He kicked me off of him and pulled out a knife. He used the knife to stab into the wall behind him to slow his descent. Meanwhile, I grabbed a nearby window to stop my fall. He chuckled as I saw him pull out three more knives and threw them at me. Since I'm in this world no one knows who I am, so I decided to use my devour semblance to completely absorb the knives he threw at me and used them to create a small short sword. The Dark Phantom seemed shocked for a second and I took this opportunity to leap off the wall and slash him with my new sword. He managed to dodge the slash but he is missing a part of his shirt now. His body then glows a light blue and the next second he's gone. I quickly search the area only to find him running away in another direction. I won't let him escape. I sent the Nevermore after him and summoned Bagels as well to fight him. His semblance must be something similar to speed because he's very swift and managing to dodge all the Nevermore and Bagels attacks. Anytime he tries to escape their range, I appear to knock him back toward one of my companions. He has no choice but to fight us if he wants to escape. After several attempts to injure my beasts with no effect, his body stops emitting the blue light. Is he giving up?
I close in on him and the blue light turns into a yellow one as he kicked me in the stomach and sent me flying into a nearby wall. Not even a second has passed before I see his face in front of my face. I barely managed to move out the way and I could feel the wind from his attack brush up against the side of my face. Bagels tried to attack him from behind but he vanished as if he wasn't there and proceeded to stab my arm into the wall behind me. Pinned down with no escape, he sends a flurry of blows all across my body. There's no way I'm letting this man beat me. I quickly devour the knife that's pinning me down and after he lands another blow to my chest I grab him. I quickly devour his aura from his body, but he uses the rest of his body to punch, kick, and even headbutt me to let go of him. I keep holding on until I noticed that Bagels and the Nevermore were both gone. Something was telling me that something was definitely wrong as what seemed like a second Dark Phantom appeared out of nowhere and pushed a sword through my back. I can feel the blood gushing out of this wound. Unlike the injuries, I sustained previously this is a pretty serious one. I quickly try to use my aura to heal my wounds but I'm having trouble mustering up the strength to fight this new Dark Phantom with my injury. I look over to the first Dark Phantom but all he does in run away in fear. It seemed to take all I have to dodge his strikes. Even then some are hitting home and things are looking worse for me. As he was about to strike me again an arrow appeared out of nowhere and shot into the Dark Phantom's shoulder. I look up to see that it was none other than Eve. Eve continued to fire multiple arrows at Dark Phantom with her crossbow but none were successful in hitting him after her surprise attack. However, it served as a nice distraction so I could heal my wounds and reach him. Instead of punching him, I devoured some of the clothes he wore on his body. With the mask gone I could see a handsome man with short, black hair and red eyes. With Eve's support, I manage to devour everything that could be used as a weapon and pinned him to the ground. Eve managed to find a rope so we tied him and pushed him against a wall.
Jack: Eve, you're alright.
Eve: Yeah, but you've been ignoring me.
Jack: I thought you were the Dark Phantom so I didn't talk to you. It turns out he can't turn into other people otherwise there wouldn't have been two Dark Phantoms at one point.
Dark Phantom: I tricked you pretty good.
Jack: What was your purpose for doing all this anyway?
DP: I'm bored. I know I'm not real anyway. Just a page in a rusty old book.
Jack: Is that why you let yourself be caught so easily.
DP: Exactly because if I really wanted to stay hidden then you could never find me.
Eve: I don't understand. What is your semblance anyway?
DP: I can possess people and take over their bodies. When I take over someone's body I instantly know their semblance and how to use it. Obviously, this isn't my real body either, so I can retreat at any point. The only downside to my ability is that my name is printed on the body I possess like a tattoo.
Jack: That would explain why Jessica lost her memory since you possessed her during that time at the bar.
Wait a second. Did you drug me?
DP: I don't know? Did I?
Jack: Eve, you brought me up to my room, right?
Eve: Yeah, but after I went into my room everything is a bit of a blur.
Jack: What did you do?
DP: Why would you assume I did anything? I had the perfect opportunity to kill you and I didn't. You should be thanking me.
Jack: After you tried to do that 5 minutes ago.
DP: Well, I'll allow you to draw whatever conclusions you want to. Anyway, since I'm in a generous mood I'll tell you some knowledge about the book you're in. It's supposed to be a record of the greatest heroes to ever exist and meant to gift treasures of great power to those who are worthy. The book was only ever supposed to be held by people that owner deemed worthy, but of course over the years people of unclean hearts such as myself came across the book. I was actually on a job and stole the book for someone else. While the book was in my possession it made a copy of my soul at the time and stuck me as one of the many pages in this book. Even I don't know what becomes of me or if I even die.
Eve: I'm pretty sure that you didn't die because someone is running around as the Dark Phantom right now. Who knows maybe you had children?
DP: Unlikely, but who really knows.
It was then that our bodies started to emit a golden light and our bodies started to disappear.
Jack: Wait a second. What about the vampire? Can you tell me more about it?
DP: Don't worry about it. I'll keep it as our little secret. Maybe next time you'll find my personal treasure. I do hope you visit me again.
He had a mischievous smirk on his face as he waved us goodbye. Somehow during our conversation, he managed to break himself out of the rope. Slowly but surely we managed to completely disappear from this world. The next thing I knew I was back in my room with Eve. It was almost as if we never left. I checked with Olga but no more than a couple minutes had passed since we went inside the book. We were in there for days yet only a couple of minutes passed by. I would be ecstatic at the limitless training we could do if I wasn't worried that the next time I opened the book I might not come out again. For now, Eve and I agreed to keep this a secret since who knows what else could be lurking within the book.
