A giant leaderboard was displaying the names of the top Chimera's, these scores would be tallied and a tournament would be the result between the best of the best.
For now, no one paid it much attention, except for Bast, who suddenly saw her ranking drop from first to second.
But she did not reveal any expression of despair, instead fighting spirit surged in her heart.
Soon players were forming teams and challenging random groups.
Other groups witnessed this occurring and quickly followed suit, gathering into powerful units with their friends.
Ra and Bast were in the midst of forming one with Merlin and a few others when suddenly a sharp piercing ring echoed in their ears.
This sound was accompanied shortly after by numerous loud roars.
Instructors began appearing all over the island shrouded in energy and radiating a killing aura.
A shout went up, "It's the Fallen!" shrieks were ripped from the chests of young girls, Headmaster Gram was in the sky manipulating a vast amount of energy, beads of sweat dripped down his face. He was scared, but not for himself, for all the students he was charged with protecting.
He doubled his efforts and a beautiful shimmering array formed in the sky, "Celestial Aegis: Ward!" A deep and powerful bellow resonated from Headmaster Gram.
Glowing red armor materialised on every individual present in the Academy, Headmaster Gram slumped forward visibly weakened.
Several Instructors flew up to aid him like red streaks of light, and gently supported his huge frame on their combined shoulders.
Ra felt anger surge inside himself, "Good!" he thought savagely, "It's been too long since I've had a good fight!" he flew into the air, his power reigned unchecked, forcibly cracking the surrounding space, it radiated like a primal beast discerning neither friend nor foe, his power resembled a God overlooking the world.
"Since you've come, just reveal yourselves. These games..." Ra's hand shot out, directly shattering the aura of concealment before him, "I do not wish to play them." he said and a dark light flashed through his golden eyes.
In clear view of everyone in the Academy, more than 3000 Dragons materialised, their attempt at stealth completely seen through.
Their plan had clearly been to pick them off unseen, however they had not expected the High Humans to be so well prepared, or for a monster like Ra to suddenly appear before them.
Needless to say, since they've come this far they would not back down.
The Dragons split off in pairs and dived toward the ground.
There were easily 200,000 students residing at the Academy.
"These Dragons must be insane!" Was the shared thought that went through their heads.
They were correct, Fallen Dragons were afflicted with madness, but why then would they attempt stealth? why not just catch them unaware and destroy them all? Ra had very little time to ponder all these questions as he was currently battling 10 Evolved Black Dragons simultaneously.
Instructor Shizune appeared by his side, offering him a faint smile.
She soul formed.
Two long curved daggers appeared in her hands, radiating a majestic aura.
Ra felt her power pulling at his spirit, he shot her a quick glance.
Her movements were quick and fluid, moving like a lithe dancer and a sturdy bodyguard, she protected him from all forms of attack.
Ra shook himself awake from his mesmerized state.
Realizing he had yet to soul form his weapon, two beautiful silver and gold longswords materialised in his hands.
Ra felt a primal power welling within his body, he reigned it in to avoid harming his Instructor, but as he fought his power was slightly berserk, his blades cleaved destruction, where he swung limbs were severed, his eyes glowed with a primordial energy as he tapped into his connection to the land. Doing so he felt connected to the Fallen Dragons he currently fought, he knew their thoughts, however their minds were in turmoil and he could glean no information from this, he forcefully cut himself off as he continued to dance in midair amidst slashing claws, beating wings, and pure, scorching black flames.
As Ra continued to swing his blades the mana energy around him began to thin, he absorbed and used every bit of it to unleash his devastating attacks. When Ra felt his attacks weakening the Dragons also noticed this and began their counter assault, which forced Ra to take dozens of steps backwards as he swung his swords to protect himself.
One of Ra's soul weapons began to flicker, the mana was becoming increasingly thin, he could no longer maintain its form.
One of his swords soon disappeared, forcing him to fight with a single weapon. Ra felt the pressure weighing on him, only 3 of the Evolved Black Dragons remained and yet he was in a much worse situation than before.
"Mana...I Need Mana!" Ra shouted in his mind, and as if a sleeping beast had awakened power flooded into his body, Primordial energy began to visibly gather to his location, this energy was much more powerful than his previous strength which relied on the ambient mana.
The red armor encasing Ra's body shattered, replaced with a golden glow.
Ra felt his level increase, he was now a Level 2 Evolved Dragonknight after stagnating at level 1 for so long. He felt his strength surge.
"There is truly a huge gap between levels," he sighed, and indeed the power he felt at level 2 was not something level 1 could compare with, it was truly like night and day.
Ra turned his attention to the remaining Dragons...
"Die for me," he snarled as he rushed towards them.
