章 18: 18 A friendship date
First day of my week-long afternoon shift. Nothing remarkable had happened, just the usual routine in the hospital ward. I immediately changed my white uniform to a white t-shirt paired with a denim pants.
At 3:15pm I was already out and strolling back home. Just a few steps away from the hospital, a red car passed by and came to a stop a few meters away. Is it waiting for me?😊 As i came nearer, my heartbeats doubled its speed. It was Richard.
That dimpled smile again. "Hop in. Save your energy, I'm on your house' direction, I'll drop you by. "
He was bubbly and..... handsome.😜 I remembered the incident just this morning so without hesitation I accepted his offer. Though our residence is just a 15-minute walk and brisk walking home would be a good leg exercise, I decided to hop in. The beautiful start of the day this morning had made my day light and easy. I think it would end beautifully as well.
"Oh hi Richard. Nice to see you again. By the way, thank you for adding spices to my surprise gift for mom."
"That's why you owe me a dinner." He smiled. "How about a dinner with me? My treat. I know a nice place where we could talk and reminisce our childhood days." Before I could literally say yes, he turned left away from my home's direction. But I did not protest so it seems he took it as a yes.
"Were you in 1st grade when I first helped you out?" And so, the reminiscing moment officially started.
After a 10-minute drive, I noticed we were going far and so I asked him where we are heading. He smiled again and said "trust me, you will like the place. Wait, i forgot to call for a reservation." He immediately dialled the number and had a reservation. His phone was in loud speaker becauae he was driving while making the call so I heard their conversation. "Green Valley's Best, Ms. Belle speaking, how may I help you?"
Green valley, that's in the south and in the boundary of the city. I haven't been there because aside from it's far from my route and radius, it's an expensive place. Yet, I did not say anything. After his call, I also called my mom to expect me late today so they won't worry. I also mentioned that I am with Richard, our neighbor a few years back.
