"There are three major kingdom's," Xllor was saying to the two who were listening intently, "Two of them Human, and one of them Troll. They are my own Kingdom of Suvain situated in the South, the Illia Kingdom in the far East and," he paused as a look of disgust penetrated his features as if something slimy and disgusting was trying to ooze from his mouth. "Trollvorde!" he spat, and gagged slightly which caused Bast to let out a small laugh, even Ra had to admit the sight of him gagging made him chuckle. Xllor smiled and coughed a few times after his forced gagging display before continuing, "besides our Kingdoms on the Miviniel continent there are 6 others, The Troll continent of Zakara, Misvalain- The largest continent and foothold of the Empire, Nabara, Shahdi Marir, Deyolit, and Atarr."
Ra had been paying close attention and made sure to carefully remember each of the names.
"Do the Trolls come from this Zakara?"
Xllor nodded, "They can't swim, Trolls, but Trolls are natural inventors. They have fortresses that soar through the sky, at first we believed it was some sort of Troll magic but we were wrong, they're powered by something other than magic. We have tested this and can only conclude that they have another power source."
This drew shock from Ra and Bast, the latter who meticulously studied magic and all of its forms was having difficulty believing that it was possible to fly without it.
"They do however," Xllor continued, "employ powerful defensive magic arrays to protect these flying fortresses, and each one is equipped with Nation-scale offensive magic cannons." Ra didn't know what to say, this went far beyond any offensive or defensive capabilities they currently possessed. Flying Fortresses? Magic cannons? this wasn't so much a war but a resistance against total annihilation and eventual extinction! "What...are the casualties?" Ra asked his voice shaking slightly with hesitance present in nearly every syllable. To this a pained look covered Xllor's face and his eyes were tightly shut as he revealed the statistics, "On our end...about 340,000 casualties," he said and clenched his fists, "on theirs, perhaps 20, maybe less, and even those were obtained with heavy sacrifices." he sighed. Ra was stunned with this new revelation, "no wonder they sought allies, they can't even put up a fight! But what do they expect me to do?" he wondered silently. He glanced sidelong at Bast who appeared to be in a similar state, "Such a one sided slaughter, do you even have any hope of winning?" Bast did not keep her thoughts to herself.
And Xllor was caught off-guard by the question as well but he quickly recovered, "You'll have to ask my father," he said and he became quiet. The rest of the flight was silent apart from the sounds of rushing air and water, and occasionally the battles of monstrous beasts in the forests below.
Eventually they had to stop, Bast insisted on it having been listening to Ra's stomach rumble for the past half hour she was adamant about feeding him. Gratefully Ra agreed to land and hunt for meat while Bast foraged for wild plants and berries she could use for a meal.
Xllor, who had become quite listless during the journey perked up when the aromatic smells of sizzling meat reached his nostrils and he began to salivate in anticipation. Soon they were tucking into the thick dripping meat of a winged griffon, Ra had snapped its neck with a powerful twist of his hand and a mound of griffon feathers lay stacked a few feet from the fire that Bast had conjured. Xllor, of course had done nothing but stuff his face like a ravenous dog. When they had finished eating Ra grabbed the griffon feathers and began to fletch them into arrows. Xllor watched this in awe, not because he was surprised that Ra could make arrows but because of the results. Each arrow had a remarkable aura, Ra imbued these arrows with strange abilities. However, Xllor wasn't aware of this, all he knew was each arrow held a surprising amount of strength. Pointing at an arrow, "What do they do?" he asked. In answer, Ra lifted the arrow and balanced it between his fingers, he weighed it in his hand before he pinched it between his thumb and forefinger. Then, aiming it at a tree, he threw it. The unfortunate tree it hit seemed to collapse inward near the point where the arrows tip had impaled. Xllor leaped up, "How did you make that?! My kingdom will pay you four, no Seven million in precious gems and gold for the technique!" he exclaimed after giving it some thought. Ra shrugged, and gesturing at the griffon feathers said, "wood and magic." Before returning to his fletching, "And it's not for sale," his tone bore with it a measure of finality as if it was not up for discussion, Xllor, open mouthed turned his pleading eyes towards Bast, who shrugged, "He said what he said." Which caused Xllor to sigh in defeat and collapse to the ground as he resigned himself to watching Ra craft his arrows. Naturally Ra was only doing this to amuse himself and not for any particular use or purpose.
After resting for a while, the trio returned to the air and continued their flight toward the Suvain Kingdom. Xllor especially was eager to return home and set a horrifying pace as he sped ahead.
Two more days passed before they managed to reach the border of the Suvain Kingdom. If not for his high level Ra would have long since collapsed, and currently he felt himself to be quite near to breaking through to level 9 but he hadn't had the time to properly train yet. Upon crossing the border of the Kingdom, Ra and Bast noticed a distinct atmospheric change, Xllor had pleasure suffusing every inch of his features. "This is...mana density?" breathed Bast in a low whisper, and indeed it was, what's more, it was mana density unlike any they had experienced before. "How is it so strong?" and Ra shot a questioning look at Xllor who revealed a knowing smile. "I thought you would have this reaction," he said, "I was quite surprised myself to find the mana in your environment to be so poor, and yet they were still able to develop such shocking talents. I promise, if you train here your leveling speed will increase at least 3 times." he said confidently. Ra didnt even have to consider it, he reached into his soul space and discovered it was already changing, excitement filled him as he quickly began to consolidate the influx of mana coursing through his system, Bast was likewise in the midst of a power-up. Ra felt his level increase and his power exploded, wave after wave of pure golden energy emanated around him. This energy once again exploded as Ra leveled again, shattering the boundary blocking the Saint stage, Ra was now a level 1 Saint Dragonknight. His aura had undergone a change and his soul weapons merged with his soul making it whole again. Surprised, Ra re entered his soul space and watched it pulse and change as it glowed a dense white and it began to expand, filling his entire body. When the light faded and his soul returned to normal, it was vastly different, and he knew instinctively what it was. His eyes widened. "Anima," he breathed.
