmed myself. Wait, Nalesh. A Hatstall takes around five minutes, as far as you know, it's only been a minute.
The hat shook. I felt expectation rising from the bottom of my stomach; my blood boiling in excitement. "...I see! GRYFFINDOR!"
I smiled so happily, it almost looked like a grin. Yes! I'm in the same House as my sister and them!
The Gryffindor table erupted in cheers as I saw Severus frown. Oh no...
Prof. McGonagall smiled at me. I walked down the platform, my steps echoing. I walked past Sev, Lily an I's nickname for him, and smiled apologetically. Time seemed to stop as I look into his dark eyes. It held pain and sadness... I'm sorry.
Time returned and I sat down in between Lily and Sirius, Nora in front of me. I smiled as they gave compliments. My mind wandered off as I thought about Sev.
"Severus Snape!" The Prof. called. With this, James and Sirius' ears perked up; as if they were dogs.
"Oh?~ If it isn't Snivellus, right, Lily?~" James asked s Sirius looked at her.
Lily seemed enraged; as did I. He is still my friend! I won't let you bad mouth him. We both glared at him. "Watch your trap, Potter/James." We said in sync. Sirius looked surprised, and we had the attention of the whole gang now.
"Woah! That's so cool!~" Sirius added. I scoffed at that remark.
"What do you expect, brother? They are twins, nonetheless." Nora added as she watched the stage. I sighed and joined her watching. I guess that's that...
I looked at the stage. Sev sat at the stool, as the Hat tested him. He sat down nonchalantly. "SLYTHERIN!"
Even if I expected it, I still felt quite sad. Even if he is quite creepy some times...
I watched as he walked to the screaming Slytherins, joining them. He seemed as gloomy as always, albeit happier. I guess it's because of Hogwarts, huh... I sighed as I listened to the arguing between Lily and James.
The group of unsorted children seemed to be getting less and less as time ticked by. After a speech by the Headmaster, food magically appeared! I gasped in shock. Wow, magic is so convenient! By the time cheers echoed, a piece of food nearly flew at my face. I looked beside me, seeing Lily and James screaming insults and gibberish towards each other.
It seemed as the bickering caught the attention of the nearby Hufflepuff table, as some of the members watched the two's bickering. I looked at Lily, saying, "Lily, people are watching. You can continue this later, okay?" I held her shoulders down since she seemed to be in the midst of pouching on James. She harrumphed and looked at my side since James was seated beside her. She grabbed her fork and began to eat. I sighed, as James as done nearly the same thing.
Well, I guess we can focus on eating...
~
We have finished supper, and have all lined up. "Everyone, follow me! Don't get lost!" The Head Boy shouted. He began to move, as the other Houses have started, too. I rushed forward as people from behind had begun pushing, making the scene more chaotic. I hurried after Remus; the one in front of myself.
I passed by paintings, corridors, halls, stairs, and ghosts. It was eventful, albeit weird. It was definitely a one-of-a-kind experience.
As we ran up the stairs, it... shifted. The destination of this flight of stairs changed?! I looked around and nodded. Yes, we definitely shifted!
Groans could be heard from behind us, most likely coming from the Second Years up. They must have experienced this before.
Thump!
My thoughts halted, as the pushing began. We started running again. It was like an exercise. Is it always going to be like this..?!
I sighed again.
~
Yes! We have finally arrived at the Gryffindor Common Room! All of the upper-level students had already gone to bed. Currently, I was waiting in front of a door. It was the door to my room; which is shared by four other students!
I tapped my foot on the ground; impatient. Peter was really slow! He was the one who hadn't arrived yet. Oh, and yes, my roommates are no other than James, Sirius, Remus, and Peter! I was overjoyed when I found out. I didn't need to talk to strangers..!
"I-i'm here! Sorry I took so long." Said Peter, holding some books. I nodded, and so did the rest. We were all tired from the running.
Since I was the nearest, I opened the door. It revealed a nice, old-fashioned room. There was a bay window in the front, three beds on the right, and two on the left. There also four desks, all parallel each other, two on each side of the bay window. I grinned and ran to the middle bed on the right.
"Ugh! No fair, Nalesh! I wanted that bed!" Sirius groaned. Meanwhile, I did a peace sign while laying down the bed. I didn't care anymore... I just wanted to sleep!
I closed my eyes, thoughts of the events of today entering my mind. I smiled at the thought of it.
This is fun...
And off to sleep I went.
