章 49: 49 Head Turner
I could not believe that this is happening. At 2pm, the conference had formally ended to give time to prepare for the night's event. As we stood, I saw eyes on us, I heard them whispering as Ms. Alba stood beside me and bid good bye by a cheeky hug. Ms. Alba hurriedly walked towards the door as I went to the opposite direction scanning the place to look for my father.
Though Ms. Alba has long been gone, I can feel that eyes are still looking at me. There were some passersby who turned heads on my direction even if Ms. Alba was no longer in sight. I was wondering why. Did they saw Ms. Alba and I sitting beside each other? I thought they were already used of her attending this kind of events in the business world. I just pretended that I did not notice the attention of the crowd because of my closeness to Ms. Alba. She is that famous that I myself had witnessed how the crowd gave her attention, the kind of looks that envy but respect her status. With the attention they gave to her when I was sitting beside her and even when she was already few minutes gone , I too was showered with attention that I almost felt a celebrity too.
Suddenly, a young handsome man, about my age, approached and offered me his hand for a handshake saying "Hi, I'm Owen. Looking for someone?"I instinctly accepted his hand. "Yah, I'm looking for my father, I'm Mia"... "He's there". Pointing at my father's location. "There you are, but how did you know he is my father?" I wondered. "We met. awhile ago the very moment you came in." "Oh my, I'm sorry" is all I have said in embarassment. He quickly said, "I understand, who would expect to remember all of those people introduced to you." He smiled showing his cute dimple. He ushered me towards my father and said, "See you tonight, and please don't forget this time, Owen here". He smiled again and shake my father's hand and went out.
My father was smiling. "Pa, what is that mischievous smile for?"
He put his hand over my shoulder as we walked out of the hall as he said "You are such a head turner, my beautiful Mia".
