章 11: Officially Married!!!
Tom red thin lips curved when he was informed that Sab already arrived and waiting in his office. He then pulled out his phone and starts texting.
The divorce scandal of one of the head directors was exposed. Though they were able to suppress the media and deleted everything, the negative impact still shows on the stock price going down. The director was married to a woman who came an influential family and known in business world.
The couple also happens to hold number of shares in his company and everyone is panicking about the impact of this.
Tom stand up with blank face and look everyone in the room. "You called for a meeting because of this?"
"If you are too concern of the stock price, you should be working harder now and not discussing this matter. If you are shaken with this small matter, then you don't deserve to be seated in your position. Meeting adjourned," he then walks to leave.
One of the directors at his 50's stood-up agitated. He can't believe that this cocky young man taking the issue lightly as if it's nothing. He lives longer and have works longer in the company than anyone in the room, he knows exactly that scandal of influential people is not as simple as it seems.
They can lose a huge amount of money and this would not be good for him who will retire in less than a year. He wants to make sure that he will leave the company at its peak, not because of money. This company is too important for him and he wants to leave a legacy before he left.
Tom stops at the door and turn around. "If anyone disagrees, just hand in your resignation. I'll be happy to accept it," that's all and left the room. Everyone shivered. They know exactly Tom's temper. He never holds onto people. If you can't take him then better leave.
Tom is a natural talent. The company was nothing before him and almost in verge of bankruptcy. But because of his strict management, things turnaround in a year and at almost at peak in the 3rd year of his management.
People say his great management changed everything but for them, that's not all made the company so much better. This man is a real tactician. All his decisions so far are way too better. It's like he can see the future.
The man only knows how to win. Because of this, no one really defies his decisions even if they felt wrong about it. At the end, he always proves himself right.
Tom was fully aware of the weight and significance of great image in business world. But as businessman, he'll only care on numbers. The issue might have an impact but his very confident that this will not last long. He had work so hard to build the company and only hired the best of best that can only bring great results. A small issue like this will not shake the company.
Tom saw the serious face of Sab as soon as he entered. His brows knitted, "Speak," he commanded as he walk toward the little girl without breaking the eye contact.
He is somewhat happy seeing the transformation of the little girl. Her skin looks nicer wearing the sleeveless pastel yellow dress. The light make-up was refreshing, and her wavy hair dyed from black to brunette brings out the feminine look.
With this little changes, the boyish and old fashion little girl looks like a flower that starting to blossom. He felt surprisingly satisfied knowing he was the one who made it happen. His eyes went down and stops at the pink flurry slippers then look in her eyes again.
Sab intentionally looks at the man to study her feelings. Though Tom looks very handsome and looks very high mighty, all she can feel was amazement for meeting a high-profile man.
It's like a one in a million chance that she would ever entangle a man like him. Not feeling love struck and not feeling fear. The man in front doesn't seem attracted or look at her disgusted. This is better than she thought. If she guessed it right, they might be able to survive the 1-year fake marriage and live on their own after without any conflicts.
Sab opened her little mouth but surprisingly unable to say anything. She can't even remember her plans on asking him for new shoes. She just stood there locking eyes with Tom, magnified by his light browned eyes. She is in a dazed of somewhere.
Tom broke the silence. "Do you have any other demands before we get married?" His deep voice was calm as if he was just speaking about a business proposal.
Few moments passed but Sab still unable to say anything. She trying to think but can't really think anything to say. "Was I scared of him?" she thought. "But it doesn't seem so."
"If you won't say anything, we'll go then we can register our marriage," he walks to his table and pulled out a paper in the drawer. He signals her to come and making her sign.
Unconsciously, she walks over and read the papers. This is the things they discussed this morning. She read it carefully and look at the man.
#1. Their marriage will be secret and cannot be exposed to media or to anyone unless he gave a permission (that's good)
#2. She'll live with him the entire marriage for 1 year and must do wife duty (she paused)
#3. She must be loyal to him the entire marriage (she paused)
#4. She must work with him as personal secretary for 1 year to avoid rumors between them
#5. She will need to appear in all his blind dates
#6. She will need to make other girls to give up on him
It also mentioned there that once they go separate ways, she'll be paid a good amount of money, and she must not appear before him again.
In return, he will not do anything to her that she doesn't want to and will be loyal as well. He will solve whatever problem she'll encounter during the marriage including the gangster whom she was sold to.
If she breaks the contracts, she will need to pay 20 million as damage. Her heart sank seeing this part. She felt selling her soul to a handsome devil.
"Our marriage will be fake right?" Sab asked nervously after a long-time. She felt trapped by the situation and stupid for agreeing beforehand without thinking.
She will turn 22 only this year, too young to be trapped in marriage. She has not even experience to date anyone. She dreamed to marry someone that flatters her heart, if that truly exists. This marriage should not be real.
In the first placed, she agreed because it will not be real. A huge stone removed from her heart as she heard the assurance from Tom's voice. She sighs of relieved before she looks at the papers and signed it after.
"Of course, I know someone from government who can arrange this marriage for us. We'll have the papers but it's not real."
Tom wants to strangle the little girl in front. A lot of girls want to be by his side and even proposed marriage upfront, but this stupid little girl hesitated so much and been happy when he assured that it's not a real marriage.
He smiled mischievously seeing the little girl signed. After signing, he pressed the intercom and called Alvin his personal secretary, telling him to bring Mr. Lee in his office. The man wearing gray suit with black attaché case enters the room and accepted the documents. He took picture of them together before he left.
Sab couldn't totally understand still what's happening. When the man left, she felt her legs become jelly. First thing comes to her mind was the huge amount of money he needs to pay if she violates any of the conditions on their agreement.
She had not even contributed any conditions on the contact. Stupid me, she thought. Now she felt a little irritated. This man seems knew about it. Looking at him smiling made her felt too naive. What could she do now? But at least, her life will be quiet for a while. She's a little tired with all her worries for the past few days.
But now that she officially married Tom, she still felt doomed not sure why!!!
